I got a UW on pre-order at BBTS...so I will get it eventually. But all of the CW sets (sans G2 Bruticus which is still relatively new) have gone on sale at some point. I've noticed the proce came back up, but at one point Victorion was on sale at Target.com for $72.99 (that's when I got mine). Though CW Computron coming towards the end. Perhaps not as many were produced so who knows. Still I'll be patient unless these start to sell out quickly

The thing is, I don't need this set, so I'm going to wait for a really good sale, getting it through target at a deep discount would be great if it doubled up with their low free-shipping rates

Yeah, Groove felt like a figure from a year or two earlier, really great. Meanwhile, yesterday I managed to track down the 5 CW limbs I was missing at Marshalls, and I'm really disappointed in the feel of the two I've opened so far. Smokescreen feels cheap, but still seems okay, maybe some Pledge on some joints will be needed, but nothing too bad. Wheeljack.... ugh... Not the deco I usually see complaints about, just nothing fits right like it did on past uses of the mold. His front section of the car won't even peg onto the midsection due to them using plastic that's too soft to hold the connection. Glad I didn't pay full price for that one. Even ten bucks seems high.

A few weeks ago, when I checked out their site, they were all pre-sold-out. I was sad, thinking I'd never get my hands on that amazing piece of puzzlement art. Grimlock will be pleased.

I contacted Robotkingdom asking for if anything a replacement right leg for Strafe, they asked for photos and I sent them pics showing he has two left thighs and knees and I've yet to hear back for a solution. I've contacted them yesterday for an update and still no reply back. Might be boned.
That sucks. This is one of the major reasons I don't order from overseas, especially cuz I have bad luck with this sort of stuff.

No, it's not. One side of the pin is extremely wide while the other side isn't. It's not as simple as pulling the pin out and putting it back in and the hinge for transformation is on the outer side of the knee. You cant just flip it and have two working left knees. The legs transformations is like the rook mold where the hinges need to be flush with the inside of the leg. To try and reverse it would not allow anything to lock in. You'd be damaging the figure more attempting to do it.

If you want to have some fun toys I would strongly recomend you get both G2 sets. Everyone has their preferences but any flaws with previous releases of the molds were corrected for the G2 versions so there are no outright flaws. For 60$ you are getting a hell of a deal for several hours of fun!

Bruticus, Defensor, and Computron are a nice mix of different types of figures, but it's hard for me to single only one of these out as a stand-out. I love Superion and Menasor, but they are either all aircraft or all vehicles. Bruticus is probably my favorite as it includes a plane, Rook type Jeep (well, more like a Humvee), that awesome Hot Spot/Onslaught center torso, and most importantly the Alpha Bravo mold in Vortex. Computron deserves mention because of the remolding of some previous characters. Plus, he comes with a yellow wheel.
(As an aside, I'm actually not that impressed with the UW Blast-Off shuttle and much prefer the Strafe remold, but that's a different thread...)
If I had to rank the CW Gestalts, I'd go:
1. Bruticus
2. Computron (might be this high because of newness)
3. Defensor
4. Victorion
5. Superion
6. Menasor
I don't count Devastator as that would be unfair to the other Gestalts
I also don't count Optimuses, Cyclonus, Sky Lynx, but that's just me. I prefer to keep these characters separate and uncombined...
Cheers!

Yeah, he feels really great, loved th esmooth faux-ratchets in his elbows

Hound and lynx were the only two I got from that wave, lynx feels like crap, but hound is nice and solid, if it weren't for the fact that his shell parts were miss-measured so he gets scrunched in vehicle mode

Agamemnon wrote:1. Bruticus
I agree. I went the Hasbro version for Bruticus and have no regrets. The deco on them is pretty cool and the toy homages are really nice. I find Hasbro Menasor really cool too, but with the retail limb assortment (whch means Offraod as opposed to wildrider) since while he is 4 land vehicles they are all very different.
And skylynx is a terrific torso, and with the limb assortment I use he ends up being one of the best combiners out there. Here is what my Skyreign is made of:
Mirage
Hound
Tralbreaker
Prowl
Those are by far the best limbs out there and with the skylynx torso it becomes one fo the best combiners I own.
And Agamemnon, I am wondering: If you like the Rook mold, and preffer the strafe version of the blastoff mold (as do I) and since the Superion torso is usually seen as the best, then would that mean that out of all CW and UW combienrs, the best one would be UW Computron?

I do really like the Rook mold. In fact, the three non-traditional G1 substitutes (Off-road, Rook, and Alpha Bravo) are my favorite CW deluxes. And yes, UW Computron might be my actual favorite modern gestalt not named Devestator. But I wanted to keep my list to the CW molds for this thread.
[Edit] Oh, and I was going to differ with you on the center torso. My favorite is Hot Spot/Onslaught. I like the Silverbolt mold, but my newest two Scattershots both have a loose shoulder, which makes it a weak hip joint as Computron. Not fatal, but drops my rating just a tad.

Yeah, Superion is the least interesting Combiner specifically because everyone's so similar (jet modes, robot modes, color schemes (even G2 is rather same-y apart from the golden one)). Menasor at least gives everyone wildly different color schemes so it's not so monotonous.
Bruticus is definitely the type of Combiner I like. Defensor is almost there, but I have a bias against Autobots. Doesn't help that red/white emergency vehicles are super common; hell for the longest time I though Red Alert was a Protectobot because it's just too damn confusing
Computron, for whatever reason, doesn't interest me in the slightest. *shrug*

That's good to hear.
To bad the older limbs aren't widely available now. I got a Sky Lynx with nobody to merge with, and Rook and Alpha Bravo look like they might be the best fits...
