LOL! Seriously eh? I went and saw it at the IMAX and loved it all over again. Preferred it actually. Heard some dialogue I missed before with the better sound quality. The bigger screen was awesome too. No brainer really. Must see on IMAX!

It may be listed 20th of all time domestic box office gross, but when you take into account only the non-prequel/sequel movies it's 9th. The other factors to account for are, re-release, special editions, and IMAX (the TF total didn't include IMAX). So then the standings would be:
Titanic $600,788,188
Spider-Man $403,706,375
The Passion of the Christ $370,274,604
E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial $359,197,037
Jurassic Park $357,067,947
Finding Nemo $339,714,978
Forrest Gump $329,694,499
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone $317,575,550
Transformers $315,175,018
The Lion King $312,855,561
Star Wars $307,263,857
Also; it's 1st for a Tuesday opening, 2nd for PG-13, 2nd for a 7-4 release, AND 1st for all time cyborg/android/robot movie, beating out the Govanator!

I knew you were gonna say that..LOL
It was "tasteless" to what you and I expected perhaps; however, the average person on the street apparently enjoyed it enough to drop $315 mill on it (granted $75 is mine...heh heh). To quote former Cardinals head coach Dennis Green, it was what we thought it was: entertaining and enjoyable. Now we wait to see just how much the sequel makes.

Is anyone else getting tired of being called the "Lowest Common Denominator"? There are plenty of artsy fartsy movies that may be good, but most people want an escape when they watch a movie. Sure, some of those highest grossing movies are bad (I disagree about SM3), but we aren't complete dunderheads for liking big movies.
And we all know Phantom Menace was big because we were all excited about a new Star Wars movie. We didn't know it sucked.

i think paramount messed up when they released transformers.. they only had about a week and a half before the harry potter fans chose their movie over harry potter and yet paramount didn't do a full release, especially oversees. they relased in most major markets in europe about a month after the official release.. plus, they were competing with the sequels when transformers came out.. die hard, harry potter, and i believe spiderman were the sequels they were going against.
so, in short, transformers could've made soo much more money, but they dropped the ball in the release of the movie and maybe even choosing the date.
