Kidding aside, I put my money on Silverbolt- because he's being voiced by an old guy, (James Avery).
So in a way I'm not kidding at all- because we all know how Silverbolt is an old man robot with spectacles and hair. Maybe he'll rip himself apart so Optimus can wear him as a dress, since there's precedent for that and all.
If he's an entirely new character, great waste of space, since there are plenty of real characters left to jam into this movie.

For the cast and crew. It's a point of reference to allow the actors to interact with the not yet rendered models for the scene.
In the first movie, they had to interact with things like a neon ping pong ball on the end of a stick. Some movies still use this method. At least these movies actually give the actor something to work with.
Still, that's gotta be a seriously difficult task. It's hard enough acting in front of the camera, but having an imaginary friend again after a decade of growing up? And doing it in front of a crowd and cameras? Yeah. Not a pleasant task, methinks.

suggest this might be Alphatrion.
Infact i`m surprised that only gantzrunner has suggest it so far.
why?
--> old bot.
--> Has some form of hair.
i can`t immediately think of anything else that qualifies off hand.
unless bay has done something different with another character again.

He could very well be Wheeljack, though I'm not found of that idea. The fiber optic hair could light up like his G1 conterpart's "ears."
Whoever he is, I'm waiting to see the movie to say if I like him or not.
EDIT: He doesn't look that tall, around BB's size, though it may just be odd perspective.

Yeah, that and the monocle are...uhhh...not good.

THANK YOU, PRIMUS! Somebody else thinks it too! I have no problem with "hair" on machines, as long as it's treated like fiber optic-y stuff. Yeah, maybe it's odd, but no more out of place than aliensd with cockpits or machines with full faces anyway.
Although, if it is Fiber-optic, then it would give Wheeljack his light-up ears thing. I could give that too Bay.

Or it could be silverbolt, since he could've be I dunno like jetfire's partner back in the day as seekers lol...and he would have silver hair! oh WOW!
Jetfire aged bad because he was left on Earth, without energon. If this bot is Alpha Tryon and he was in Cybertron, maybe he don`t look so bad.
Posted by wolverinetodd on July 18th, 2010 @ 8:00pm CDT
However, I think I'm leaning in the direction of it being Alpha Trion.

The reason I'm pissed off about it is because you know some one is gonna complain about it, and say the movie is shitty just because a robot has hair! I even read one comment over the internet that said they hated ROTF JUST BECAUSE Jetfire had a "beard." Life is stupid.

*Perceptor
That's all I got. Kinda creepy lookin' to me, but I do love making guesses. Anyone want to throw in a Decepticon? Because I have no Decepticons on my mind right now.

Ooh, I haven't thought of that! Alpha Trion is an old toot that everyone loves (and if you don't love him, then why the hell are you on this site anyway?). Who knows? Could might as well be part of the Movie-verse Seekers.

In ROTF we got more robots, more robot screen time, little to no shaky cam, more robot personality, more of a plot that glasses and Ebay, kick-ass Optimus, coward Starscream, The Matrix of Leadership, and more G1 like. I'm pretty sure we asked for all of that.

Then again, this is Bayverse, not G1. It's a reboot, with a few nice homages, but it is not the same continuity, not the same designs. Since when does he owe you anything?
He doesn't, you know, but I just thought I'd ask for clarity.
I think people seem to forget that this isn't G1, and that's why so many things are different and new from what we've seen before.
I think people were mindscrewed when he went with a G1 vibe for the second film, and that's why it wasn't embraced by fans and critics, yet it found a large international audience and a large box office take.
I think people should be careful what they wish for. Ya'll want G1 so badly? You might just get it, and it's going to suck, really really badly in the finished product. We'll just get reissues of Classics/Universe/Generations molds (and why wouldn't Hasbro? It's a money saver!), we'll get really stupid stories with really stupid villain plots, etc.
Is the Bayverse perfect? Nope. I'm one of the first to tell you that.
Is it better than it could've been? Absolutely. I can't even believe the miracles that've been pulled off at this point.
And I will laugh, when in another 10 years people will look back on all of this fondly, and I think fans will come to embrace this old coot of a bot. We haven't seen him animated yet, he might just surprise you. What if we ended up with a Scrooge McDuck, with a heart of gold? Think about that for a second. I know plenty of people who would fall in love with the idea of that.
I think too many of you are too close to this. You need to take a step back, look at it through a few other sets of eyes, then come back and see the whole picture. There's a lot more to see here than you're willing to admit.
I was addicted to Animated. I was too close to it, got sucked in, and when it failed, I got my rage out and posted like a jerk (more than usual, I should clarify), and I decried Hasbro, etc. Well, we turned out to be lucky. TakaraTomy is picking up the ball that Hasbro dropped and we're still getting the missing pieces for our collection. The show's currently being aired in Japan, which means we might get a full series DVD set in the end, and because of all of that, I'm finally becoming content. I realize that Animated wasn't going to last forever, but we're all better for it having existed, period.
And you should realize that the same goes for Bayverse. If these movies hadn't worked out, we'd never see another big screen adventure for our robotic heroes, and we'd still be geeks and nothing but. Now? Geek is chic, the audiences have embraced our heroes and now get why we love these guys. The money made off of these helps to ensure we have TFs for the future.
We should be grateful and look at this with positive, not rose colored glasses. Because we really do need to be grateful. What if they had been unwatched DTV movies with no budget and no care? Yeah, there's something to mull over.
We got danged lucky. And we should recognize that.

Wow, No need to be nasty guys. It's only my opinion. I actually liked RoTF, but I wished it had more story and developed the backround characters more. my comment doesn't G1 either considering I was only born in 1986 and even now never even got into it. But as I said, it was my opinion. I guess I should have posted "since when does he do what I wish he would". Sorry, I really only said it as an offhand comment. That could fit in with the time travel theories nicely. He transforms into a DeLorean and when he hits 88 miles an hour, we see some serious sh!t.

Brother, that is a fantastic and well argued post. I have to salute you for that. I've tried to put out something like that, but I'm not that good at arguing a point....which is probably why I've never won an argument with my wife. Well said, brother! Thanks for putting it so eloquently.

An obvious Albert Einstein pastiche complete with faux "male pattern baldness," gray hairs, classic Einstein mustache and spectacles is stupid. Plain stupid.
If that is a real face who green lights nonsense like this? Hasbro?
