I'm glad I've waited patiently for Takara's versions of Sideswipe and Jazz. The extra paint apps on Jazz are most welcome, but Sideswipe stomps all over his Hasbro iteration so hard it isn't even funny. That Optimus Prime looks fantastic as well. I hope Takara dares to go a bit further making their own molds and gives us a nice Voyager sized Grimlock down the line (and no, the Hyperchage version won't do).

Already preordered that Prime a while ago, and I'm really glad I did! Robot mode is out of scale, but it looks like the truck mode works great with the Warriors. I see a lot to like here.

Also might snag Sideswipe. I've warmed up to him more on the show and I need someone for my Strongarm to boss around. I'll grab the one with nice paint, as a colorblind dude who especially has trouble with reds, I'd rather not paint one myself.

Not a fan of Jazz, though. He seems a bit too blocky for my taste, and the extra paint unfortunately doesn't help quite enough.

Whoa. Where the fuck did this Optimus come from, and why don't we have it in the states?! =P~

Meanwhile, I think it's safe to say that I'll be getting Takara's Jazz. However, I don't notice any major differences between our Sideswipe and their Sideswipe, just some minor detailing on the crotch and wheels and a different shade of red, so I might just grab the Hasbro version. I need time to consider, first. I mean, you'd think I save money by getting the Hasbro version, but that fucking Optimus just fucking comes out of fucking nowhere and it's like....fuck!

Wait a sec, so that Optimus is a big toy, has electronics, great articulation, and not a simplified transformation... could this be the first actual leader class toy to incorporate all this since Leader Sentinel Prime?!

Also, while I am still not sure about the figure itself, the paint apps on Takara's Jazz put Hasbro to shame. I mean, we all thought it looked naked, but this is just sad:

Hell yeah he's articulated. At least as much as a regular leader, check this awesome pic of him going from one mode to the next:

I know it's common to say how much takara is better but man, using 3 of the same toy (maybe 4) to show his transformation in a display panel is pretty great.

DAMMIT!!!!!!! Jazz is sold out on amiami, after what, not even 5 hours?! They still have optimus though but I dont want to just have him shipped alone.

Someone asked if there was an extension for the axe, well it seems from the picture below, that he is holding it like a hatchet where you plug the top of the axe on top of his hand while the long hilt (which may double as a sword) is plugged at the bottom.

Does anyone know what the "200" on RID Prime's box refers to; it's not 200 voice clips/sfx, is it? He is so much better than any 1 or 3 step version we've gotten here, so far. His trailer mode is a cool mix of StarConvoy & Action Master Optimus Armored Convoy, down to being able to seat 2 Deluxes in his trailer! I wonder why Hasbro hasn't made a better Voyager or Leader version of OP yet. :-?

I think only 1 deluxe car can fit in his trailer. The two you see are in their robot mode sitting on it. Though if 2 could fit, that would be pretty awesome. Its so weird Hasbro isnt going this route, this is still very much a kid's toy after all, especially with the interaction with others and electronics and ... oh right, Hasbro doesnt do those on leader class toys anymore...

Its kinda sad that the big RID hasbro optimi are different scales of the same 1 step figure.

The things that stick out to me are the bottom of the feet are painted red, which actually looks worse than the Hasbro one since the black sticks out better, and that little hood paint. Now mind you the paints actually match, but for me that is not a big issue. Overall, I'm still very happy with the hasbro version. Now that Optimus though, that is a nice figure.

Hasbro's sideswipe had a great deco from the start and the only complaints I heard were of the actual mold. Does yours hold together well? The main reason to getting a takara version would be more to get a tighter and better fitting version of the mold if that aspect of the figure was reworked. The deco is almost secondary priority if that part of the figure is fixed.

I was about to order this TAV 21 Optimus but I had second thoughts. I understand that the legs are hollow for the trailer segment but I dont like how they are open. I would have much preferred there to be a flap which closes the legs, like with Ultra Magnus or at least for the hollowness to be on the back like. As it is, the figure only looks great (and by that I mean freaken phenominal) from the front and thats too bad. Am I the only one to feel that way?

I did, I got him at around the same time I got Drift. I didnt wait till I got home, I did it while at work. But he was already sold out. He is on my watch list now. I might be tempting fate, but I feel like waiting for this Optimus. At least waiting till august to buy him so that he could be shipped with arcee (IF I do buy arcee, I still hope we get a hasbro release in canada). Arrgh, I just dont want to regret anything. I dont want to be dissatisfied and yet I dont want to miss out and I also dont want to pay shipping for every single figure every single time.

I have not actually purchased the figure yet. I'll be getting him in the fall though. gotta manage my budget.
But after watching many reviews, I do not think it will hold up all that well. I have yet to hear someone way their Sideswipe actually holds without modification. And he does have a good deco in my opinion.
to tell the truth here, I have only ever bought 1 takara figure, and that was 1-step Stinger since He was the same price on amazon as the hasbro one when I bought him. The paint really does not matter to me, i'm not particular about it. The paint job has never been a make-or-break deal to me.

AmiAmi doesn't decide what the toys are called. TakaraTomy does, and they call it "TAV21 Optimus Prime".

You did see the screen cap I posted ne? Tell that to the company and their IT designer who encoded it. As you have noticed, I was speaking about the availability of the toy in amiami not what he is called in the show. >:oP

You sure? Because last night when I posted, Sideswipe and Optimus were still available while Jazz was sold out and 6 hours later it's still the very same status on all 3. Did the stock do a complete 360 in less than 6 hours?

Sold out again.If you base it on the time(12:28) stamp I posted the availability, it was like a total of 5 hours they were available. Heck, despite my not liking a visorless Jazz, I also preordered one. :oops:
