The big highlights are the different paint apps. I have also put pictures from the SDCC version, G1 version and Hasbro Combiner Wars version for comparisons. It seems to be as faithful to G1 as possible and there is no chrome.
The visor is retractable and as previously hinted, all Constructicons have individual weapons. Also, while the images are small, you can tell that both Long Haul and Scrapper have elbows. All of these features are not present on the SDCC Devastator.

This makes the Hasbro molds look like unfinished prototypes.

And the Retractable Visor is an excellent touch.
Of course, being Takara and a big fella, it wouldn't surprise me if the TT Devastator is almost twice as much in price as the Hasbro version.

Not sure what's happening, I guess it really is just price. TT can/ will cover the extra material/ parts cost for joints and Hasbro can't or won't. In Scrapper's case it could be U.S safety laws for the Devy mode also...not sure how that would affect Long Haul though.
EDIT: I have not the power to pull of such a request but, can we all stop arguing now? Many of us knew elbows on Scrapper were possible but kept getting shot down for no real reason. Not sure why everyone has to keep antagonizing each other, especially when we are all just talking common sense in a discussion forum.

Both hasbro versions, I totally agree. While I might end up with the hasbro version due to budget, I wont help but feel I am not getting the actual toy I want knowing this version is out there. I am curious though, with the Hasbro version being 159.99$ US, what would be the max you would pay for this Takara version? Like more than what price would it have to be for you to stick with the Hasbro version?
Aceoftherebellion wrote:-EDIT- Better pictures, take it back, if these actually do have the elbows, they're a must buy
Elbows confirmed.

We still don't know how they're made and what their longevity might be.
Given it's TT though I'm willing to bet they won't be flimsy.

Bonecrusher has green treads, but purple interior to the treads, making a highly accurate compormise G1 cartoon color scheme.

Hint: not Hasbro.
In all seriousness though, if one wants an official Devastator with all the goodies, this is the way to go. Might as well pack him in a Masterpiece box, it's that good!

Isn't Takara actually marketing Devy in the Masterpiece line?

Negative. He will be released as part of the Unite Warriors line, which is the line Superion, Menasor, and Defensor are being labeled as.

Yup, TT's Dragstrip looks horrible, but TT's Devastaor is awesome! all the elbows, all the weapons, visors, eyes, stuff... it's amazing

I think it depends on how strong the pin joint is and how Devastator is posed. If the weight is coming straight down it should be fine as it looks like the arms lock up to some extent.

Most of those outside of Japan will be collectors anyway, so I doubt they'll be moving the elbows much so they should be fine.
But if someone buys them for kids, could be a different story.

Wolfman Jake wrote:Has anyone else taken note that Scrapper's new forearms look like they're hand-painted? I'm thinking either the final retools are still in the prototype phase, or maybe they're made of a different material, possibly something sturdier to augment the structural integrity of Devastator's right heel in gestalt mode, if it is true that the reason for the lack of elbow articulation in the Hasbro version was for greater stability of that joint.
It could also be that they are new, added in after seeing how many people would purchase their Devastator should include a few additional features; increase the budget a little, make a massive profit off of it, seems reasonable, eh?

No no no no........this Titan class is just for kids............ain't it? Scaled for lazy parents to buy for their dingdong toddlers?
Isn't the manly toys the ones made by the 3rd party? For those whose sarcasm meter's are offline, please read between the lines.
Now we'll be getting a demand that TT SRP their baby to the SRP of the Hasbro version.................

We need a time accelerator to look at how age is going to wear on Scrapper's elbows. I'm genuinely curious. I hope they've got a solid lock on them, like a clip or something, to help.
Posted by Evil Eye on June 20th, 2015 @ 5:23am CDT
I still like the look of Hercules better, but knowing they have individual guns, ELBOWS and much better paint jobs makes me actually consider this. Scrapper actually looks good now.
Bravo Takara. Bravo.
Also, shame on Hasbro and everyone defending them.

I have no shame in supporting Hasbros Devastator. I plan to only display him in combined mode so elbows and guns are pointless to me. So I should feel shame over that? I think not.
So I'm going to ask this question to you (and anyone else who feels like answering) ... when you purchase Takara Tomy's Devastator, how will you be displaying him?

Most of the time in Gestalt mode. Same thing I did with Encore 20A.....unless I do a little toy soldier reenactment pew pew role play ( I'm basically an overgrown kid post duty in the real world )

I've said this a few times but will do so again.
I mainly display my combiners in their individual bot modes, so that's why joints are so important to me. I'm just afraid this now means that Hasbro's version won't sell very well, and screw us all in the long run.

Well, Burn, I know many do only display their gestalts combined, and maybe my opinion won't count here since I am not getting this Devastator, but I for one regularly alternate mine between modes. My gestalts have been in individual robot modes for a few weeks to a month now. Before that, they were in their combined modes. And I've been itching to put them in vehicle mode, so that will probably happen soon.
Personally, aside from mint-in-box collectors, I just don't get people who buy 'em, stick 'em in one mode, and leave 'em like that forever. They're Transformers. They need to be transformed! Otherwise, I'd just buy collectable statuettes of the characters and stick those on my shelf.

However I want to. And to be honest, I think the individual robots look nicer than the combined form, so mine will probably be separated a fair amount of time. I know the elbows are a small thing, but I always feel better about buying a toy, particularly an expensive one, that I actually like rather than one that I'm told is "good enough" or that I should like because blah blah children.
Plus, have we already eliminated the possibility that in addition to the elbow TT hasn't added a tab or some other kind of locking element into the clearly new forearm part? They could have but for that we have to wait and see.

ah, now this I can answer strictly from a personal standpoint.
I have too bloody many, not enough room and not enough spare time.

I'm actually going to display the team as individual bots. My MP collection is severely lacking in Decepticons, and these guys will be great for buffing up the numbers.

Burn wrote:I have too bloody many, not enough room and not enough spare time.
Well, good sir, it isn't as if I can transform all of mine in one afternoon! No! If I get the itch to do so, I usually have to take it one shelf at a time. And if I decided to do everything all at the same time, I'd probably want to be taking at least a week. Maybe a week and a half.
Of course, that addresses the time issue, and not so much the space issue... And gestalts, especially, do take up more space in their separated forms then they do when they are combined. So I suppose I could grant that. I have one specific shelf for my Decepticon gestalts, and it is definitely more roomy when they are combined. It took some effort in rearranging things, but I think I have some room now for the Autobot combiners I will also soon have, thanks to Unite Warriors. Really, the only thing I don't have room for on the shelf a figure usually lives on is Metroplex's city mode. A shame, as it is an awesome looking mode... but he ends up spending most of his time as either a robot or in his carrier mode. Still, once in a great while I do say, "The hell with it!" and let him just take up some floor space for a few days to a week. (Good thing I have an understanding girlfriend!)
But if you have less space available, and you figures are trapped eternally in one mode... Well, I shall weep for them. (Joking... It is your collection, you can do what you want with 'em... Even if I still don't get owning Transformers and not actually transforming them! )

If I do get Takara Devastator I'll do what I do with all my combiners and alternate between having them in robot, vehicle and combined mode. I don't keep my TFs permanently displayed in one mode. Variety is the spice of life after all.

That's how I do it as well. But I would prefer getting the takara version regardless because part of me would truly feel that I am getting a subpar product if I stick with Hasbro. It isnt just paint apps this time.
