Well, no need to wonder now since we actually have our first listing of this figure in the states. This listing from Dorksidetoys.com confirms that this figure is part of May Mayhem and is scheduled for a release in the states in, well, May for the price of $17.99 USD. This site gets its toys directly from the manufacturer, as the price indicates.
This listing is currently sold out, but by no means is this cause to worry. Instead it is simply solid evidence that this toy will be available at more stateside retailers in the near future.
For those outside the US, here is a list of other sites currently listing Hasbro's deluxe Groove:

In other words Hasbro has put an embargo on this information just like they did last year. Something official will be said soon I'm sure, keep an eye on Facebook.

John Warden said at Toy Fair that Takara made their Groove and Blast Off figures without Hasbro input, and we know that Takara only made those two because Hasbro had other plans for Groove and Blast Off in Combiner Wars that didn't align with Takara's "beholden to G1" mindset.Kurona wrote:The thing is, I don't exactly see how it's exclusively "Takara's Blast Off", other than just being revealed first - and that's the very shaky logic this seems to be being based on. It's not like Hasbro and Takara design them independently, then when Takara makes something new Hasbro suddenly sees it at the same time as us and is all like "Oh, well I'll take that too for my market thank you very much". Both companies will surely have known the others' plans well in advance - HasTak's a partnership that have only grown closer and closer to each other in the past few years.
Why, the Takara Groove mold itself has several design and engineering aspects that clash with all the Hasbro-designed CW Deluxes:
- Takara Groove has an additional sprue of clear plastic that none of the Hasbro CW Deluxes have
- Takara Groove has two weapon accessories in addition to its hand/foot/gun, whereas all the Hasbro CW Deluxes only have a single non-HFG weapon each.
- Takara Groove was still in the gray prototype stage long after the molds of his fellow Protectobots were already completed.
- And, Takara Groove was given special attention in promotional materials like magazines and ads, which Takara did not do for either Slingshot or Wildrider, showing how much more unique and special the Groove mold was in its own right.

Personally I kind of like the idea of Rook as a wrecker. Mostly because of his strong body frame and his ridiculous hulk hands of doom. Still... there's something about AB and Rook that seems sort of... droney in vehicle mode; I don't know how to explain it. I'm not saying that they can't have personality or whatever and there's a lot you can attach to them, but personally I kind of like them has Sky Lynx's little drone force. It's a nice compromise to me between his G1 and Combiner self.
I display Rook on my Wreckers shelf armed to the teeth with dual axe hands and some of Whirl's armaments when he's not combined. He looks great with them!
My drone is Wheeljack, mostly because he looks terrible, but maybe WJ had to make a prototype vehicon type thing and spiced it up with some of his personality and looks. Or he just attempted to clone himself and failed so we're stuck with this abomination version of him.
But, uh, oh yeah... I missed out on Brakeneck and Quickslinger somehow and I'm still kicking myself for it. I won't make the same mistake with Groove(and hopefully Blast-Off in the future).

But walmart and toysrus had plenty once may came around. You ddint need to preorder last year inorder to get a copy. These were available for a solid 2 months once out.

Marvel G1 Ratchet
G2 Ratchet
Rescue Bot Medix
G1 Ratchet
There is also SG Rathet in this shot of all 5 toys:

Are you handy with a paint brush and do you have a club membership? I have neither so I am screwed all the way, but if you have those then all hope is not lost. These figures are available on their website store later. However, it will be unpainted with no stickers. But autobot stickers arent hard to come by and ratchet just needs some red and black in certain areas to work. It will cost you double retail for an unpainted figure, I will grant you that, but its not impossible to own.

Yeah, I'm not a club member. I spend too much on plastic crack as it is. And really, maybe I was a bit too strong in the wording that this sucks. More, I am disappointed, but not enough to get one and paint it myself. (I have done some model painting, but not for a number of years.)

Would there have been a middle gound (like a pricey exclusive that you dont have to paint) or is it that you would only have gotten this if it was a normal retail figure? I will tll you what I think sucks a bit: this Ratchet looks more like Ratchet than CW Ironhide looks like Ironhide. And I actually preffer the first air mode for some reason (the arms sure peg better for arms mode) so it kind of blows that its the other mold we got doubles of at retail. Also, neither of the two we got at retail actually represent a G1 characer properly. Offroad is a new character and Ironhide's alt mode is movie themed with a G1 pallette. While the van is perfect for Ratchet and First Aid.

I would have preferred Ironhide as the First Aid mold too. I also would have preferred a regular retail release (of course!) but if this was an exclusive, say for around $30 USD.....maybe? If he would have been released in May Madness with Groove, I probably would have jumped.
I think what is bugging me is the completionist in me. I had expected an eventual Ratchet after seeing Ironhide. But I'm not too put out...

I feel that looks too much like G1 megatron cosplaying as Armada Megs. The Takara show exclusive does a nicer job of the paint arrangement on the chest.

This is to start some Computron and Liokaiser discussion over here in the actual combiner wars thread.
Well, with the reveal of the Hasbro version in whole, I am still on the fence. Hasbro for me is much cheaper that takara. Hasbro to me has the better looking Strafe. Takara has the far better individual modes for the other 3 limbs, but the issue with that Nosecone to me makes for a bad looking leg with that massive lump below his knee, whereas the combined Hasbro Nosecone makes for such a better silhouette even if the individual is complete crap. I also love the new tooling on Scattershot that is evident on Computron. So yeah, that's where we stand. I will display these guys combined pretty much all the time, so it really comes down to those versions, and both have ups and downs.
also, the fact that we are getting a Liokaiser is pretty sweet. Still waiting on an official reveal, but it is very cool they are doing one
Posted by Kurona on April 9th, 2016 @ 1:16pm CDT
I do wonder why on earth they decided to display Liokaiser with extended tank legs though. If people try to do that he's just gonna fall over hilariously.

Where this version of Computron falls short for me:
Nosecone and Lightyear altmodes
The lack of a new head/chest for Comp
The lack of new head sculpts for the individual bots.
The mish-mash colors of both individual figures and Comp.
Nice that Afterburner has some Orange, but for me there's too much red, black (or dark gray), and that green windshield is not good.
And I do stand corrected-- the new hands and feet do match the darker red of the torso/head.
I get if people like and want the Hasbro version, but for not that much more, I think there are a lot of improvements with the UW version that are well worth it.

Scrounge looks like he kept Cosmos' flying saucer mode, which is similar enough to a wheel. I'm spotting a peg right behind Strafe's cockpit, Scrounge saucer mode probably has a 5mm (screw) hole on the underside.

I was gonna agree that Takara wins on all acount, but its tougher than I thought.
Here is my Rundown:
Afterburner: Hard win for Takara since those guns are INCREDIBLE and add to the futuristic version of the toy when you add them to the sides of the motorcyle. Hasbro didnt bother much with their version. Same head and the same gun molds as before but without clear plastic. Plus that green winsdhield is beyond weird.
Nosecone: Takara owns this one too. This is probably the lamest offering from hasbro. It's just the terrible Brawl mold redeco'd, same head and everything, and a weak drill accessory.
Scattershot: Hasbro's deco is AMAZING. The light blue looks good, sure, but the intricate paint job in alt mode makes me wish Takara wasnt so damn show accurate. I mean the mold isnt even close to the look the G1 one had, so why cant you play with the molding detail and work your paintjob around that. Hasbro's is absolutely gorgeous. The bot modes for both are rather similar in how good the paint job is, but when it comes to the Torso Takara wins for the simple reason that the head is totally new. I said it once, but the head is the most identifying part of a character so having a different head really sets that combiner as his own unique character and not the same torso with different limbs on.
Lightspeed: Takara wins this for the simple fact that Hasbro's is just a straight up redeco. There is absolutely nothing new here and the lightbar is there for all to see. Still, I like the sides being white at the bottom, it breaks up the colours nicely. But Takara still wins for not being lazy.
Strafe: Speaking of not being lazy, both sides did a good job here. I do preffer Takara's but I would have been fine with either. I just find takara a little more sleek. Hasbro's has some pretty terrible undercarriage. But the effort is there and he even has a new head. This turned out to be super interesting since this is totally different than what some privaledged people had seen before with Hasbro's Strafe just being a redeco of an aerialbot.
Extras: hasbro wins here since Takara doesnt have any extras.
Its fun, I dont think there is an inferior combiner, you both get good stuff for the money. I am choosing Takara though because each member and the combiner himself looks more like their own individual rather than being another toy in a different paint scheme.

Strafe -> Bombard
Lightspeed -> Warpspeed
Nosecone -> Screwdrive
Afterburner -> Reheat
I justify these on the basis that the molds are all different and have different heads(except for Afterburner, in which case only the heads are different between Hasbro and Takara), so, like with Hasbro's Blast Off, I could put them beside their more G1 inspired TakaraTomy versions and say with confidence that they are different characters with similar kinds of alt modes and/or color schemes, but obviously not the same individuals.

However, I want Scrounge, and I think I can repurpose most of Hasbro's Technobot limbs as new "alternate" characters, much like how Alpha Bravo and Offroad warm the benches for the Aerialbots and Stunticons respectively. So too with the "jet" version of Blast Off from Hasbro, I'll keep him as a back-up member of the Combations from Unite Warriors Bruticus. I've got a working name of "Take Off" for the brown jet. I've got some similar monikers for the Technobot-ish members of Hasbro's Computron set:
Strafe -> Bombard
Lightspeed -> Warpspeed
Nosecone -> Screwdrive
Afterburner -> Reheat

Hasbro's already got you covered for most of them; they had to change most the Technobot's names for licencing purposes or something.
