Unfortunately the stock drop from the Easy Bake Oven fiasco outweighed the returns on the film up until now.

HP5 had about the same loss rate as Transformers did.
Another $20 Million worldwide and it will surpass Pirates #3.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easy_Bake_Oven#Recalls
Recalls
In February 2007, Hasbro and the Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled 985,000 Easy-Bake toy ovens after finding that kids' hands and fingers can get caught in the oven's opening, thereby posing serious risk of burns.[4] Since the February 2007 announcement, an additional 249 reports of children getting their hands or fingers caught in the ovens, including 16 reports of second- and third-degree burns. As a result, Hasbro recalled all front-loading Easy Bake ovens sold since May 2006, even those that were repaired with the free kit distributed after the February 2007 recall. This unfortunate turn of events was the result of Hasbro's apparently ill conceived redesign of the original time tested Easy-Bake Oven. [5]
Some of the EBOs that I saw, were priced between $30-50.00 a piece, so that's a hell of an expensive recall....O_o...
Oh and the movie? All bets are off now. I'll be honest, I didn't think the public would be this receptive...ever. I was expecting a nice modest number around $3-400 million. I was incorrect and it continues to climb.
Wow.
Amazing.

But then again, i'm planning to see the movie for the third time this weekend and out of those three times i'll have only paid to see it once.

Hmm, Movie cost 150 million to make. so that leaves oh about 376 million dollars profit. Nope not a sucess at all. And your opinion about Armageddeon not being good is just that, your opinion. But yeah like you said, not a sucess at all.

making half a billion?! they HAVE to make a sequel. And you know how money hungry the movie studios are, im pretty sure theyll crank one out by summer 2009. i wouldnt be surprised if they already started writing the script.

And the thing that sucks it that I still haven't seen it. Not that I didn't want to go or anything, It now seems like i'm one of only a few who can't go due to lack of fundage and/or medical problems (ie: a mental disorder that prevents you from going out into crowds alone ie: again - me)

I guess most people just haven't seen giant near-realistic robots on screen. And sexy looking ones at that!

Well the reason is because it was the first new StarWars Movie in 20 years and tickets are more expensive now.
Back on topic, The Movie will continue to earn money for the next few weeks and then just wait and see what happens when the DVD is released...

I didn't think they included DVD sales in box office gross...but if they do, you're right; I would be willing to wager we could actually see the movie climb into that coveted number 2 spot. Personally I don't understand how Titanic grossed almost 2 billion; it was a horrible movie.
For all you investors, I'd be buying up Hasbro stock before their 3Q profit reports come out...the stock is going to go up significantly when they announce them. Does anyone know when the third quarter reports are released, perchance?
I'm doing my part in the meantime, having seen the flick 7 times now. I just sit in the theater with a big grin on my face when i watch it, loving every minute and soaking it all in..

Oh, after careful consideration I have determined that there will be at least one movie that surpasses Transformers at the box office: Transformers 2 Imagine what THAT will make if you throw in all the build-up hype that is inherent to sequels!

Not really. They'll just continue to combine the two. Which is...creepy.
