Perhaps not, but $26 each is a good deal, assuming they're going to cost more at regular retail.

Thats a great deal. AlthoughI preffer the voyager Grimlock. With prices like that for eladers, I wonder if the voyagers will be even cheaper

Ok, so we now know that they both change in 18 steps, making Scourge still the most complex figure with 19 steps and he is simply a deluxe. This lets us know that the bigger the figure does not add to the complexity this time as well (too bad). Does anyone know how many steps are involved with the voyager transformations?

The voyager classes also change in 18 steps. So Scourge is officially the most complex figure documented so far. Too bad.

Although I will say taht I find it cool that the grimlocks have entirely different transformations. Do you guys preffer the tail being used as his legs or as a weapon?

And which version do you preffer overall?

I was soooo going to avoid ordering any AOE figures. I bet Amazon has ordered so many of these that it makes sense to offer them discounted. I ordered to avoid a price increase. I had a $10.00 credit on one of my cards so with Prime and without tax (lovely living in Illinois for that)my total was $41.15. I ordered both Prime and Grimlock. I know the chrome will wear for sure. These just might stay in the box until I'm really really bored next winter. I cannot pass up a good deal when there is one. I do wonder though why the First Edition AOE Prime is still $59.99

do a quick search for a photo of the first edition.. then put it side by side with the photo in this story.. and bam.. you'll immediately see the differences.

Thanks! I am actually kind of torn as to which one I like better. For the main body sculpt, its obvious that the first edition is superior, just look at his shoulders. But that backpack is HUGE and its a bit better in the leader version. I am actually not that big a fan of either of these. It doesnt seem like they are trying to outdo themselves this time around (unlike with ROTF)

I managed to order Optimus.

I did get both Grimlock and Prime...like 10 min ago or so. Grimlock went fast.

Betcha the Leader Amazon prices were a fawk-up and all the orders will be cancelled. Still a bit less cruel than the 50$ MP-10 mishap a good while back.

BTW, for the newcomers Voyager Grimlock is WAY superior than the leader. All the proportions are just right. So the dino dont look like Longcat and the robot is actually intimidating.
Also, get the Voyager Optimus Prime. It's the G1 truck that change into Movie Prime!

Now guys, please just stop complaining about the simple toys. It's becoming redundant. So far, the deluxes look promising and THE VOYAGERS ARE THE TOYS TO GET FOR US ADULTS.

Scourge? There's no Scourge in this line.

That Optimus Prime either was rushed being transformed, or the photographers just don't know how to transform something into vehicle mode. Prime's step by the door is not snapped into place.

The second Optimus is noticeably shorter. He would have looked much better if he was the same height as the first edition.

I meant Scorn my bad. Scorn is 19 steps and thus the most steps seen so far

The shipping and customs advance payment for canada is ruining the good deal. I hope ebay.ca lists them soon at a comparable price

Now the prices for each are back up to $26.99. This is still a good price for a Leader Class...even if these have more chrome than retail release. My first edition AOE Prime had some of the worst chrome apps I have ever seen and started coming off within 3 days of getting him.I bought from Amazon and returned to Hasbro. Hasbro gave me the full refund...probably more of a hassle, but did not have the packaging to send the item back to Amazon and/or was sure it would be accepted.

So its confirmed that the retail release do not have the chrome apps? I thought only the voyagers didn't have the chrome.

Now that you can compare, what do you think? They are both fine in robot mode for me and I like how they are totally different transformations but I dont find that either of them nail the beast mode (which should be the main draw for a movie dinobot). The voyager Grimlock has this weird hump in it's back and no neck while the Leader Grimlock has too long a neck (to store the legs since they no longer make up the tail). And they are both as complex. I preffer the dinosaur head of the Voyager while I preffer the tail of the Leader. So I dont know which one I would own myself. How about you?

Anyone notice it says available on may 1st 2022? So i should expect to see them shipped in 8 years?

Yeah, definitely possible. I'm also half-expecting to receive Voyagers instead of Leaders.

There's been no indication that Amazon is getting exclusive chromed versions.

Not sure if anyone else saw this, but on the Amazon mobile site for the two leaders, it says the release date is May 1, 2022. Maybe the $26 is how much they'll be worth then

The actual street date is May 17th, but with more and more stores releasing the figures early, take a chance and see if you can find them! Seibertron member Primeultimus has pointed us in the direction of a US based list of eBay auctions from seller Kokomo Toys, consisting of Dino Sparkers. We don't know whether or not this seller received their stock directly from Hasbro, or if they bought these at a local store, but it's official folks, the street date is being broken all over the place it seems. First in Canada, then Wal*Marts in the US, K-Mart (as seen here), and now sellers on eBay.

These are the first video reviews for both figures and they give you a pretty good, but slightly rough idea of what to expect with both figures. Both Grimlock and Optimus, along with the rest of wave 1 (and possibly wave 2), will see release at retail on May 17th. However, some stores have already broken the street date, such as K-Mart, which we reported on here. So keep an eye out, might see them sooner!

Nice find. Don't forget that old toys have to go on clearance before new ones can go on the shelves -- yesterday I found Beast Hunters Abominus at my local Target store (Mundelein, IL) for 50% off, and several of the remaining Beast Hunters and Construct-Bots toys were similarly discounted.

Found the Deluxe at the Prattville, AL K-mart:





EDIT: K-Mart would NOT let me purchase them because the system won't ring up items before release and these have a release date of May 17th.

May check out Kmart at lunch. Not expecting jack crap, but you never know. There are only two around here now (there were 4 that closed since the last movie, RIP), one of them is garbage but the other is pretty nice, so who knows!

Sure nice to see that someone did any kind of review on these guys. Out of the box neither look very impressive in my opinion. I'm not going to cancel my preorder with Amazon, but after that look I think the figures will just stay in their respective boxes. The box art is great. >:oP
