Peter David, writer of the upcoming Transformers: Dark of the Moon novel has updated his blog confirming that he has finished writing the novel. He mentions that he was rather pleased with the piece, and expects it to see release a few weeks prior to the movie's release next year.

Seriously, the novelization actually turned out pretty well, I thought. I’m always kind of amazed when a novelization reads smoothly, because while I’m in the middle of it, it always feels like it’s patchwork as I integrate my own scenes and dialogue with what’s in the script...

Have we heard any official reason why Foster isn't continuing the series? I'll still pick this one up since I have the other 4 books already but it's going to be difficult for me to not be critical of this one. I'm sure Mr. David did a great job and is an excellent writer otherwise he wouldn't have been asked to tackle this job. I'm just fussy when it comes to series books and consistent styles.

You can do ALOT worse than Peter David.

Now get him on the comics.

7 months before the actual movie? Riiight, that will keep the novel up with the latest changes made before the release.

I hesitate to say it, but that photo does not do any justice to the fandom.

I already posted this in the other DOTM novel thread.

The first 2 movie novels varied from the on screen finished product so I don't see why #3 should be any different. In my opinion, the novels were better than the movies and I was actually a bit p.o.'d when I came away from RotF. (So was, at minimum, 1/3 of the whole fandom, but for a number of reasons that differed from mine)
I'm going to trust Kenny28's endorsement of David's work and say that I am looking forward to getting this novel and then tearing apart the movie when it doesn't meet up with the expectations that I'll have firmly set in my head after I finish the book.

I liked Alan Dean Foster's work. Hopefully this guy is good too.

He's a geek icon. He's been around. And gave us Grey Hulk in a zoot-suit. I don't see much to worry about.

He also gave us Star Trek: New Frontier and Fallen Angel!

And that great Supergirl series with the evolution of the Matrix Supergirl into an Earth Angel. Too bad DC chose to force the series into a quick finish to make way for the reintroduction of the original Kara/Supergirl in the current continuity after killing her off in the first Crisis on Infinite Earths series. I'm still not sure why they killed the younger Kara instead of the Power Girl Kara. If it was because of fan service from PG, it's not like a future version of the Kara they killed couldn't have grown into her older self from another Earth. Morons. :BANG_HEAD:

I used the spoiler shroud though I don't know that I needed to just in case someone is still a few years behind and does not want certain details revealed. :-$

His Supergirl is in IMHO the GREATEST series DC ever has published.

You also forgot that he's the man when wrote Aquaman he made him into a bad ass, he made the Hulk into great complex character, he has also wrote Young Justice, Spider-Man 2099, Justice, Sach & Violins, Spyboy, Marc Hazard: Merc, Halo: Helljumpers, Spike: Old Wounds, Spike vs. Dracula, Angel Spotlight: Illyria and X-Factor which is the only Marvel ongoing comic book worth buying.

I've only read a little of the above. I did read the first X-Factor trade when he brought the gang back together as detectives. But as I no longer collect comics I have to rely on friends who do to keep up to date, and I'm way behind on X-Factor, which may well be the only Marvel ongoing worth reading, as you point out.

It's the only ongoing Marvel comic that I buy. My advice is too start at #200 and work your way forward.
