I hear ya. It's been a looooong time coming for this release and it's been SO long, that this mold may have lost some steam for some collectors. Or have done the exact opposite and made you frothing at the mouth in anticipation.
For me it's more of a 'sigh....FINALLY' kinda of reaction more than it is being pumped about it.
I have to absolutely buy him though and i'll prolly get more excited the closer to release time.
He does look awesome though and he is my favourite seeker. Who am i kidding.......i'm stoked.

It's only 12 bucks...treat yourself
After Hasbro gave in to the fans requests, Im gonna buy 2 of em just to support the NEW Hasbro staff bringing us all this great G1 stuff. One for display, one to stay in the card. And I got the Henkei. Im so glad they told whoever made that Botcon 2007 exclusive promise that it was poor business tatics.

...Now can we PLEASE retire this mold? As nice an update as it was to the original G1 likeness, it looks so pitiful next to Cyclonus, classics Mirage, and my boy, Terradive. We get a new mold of Michael Bay Bumblebee every 3 weeks, how about seeing a newer rendition of G1 Starscream next year? I'll gladly buy the six Seekers over again if we can have a version with some better articulation and more Generations-y complexity.

Anybody?
…
…
Seeing as all three of my Con seekers suffer from wobbly leg syndrome I'll be picking him up. Anybody else notice that he's the same dark blue like Dirge?

Youre kidding right ??? Good one, for a second you almost had me believing you. LOL
I got the Henkei and Ill be buying 2 of these. I fully support bringing all the G1 characters to mass retail to help keep G1 alive for another 25 years. We dont want our grandkids thinking Michael Bay invented Transformers do we ???

Nope, can't retire it just yet. There's a KO Sunstorm floating around out there and Hasbro has to shoot it down and release an official one. That and bring Acid Storm back for a second run since I missed picking him up the first time around.

Get one, I highly reccomend the figure. Great quality. See my review on the KO and 3rd part forums. And forget the camoflauge Acid Storm. These guys are gonna drop a set of the Rainmakers in G1 colors using the same mold.

So my question is....... do you feel cheated if you bought the botcon version? Or no? Like buying the 07 movie Arcee and having the 09 movie version come out completely different? or buying the yellow rampage only to have the red version come out months later? Dirty work Hasbro if you ask me. but thats my opinion?
Posted by Gandalf on January 21st, 2011 @ 12:09am CST
When was the last time we got all six in one style (at retail)? Is this the first time since G1?

I won't be getting this as I already have the Henkei exclusive but despite my gripe about the paint job if I didn't already own this guy then I would snap him up.
I still want to see them use this mold for Sunstorm.
I wouldn't mind a Takara Tomy Acid Storm either because the camo design on the Hasbro one sucks.
Don't care about the third rainmaker as he doesn't even have a name.
Come on guys just a couple more seekers.
Oh and reissues of Starscream and Ramjet for everyone who doesn't have them yet please.....

Summary of releases:
Henkei: closest to the animation model, minus the chrome guns, widespread QC issues involving accessory tolerance, Original Price @ $75-85
BotCon: closest to popular fiction of Thundercracker, has correctly colored guns, most detail on any of them, strangely clouded cockpit, Original Price @ $55 (cost of set, divided by 5, set was available to everyone, even if you could not make the convention)
Generations: closest to G1 toy version (except for the stripes, which are close but still slightly different), fewest paint aps, most affordable, @ $12 retail
I think the Generations one fits with the original Classics Skywarp and even Starscream nicely. They're all really richly colored and have enough different about them to be interesting.
A mix of Henkei, BotCon, and Classics draws up the best offering of the 6 seekers, but even then you have options in regards to show, comic, or toy accurate decos.

I think the G1 launchers fit in the Classics toys too.

Obviously I prefer them upside-down in bot mode as I find it to be the "more" toon accurate way (even though they're seen both ways, the more consistent way seemed to be upside-down), but what drives me nuts is that they do them differently between figs. I could contently live with it if they did them all the "wrong" way, but I don't dig the mix... But I suppose you could say they're just being toon accurate by being inconsistent.

I would...then I'd just buy another one for the 800 or whatever they're going for everywhere else these days!
