Director Michael Bay has tapped John Goodman and Ken Watanabe to voice two all new Autobots in his highly anticipated film “TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION,” the fourth film in the global blockbuster franchise from Paramount Pictures.
Goodman and Watanabe will join legendary voice actors Peter Cullen and Frank Welker.
Goodman will play Autobot Hound, Watanabe will play Drift, while Cullen reprises his role as the voice of Optimus Prime, and Welker takes on another new character, Galvatron.
“I am pleased to welcome two gifted and versatile actors, John Goodman and Ken Watanabe, to the world of Transformers,” said Bay. “And to reteam with Peter and Frank, who have brought Transformers characters alive from the beginning. I’ve been fortunate to work with some of the best voice talent in the business, and together we will introduce several exciting new robots to fans of the franchise around the world.”
Rounding out the voice-over cast are actors John DiMaggio, Mark Ryan, Robert Foxworth and Reno Wilson. DiMaggio and Ryan will take on the new characters Crosshairs and Lockdown respectively, while Foxworth reprises the role of Ratchet and Wilson returns as Brains.

The Thuggernaut wrote:YES! Hey, wouldn't this be the first time Frank Welker voices a character named Galvatron?
Nope! Welker was Galvatron in the third season of the original Generation One cartoon, while Leonard Nimoy played him in the original movie.

I see, that would explain why he sounded so different in the movie and the third season, thanks!

THIS. Though, while not a surprise by any means, the radio sound bites were a tired bit after the first movie.
I am a little surprised that Brains is back, but without Wheelie. Also glad to see that Ratchet is hopefully going to be in the movie for more than just the scene where he gets attacked and shot down by Attinger's people..
I'm sure the other actors will do fine. Maybe John DiMaggio will voice Leadfoot as well as Crosshairs? We all know Frank Welker's work, John Goodman and Ken Watanabe are both well-respected.
My only real concern is that no voice actors are listed for Stinger or the Dinobots- not even Grimlock. Does that mean they won't speak at all, or even transform? Ugh....only 49 days until we find out!

But the pessimist in me wonders if Frank's only going to do growls and roars with Galvatron...
(Hmm, would I prefer a G1-ish voice, or a deeper Dr. Claw-ish one?)
And I do wonder if I should be concerned about the lack of Dinobot VAs...

This might not be every voice role. Stinger, if he does speak, isn't listed either.Noideaforaname wrote:And I do wonder if I should be concerned about the lack of Dinobot VAs...

Hell, Hound can get you a toe by 3 o'clock this afternoon... with nail polish.
Sorry, but someone had to do it.

Now will he smash a toad and tell optimus they can give you warts?

EDIT:
Though now I'll be sad if John Turturro's not going to be in this.

John Dimiggio should totally give Crosshairs his Bender/Jake the dog voice! Also I hope Frank gives Galvatron a new voice not his season 3 voice. Also no Lance Henriksen Lockdown. BOO!

Mark Ryan is an interesting choice, as I can only see him as a non-serious character after Jetfire and his other in-the-flesh roles. I wonder how Lockdown turns out with him.
John Goodman and Ken Watanabe are wonderful news, as is Welker, but I just hope that they don't think to use Drift as a generic 'Asian' character, rather than Japanese. There is also still the Mandarin-only speaking character to be revealed (possibly the Stinger clones?) - I'm wary of what route they might go down, but for now really quite pleased!

I wouldn't mind something closer to TF Prime's Megatron, myself.

Despite the many complaints from others, this movie is actually sounding better and better. Can't wait for it to hit the theaters...

He's Sgt. Bulkhound anyway.

John just needs to be John just like Cullen is Cullen...I truly hope this is what happens.

I'm not. His character got more and more idiotic with each movie. He even broke the 4th wall at the end of DoTM.
As for Goodman voicing a Transformer, it's great. I was hoping it would be a Decepticon, he has a good deep and booming voice for it. He's 1 of my favorite actors, glad to see him involved, and I guess he does fit with Hound, they're both big and burly guys.

Yeah his vehicle mode was used briefly during filming so he definitely appears in at least one other scene before being mowed down. Both he and Leadfoot were completely absent during filming of the latter portions of the movie, so I'd say it's safe to assume they're both killed off.
BTW, I have a feeling something which was seen in the trailer isn't really considered a spoiler.
