I wont be able to buy these until after my son gets them -unless I buy two of each. * nope, it would be getting expensive -he is already wanting tidal wave, unicron and black arachnia bishoujos.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but these don't look as sexualised as I would have thought, so, if I'm right, kudos to the Kotobukiya.

I'm also happy they didn't go for the "Gundam-armour-onna-bikini-babe" look that so many other fan-artists, 3P and official model kit makers release. I'm still not sure if my Japanese girlfriend would be cool with me buying these though...

I wish they were smaller and cuter, because then she wouldn't mind, I think.

I would be more interested if they used similar styles to the "Borderlands" game. I'm not showing necessarily about the cell-shaded look, but rather the proportions of the physiques. Even with Moxxi and her sister aside (or not, if you take into account their rather well-done storylines), I think they would look cool done up like that. That or the women in "The Outer Worlds"? None of those females were "sexy" but they were "sexual" (ie., Had sex lives) and still looked like cool science fiction females, which didn't pander too the male gaze. I'm sure there is anime that depicts women in a similar way but still retains that certain "anime" aesthetic, right? Anyone here know what I'm trying to say and/or have any examples?

Seems to be a Hasbro mandate. The G.I.Joe Bishoujos are sexy without being hyper sexualized like the game, movie and comic figures while the MLP figs are more of a cute-sexy than anything. The Transformers seem to go both ways with Prime being closer to the MLP side and Megatron going the Joe way.

Oh, and these Bishoujos often get at least two repaints so Prime in Black or White and Megatron with black hair or even a Galvatron variant are entirely possible. Lady Jaye's repaint was of an obscure Indian figure and Scarlett's repaint was an obscure Argentinian figure. Meanwhile Baroness got her original cartoon/comic colors and later Crimson Guard uniform as a figure.





All of the MLP figures got their regular pony colors and clear hair. No repaint is too obscure here. Let's see some Bathing Ape camo Primes.

Based on these designs, I think Megatron needs to be at least 2 cup sizes larger than Optimus. I really look forward to seeing more of these done. Hot Rod and Arcee top of my list. I do hope they don't just repaint Optimus to Make Madnus though, but they probably will.
I also expect to hear in the future more complaints about them doing an Arcee or Wingblade then any of the "male" transformers.
As far as the seekers go, so many possible repaints there, but I really hope they come up with some way to make them physically different as well as color wise.

Optimus is a big "meh" for me. The truck kibble are daf and the mechanic theme makes no sense.

But thay Megatron... holy mamma! Everything works superbly!
She will be mine.

Now, I expect a Winblade in full sexy geisha get-up with a katana.

Also, why not a pretty expensive Soundwave set? She would be a nice MILF surrounded by her minions who would be her young and cute children.

Also, why not Arcee in full Evrest mountain climbing gear?
The boots, coat, beanie, earmuffs, blue shades, and to top it off, a GINORMOUS backpack!

I think it's 1 of those subjects that while acceptable to post and talk about, doesn't need a spotlight on it like it's being done here.

Otherwise, even though I'm not a big fan of this type of art, I do think they look well-done.

1/ Just because some females have made such videos, doesn't excuse such behaviour. They might have made them to get more ad revenue, for example, or have a minority view not shared by most other women/girls. They might even be a parody of similar videos. Money makes many of us do things we otherwise wouldn't and this has been widely discussed in relation to the objectification of women. Just because "some" women are happy to be objectified, doesn't mean all of them are. Also, how do we know all of the videos by "women" are made by actual women at YouTube?

Regardless, even if I myself might like such videos (Although I cannot tell as I've not watched them), if they are anything like you've suggested, then I wouldn't be sharing them publicly here. We need to be more inclusive, right?

2/ The "if you don't like it, then leave" argument is not really relevant here. These figures (arguably), IMO at least, aren't to the same degree of objectification as, say, "Kiss Players", which is why I engaged with this thread. They seem, at least to me, to be more cute than overly sexy to me (Although Megatron is pushing it a bit). Many others here have also been able to discuss the figures (including the dimensions of certain body parts) without resorting to language that could (hopefully) not be misconstrued as that of a hormone-raging 13 year-old boy.

Also, even if anyone here DID have any problems with something at the site (be it content, comments, etc), I believe it's their right to enter a related thread and post their views on the matter.

Again, for the record, my post here isn't to criticise the figures, nor even to complain about the discussion of the physical dimensions of them. I would just like to give a friendly reminder to avoid language that might give the impression that the sexual objectification of women was "ok" at Seibertron (which I don't think it is).

I will say that fanart of these two designs is coming from artists with a range of genders, so it's probably safe to assume that the market for the actual product will not be men exclusively. Personally I'm holding out for Rodimus or Screamer. I'm a fan of fembots like Windblade, but I doubt I would like her in a Bishoujo design.

More than just safe to assume, it's a fact that both women and men buy these kinds of statues. I'm actually wondering if the MLP ones were more purchased by women than men even, given that the initial fan base was more women than men.

And also, I will say that as a heterosexual man, I don't find these statues all that sexy nor scandalous. None of these gave me an erection. And the general opinion I am seeing online in social media is that these are rather tame, maybe because they are based on kids properties owned by Hasbro, as we saw with MLP.

TMI but I take your point and agree, I really liked the MLP designs and these seem to be going for a similar aesthetic.

They nailed the MLP girls with a sledgehammer. They are so perfect! Too bad space and money prevented me from buying any.

I once considered the Baroness, but her face didn't sit right with me. Baroness is supposed have a square jaw, not a pointy chin.

What I love to see in an anime girl figure is a nice balance of nice-ass with bad-ass. Add a dash of cuteness for perfection. The whole package not falling into any carricatural pitfalls like an oversised chest or an unnaturally twisted spine.

A librarian! Of course! Why didn't the company think of that? The trailer could be a book and roller could be those ladders on rails you see in old libraries, maybe?

I already own the MLP and GI Joe statues, at least the initial releases. No room or money to buy repaints. These two are easy buys for me. I am very impressed how they translated them into human form.

As a side note, I have managed to secure an order for a pair of cheap recasts of the old Dimension Diver/Daibadi GaoGaiGar girl kits (the real deal being extremely rare and expensive) which I'm intending to rework into an R63 Prime and Megatron. Gonna do Prime up to reference Yellow Splendid Convoy (need to think of a better name...) whilst Megatron will be a Megatronia homage.

As for the Omega I propose, the Kotobukiya Bishoujo Leatherface gives a solid basis of what I have in mind.

This is clearly not for me, but I really like these designs. Optimus is especially good: it has so many nods to the original character, both obvious (the Matrix necklace, the crest glasses), subtle (the belt, the jacket chest pockets imitating windows) and in-between (the trailer case, the wheeled boots), while still avoiding the "girl in sci-fi armor cosplay" aesthetic; the only way this could be better is if they included the mouthplate (though I can see why a mask wouldn't be appreciated, given the last couple years), and maybe Roller as a pet or RC.

Megatron, on the other hand...feels very basic, and way too subtle for its own good. The only thing remotely Megatron-y about it is the cannon, and maybe the belt.

Gonna be honest, seeing a cannibal serial killer who regularly wears human skin converted into a "sexy girl" feels a bit disturbing. But then again, as I said, this is not for me anyway.

The belt for sure. Her hair is also cut in the shape of Megatron's helmet, she has black eye shadow over her red eyes to represent the black spaces over his eyes without looking clownish, plus the red liner of gray jacket. Personally I think Megatron is more successful and cohesive than "blue haired girl in a red jacket with impractical goggles and nonsensical wheels on her boots carrying a rolling briefcase for some reason."
