Also a most excellent point!Bainreese wrote:More probable, having been in international shipping & logistics, TRU's container shipments went out a few days/a week ahead of smaller orders which meant they got on the water quicker, went through the port in LA and into TRU's own distribution network. BBTS's order is noticably smaller and thus would be toward the end of production, possibly being combined with other shipments onto one container as I doubt BBTS bought a solid 40' of Dev's and thus the logistics of that just take a bit longer.
Real talk: is it actually "bore"? (searches Google. It is indeed. Well then.)Sabrblade wrote:ScottyP wrote:"Nobody would follow an un-charismatic boar like you!"
I seriously always thought it to be a reference to the animal, but I guess in the context of the rest of the sentence "bore" works better. Suppose I just always imagined someone as faux-sophisticated as Hook to work in multiple degrees of put-downs simultaneously. Rats.

The reason for the differences between Hasbro and Takara’s Devastators was basically cost.
From today's Hasbro Panel. BOOYA! It is and always will be a question of cost.

I like that. Especially when the guy designing them designs masterpiece figures.
And yes Zero Wolf, it was obvious. But for some people, they just wouldnt let go that there could be a time issue. That maybe its because Takara had more time than them, No. Takara was willing to go the extra mile and pay the extra production costs, Hasbro wasnt. End of story.

Except more evidence indicates that it was vice versa, with Hasbro's coming first, then Takara adding to it for theirs.ZeroWolf wrote:Imagine if takara's version was made first then the designer had to remove things in order to fit it into hasbro budget

Well, we know that Takara handles the engineering. So for me it makes sense that they engineered them both at the same time and certain aspects were seperated. With the revamp on the engineering, they couldnt have just finished Hasbro first and then looked at what they could do. I feel that they did all their engineering for both products from the get go but dealt with Hasbro's first simply due to schedule and because Hasbro is the client, helping finance their own projects.
In the end, it doesnt matter how it happened or what happened because it is now confirmed that regardless of the time involved, Hasbro had a budget to meet and that was the main reason that they couldnt afford (literally) to have all the extra features found in Takara's.

$299.99 pre-order pricing makes my Green Giant seem like a bargain.

The biggest joke is the major etailers trying to charge $300 for the SDCC version with its goofy purple-chrome paint apps that don't match the rest of the purple and lacks the upgrades of the Takara version that will cost significantly less than the SDCC version.
$299.99 pre-order pricing makes my Green Giant seem like a bargain.
Truth!!!
Well... except for the disdain of the chrome. I happen to LIKE that...
The number one selling point for Hasbro here is PRICE. it takes every other complaint and cuts it off at the knees. Comparing $150 to $400... Apples and oranges. For the price, Hasbro is pretty awesome.
Jacking up the price to 3pp standards??? Ugggg... Yeah, that makes the complaints more worthy and doesn't sell the product as well.
Now it just has it's massive size going for it...

I'm guessing a lot of people would consider it to be Hook as he forms the head and shoulders (look at Voltron, head and shoulders were always the leaders).
But to me, it'll always be Scrapper. He's the embodiment of leadership, he literally has the weight of his team on his shoulders.
*boom tish*
Definitely going to hell now for bad jokes.

Anyway, I'll be waited my to get this figure down the road on clearance or eBay. If I can't find it for less than $100, then I'll just take a pass. I was very super excited when Devy was first announced, but as time has gone by, it just doesn't justify its price tag for me.

My kid mind always had Long Haul as the leader. Probably 'cause dump trucks are cool. I was surprised when I found out that Scrapper was the actual leader.
Now in my adult-ish mind I'm torn. I'm running on fumes of kid memories and at conflict with what is true to fiction. I kinda still see Long Haul as the leader.
More than likely when displayed and in my headcanon, I will continue to see Long Haul as the leader. He is the largest bot and will look better displayed in the center of the group when not combined. He also forms the core of Devy, which a lot of strength comes from.

Shoulda ordered it when I ordered Bluestreak..BUT there's a chance he'll be there tomorrow at the store!! Then 25% off FTW!!

The answer is always Scrapper. No question. This is why his death in the IDW books was a big freaking deal.Burn wrote:I got to thinking today (yeah I know, I shouldn't put so much pressure on my braincell) ... who do you consider to be the "leader" of the Constructicons.

Unrelated, I wanted to share a pic of the proper configuration of where all the Combiner pieces go in Long Haul's vehicle mode. This is such a great touch!
Alternately, the wings can attach to the back of Scrapper for a more G1-esque look. Bonecrusher and Scavenger can kind of/sort of carry the missile pods too if you want it too evoke their drills. Hook and Mixmaster though, best I can do on those with alt mode combiner piece storage is to fake it and walk away whistling.

I doubt that will happen, especially on e-bay. I foresee the opposite happening actually, especially with the Takara version. That 200$ we are paying now will look like peanuts later.

Saw some TRU discount stacking wizardry on one of the other boards where folks got this at TRU for $80-ish, though I'm pretty sure it involves having a TRU credit card. I'd link to it (even though it's offsite, whatevs man we're all pals), but can't find it again :/william-james88 wrote:Ironhidensh wrote:Wasn't Scrapper always shown as the leader back in the G1 'toon?

You can use a 25% off with TRU card (15% off and 20% off without card) and that would knock it down to $112.49, but wizardy to make it $80 would be AMAZING! Most coupons we get for BRU/TRU are "In-store Only". As it stands, I may see if they can order him if he's not in-stock so I can get him at that price. It probably won't happen but it's worth a shot.ScottyP wrote:Saw some TRU discount stacking wizardry on one of the other boards where folks got this at TRU for $80-ish, though I'm pretty sure it involves having a TRU credit card. It was always Scrapper in the cartoon. He too was the main rah rah boy of Megatron. Never realized that Hook, until recently was also like the "Starscream" of the team eyeing the leadership, but then again, given his "superior" unchrasematic boorish attitude..........wouldn't be surprised.

Ironically, Long Haul was the only one of the six who was never indicated as being the leader in any fiction:carytheone wrote:Burn wrote:I got to thinking today (yeah I know, I shouldn't put so much pressure on my braincell) ... who do you consider to be the "leader" of the Constructicons

TFWiki wrote:Unlike practically every other Combiner, the Constructicons do not have a firmly identified leader. Most of them can make some claim to leadership.
- Scrapper: Most commonly assumed to be the leader due to having the most lines in the cartoon and constantly speaking for the whole group, as well as giving most of the orders. His The Transformers Universe profile lists him as Megatron's favorite Constructicon, and Dreamwave's More than Meets the Eye explicitly names him as leader. He also has the highest rank of the bunch.
- Hook: Forms the head and much of the torso, a trait shared by the other combiner leaders. He got the second highest number of lines and certainly seemed to be the one issuing all the orders in the non-flashback parts of "The Secret Of Omega Supreme". Is clearly defined as the leader in Wings Universe.
- Mixmaster: As noted [in the Marvel UK "Space Pirates" story], he was briefly indicated to have ascended to leadership in 2008, and is seen giving the orders in "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5" as well.
- Scavenger: Shockwave gives the Constructicons' orders to him in their comic debut as if he were the leader. [Marvel issue #10 "The Next Best Thing to Being There!"]
- Bonecrusher: Led the Constructicons on their mission to recover the fallen Decepticons from the Ark. [Marvel issue #41 "Totaled!"]
- Long Haul: Sorry, Long Haul, you lose again...

Movie figures are all sorted, getting rid of a bunch and freed up one shelf (to be used for future Masterpieces).
Temporarily relocated the TF:P 'Cons to a pile on the floor, allowing me to move (original) RiD figures from one shelf to another, which puts them directly beneath the other (original) RiD shelf, it also freed up another shelf which had a lot of height.
Which brings us to the reason why I'm posting all this in the Devastator thread.
I took the big guy upstairs, went to put him into place on the new shelf ... nope. Too big.
So I'm looking around the room at the tops of all the shelves to see where he could fit. Nope ... just no room.
Of course while I'm standing there holding him, HE'S GETTING HEAVIER AND HEAVIER!
Then I realised that said free shelf is adjustable. Was able to drop it down a little (not much room now between he shelf and the top of Animated Megatrons head!) to squeeze Devastator in. The annoying part is Hooks boom which hangs out behind, quite a considerable distance which leaves a bit of wasted space behind him. I know it's never been done in any of the fiction, but geez it would be nice of that boom could fold down.
Now to start surrounding him with a bunch of "CHUG" 'Cons.
