Well, since the original had that stupid "evil-squint" face, if this one comes with the "correct" (IMHO) face that Tigertrack used, that would be the definition of a worthwhile improvement.Black Bumblebee wrote:While it's nice and all... is this needed? You can find this figure rather easily on eBay,for a low amount of money, in both official and KO flavors. Heck, I saw someone selling a G2 version for $10 earlier today! If they re-issue it, it needs to be different in "some" way to make it worth while...
I say "if" because I can't enlarge the pic enough to see his face...oh wait, this is just the promo pics from the original, isn't it?
That's precisely why I bought the KO a year and a half ago: correct face, and there was no guarantee of any Takara or Hasbro reissue at the time. I'll gladly buy the real deal to downgrade him to evil-clone-from-Deadly-Paradise-status, but I honestly thought we'd have a Hasbro version by now...or is this a good sign that Hasbro MP Sideswipe is being produced for this summer? IRC his name showing up in computers before Bluestreak, but we still haven't gotten any confirmation right? Just the assumption that Hasbro'd do him and Red Alert while they still had the license from clearing Lockdown's vehicle mode. Well, here's hopin'!

There was another way. Oddly enough, Taara made an exclusive version which came without the tampograph on the hood, meaning that if you spotted that one online it was actually the real thing and not a knock off.
Does anyone know if that exclusive one had the corrected face? I ask because it is technically the last time that mold was used before this new announcement.

Ideally, his eyes will be baby blue instead of metallic (I don't mind the base face) to match more current releases, and if we're super lucky, the hands will be retooled so he can hold his gun snugly without issue. If this reissue does either, I'll buy it.

Whelp, better add that to the "Expensive Figures I Really Want To Go Ahead And Preorder But Can't Right Away Like I Wish I Could Do" list.

Some people just want Takara Masterpiece figures under some assumption they are intrinsically superior to Hasbro versions.
Heck, I saw somebody say the Seeker molds are "too small" and hopes X-Transbots does them larger (I suppose...there'd be no point mentioning it otherwise). I don't agree with that guy at all...they are perfectly scaled in robot mode.
My main point is, people are techy about the MP-11 mold for varying reasons.

Firstly, a reissue of Takara's MP 11 was not confirmed. Only MP 12 and MP 10, the rest is rumour. As for Hasbro's MP 11 reissue, something tells me it wont have as much accessories. The reason I say this is because it was confirmed by a personal visit to toysrus with the correct SKN code that Hasbro's starscream will cost as much as the reissue of Bluestreak (80$ cdn). So the toy value must be around the same unless that means its an amazing deal for a coronation starscream.

I'm late to the game, but I REALLY want a 'real' masterpiece Starscream.
On a separate note... does anyone know how tall the Spike figure is that comes with MP-10? Anyone know how it scales with the 2.5" guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers AoU figures?
Always loved how Spider-man teamed up with the autobots in the original marvel comics... Curious how these guys look?

I've read it a couple times now and I'm confused. I assume it means its delayed, but it doesn't actually say that. Just that its changed. And it doesn't have an estimate date either. Anyone else hear something similar?

Oh well. I have a bit of good news.
I want my Takara and Hasbro MP10's to be a little more different, so I thought I'd go the Soundwave route with toy accurate yellow eyes. Someone informed me (sorry don't remember who) that theres a guy who makes replacement MP10 eyes, so I checked him out and he was long sold out. I emailed him a while ago if he'd ever make more and he said "if there was demand".
With the upcoming reissue I figured I'd try again, here's what he told me:
nonnef wrote:Demand has shown itself. Looks like I'll be making more with the new injection machines. Keep your ears peeled.=)
So I can get my yellow eyes, others can brighten up their blue eyes, hooray for everything! I'll be keeping an eye on his store and let y'all know when they're in stock!

shajster, by any chance did you get the Hasbro version with the yellow eyes? And you want to convert it to red? I can send you my extra "red optic" decals by Ocean, you just pay for the shipping. I have two red optics decal replacements btw

Thanks for the offer! But yellow is what I'm going forfenrir wrote:shajster, by any chance did you get the Hasbro version with the yellow eyes? And you want to convert it to red? Also anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but MP10 has never been released with yellow eyes. I think it goes like this:
Original Takara MP10 - pale blue eyes
Hasbro MP10 - bright blue eyes
YOTH - brighter blue eyes
MP10B - red eyes
MP10 BAPE - gold eyes
MP10 EVA - white/yellow eyes
My plan is to have a side collection of MP's that are OG toy accurate, which is where the dark blue'd TT MP10 (with yellow eyes) would fit in. MP Silverstreak and Bumblebee w/ faceplate is what inspired me to do it.

Would you like to know that even for MP-10 optics, Ocean Designs has one too? Some disassembly needed.

First the Legacy Megazord reissue and now this.
What's next?
Soul of Chogokin Goldymarg will be hit as well?
What about Sentinel's Dancouga?

The oldies are the best mein freund! Anyway, its a high probabilty that the other MPs might also experience some delays (like WJ and BB)
The demand for Convoy would even be more higher.

Wolfman Jake wrote:What is the general consensus on Takara's versus Hasbro's version of "MP-10"? I know that Takara's features a silver painted interior for the trailer and a screen accurate silver Roller, while Hasbro's has an unpainted (plain gray plastic) interior for the trailer, and a toy accurate blue Roller, plus painted eyes and painted cab roof lights on Optimus himself. However, which version has the more screen accurate colors for Optimus Prime? Hasbro's has a brighter and generally lighter blue and red than Takara's, but does that make it more or less accurate to Prime's G1 screen appearance? I've heard before that Takara's colors make the figure more G1 toy accurate, but I've seen debate on that as well.
Optics are dark blue molded. And I have to agree that the color approximates the original G1 toy's colors. Aside from the optics, I wish TT had also colored his chest headlights like that of Hasbro's

Takara - Dark blue plastic (cartoon accurate), dim blue eyes (not so much).
Hasbro - Light blue (while pleasing, not accurate), bright blue eyes (accurate).

Wolfman Jake wrote:So, what is the general opinion on the definitive screen accurate MP-10, Takara's version or Hasbro's? Details such as the eyes and the cab roof lights don't matter so much for this question as the plastic colors on Prime himself.
They're both accurate. Depends on which frame you pull from the cartoon. The eyes are everything though.

On the plus side, BBTS got the Hasbro version in stock for $30 cheaper. It was tough choosing which one looked better... Even with the slight color shifts, they both look better then my YOTH version... I bit the bullet and ordered me the Hasbro one and canceled the pre-order!!!
Arrived today! Now to try to hold off a week or so till my birthday
Maybe order some reprolabels in the meantime

Either one is great, but most people prefer the Hasbro version for his pretty bright eyes.phantom1592 wrote:On the plus side, BBTS got the Hasbro version in stock for $30 cheaper. Not gonna lie; I hate - HATE - the bright gaudy blue of the Hasbro release. The dark blue of the Taraka release is so much classier and follows both the original G1 toy's appearance and - more often than not - the cartoon. I don't know what Hasbro was going for with that blindingly-bright, oversaturated blue they use, but can only assume they got a super deal on it at Crazy Eddie's Discount Clown Paints Emporium (exit 57 at the corner of Hwy 61 and Washington).

Don't know what TT was going for at the time but yeah....why not just recreate the same blue optics color shade of MP-01? And those upper lights on his chest. Why did TT not color it? Aside from those two issues, based on my personal preference MP-10 is still the boss.
I also read somewhere that the Hasbro trailer isn't even painted aluminum silver..that's just the molded colors.

Takara should use this opportunity to give MP-10 painted eyes like the Hasbro version and their own Autobot cars.

Price at this moment is the same - $69.99 for the in-stock 2nd production run and $69.99 elsewhere to pre-order the September reissue. But wasn't the 2nd production run issued by Hasbro Asia, where-as the September reissue is a Takara Tomy release? And didn't the 2nd production run use the wrong headsculpt?

What isn't quite surprising, whether its the TT or Hasbro release, the box (brown cardboarding)has the blue Hasbro fonts. So same factory I guess.

Yeah, I've been considering the Asia re-release preorder of Sideswipe since TFSource has it at a good price, but I'm wary of MP Sideswipe in general given the paint issues in the reviews of the currently available version (shades of red don't match between panels, most visible in alt mode which is the mode I'd display him in quite often, and some actual small defects like bubbles or drips). Any chance that a re-release means they'd change the material used in the mold on the pieces that don't match well, so it's not a black base painted red but actually white or gray or red base material that will enable the red paint to match the shade of red on the other red plastic/metal areas?
