Which, due to the nature of the figure and it's transformation, would require a lot of heavy retooling to the point they might as well just make a new mold.
Not to mention that Slugslinger's silhouette requires his wings forming a sort of cape, while Triggerhappy's become his shoulders and arms.

Not exactly. You have to remember that Triggerhappy's windshield chest is only made up of a small PART of the windshield, and most of the nosecone folds up on the back. It's an easy retool, and they made it that way so that they could retool it also into Misfire.

Heck, Triggerhappy's vehicle mode actually looks more like Slugslinger's than the g1 Triggerhappy toy's vehicle mode when you look at how the legs fold up.

I feel it resembles Misfire's a lot more than Slugslinger's, who I think it is intended for.

In any case I do feel it is possible - which I did actually mention a while back - I just don't feel it's immediately obvious and would completely change the figure. Again, the wings go in a completely different place in robot mode.

Hasbro is known for using existing figures to make other characters with slightly different appearances. In fact, having the wings on the backs of the arms would make him look fairly accurate from the front.

Um, Wave 3 is Sixshot (expected in December 2016), and wave 4 is Black Shadow (likely in Feb/March 2017). I don't think Overlord has been officially announced yet, so I have no idea why you would be sure it will be out in Dec 2016/Jan 2017. Was your comment off by a year? Seems like wave 5 (likely May/June 2017) would be the earliest slot he would fit into.

That list was rumor-based, so it's not confirmed official info. Besides Hasbro is known to change its mind on the fly.

If you look at the list so far the figures revealed so far fit into wave 5 (Excluding Brawn) Perhaps there is some validity to the list? The next reveals will tell.

There were no official name placards at preview night for me to use as an absolute reference, but I have been treating this as evidence that he is officially Blackshadow again. Has there been some official confirmation that he is still Sky Shadow? Because that's why I keep correcting news crew who refer to him as such in official posts.

Essentially just shared engineering and a skeleton. Not exactly a retool.

Highbrow is a FOC-style reshell of Scourge, which falls under the banner of "retool". Someone posted a thorough pictorial comparison earlier in the thread which helps lead to this conclusion.

Scourge and Highbrow are reshells. They share much more than toys like Chromedome and Blurr/Brainstorm, who share knees, thighs, Titan Master bodies, and guns.

Does anyone think it's possible that the next line might be targetmasters? Maybe they would release small packs with targetmasters just like the TR titan master packs for the targetmaster characters in Titans Return like Blurr, Triggerhappy, Misfire, and others? That seems like a likely option to me, and it would also give them to connect all three lines together by giving characters like CW Cyclonus his Nightstick targetmaster also. Then we could also have other targetmaster characters like the three main autobots as deluxes also to go with the TR Headmasters.

Image

This could also give them a chance to use molds like TR Triggerhappy, and share engineering to make the third Decepticon targetmaster Slugslinger.

The picture for tank mode is battle car mode while battle station mode is showing tank mode. That means whatever his real battle station mode is it hasn't been shown yet and he has six alt modes for seven total modes.

Between two Walmarts I've only seen three PMOPs and two Blasters since release. Furthermore I've never seen both at the same time and they're always selling out leaving weeks of no Leaders (aside from CW Skywarp) on the shelves. I still haven't seen wave 2 Voyagers or Leaders either. Plus I've mentioned before that my area completely skipped Titan Masters wave 2, instead jumping to revision wave 2 (Apeface, Brawn, Loudmouth, and Nightbeat) so no Clobber or Skytread for me.

We're going by the assumption that Hasbro has not yet been able to claim "Black Shadow" as a trademark in the Toys & Games category. A quick search reveals that "Black Shadow" has already been applied to:

- a motorcycle series
- a wrestler
- a character from Wild Cards
- a vigilante or death squad group in El Salvador, as Sombre Negra
- shockingly, a model of shotgun.

At the same time, jumping on the Decepticon targetmaster conversation, I don't want them to be retools. I want new molds. Yes we could probably get all 3 targetmasters from a single mold, but is that really what we want? I'd prefer they use new molds, and it does seem they are getting back to pre-CW levels with a smaller number of same molds.

No, Hasbro stated that Titan Masters are named as such because they fill all three "-master" roles

Headmasters- Form the head of a larger robot.
Image

Powermasters- Form the engine to the mini vehicles.
Image

Targetmaster- Form weapons with the mini vehicles.
Image

And with so many new figures that would be better suited to being Targetmasters or Powermasters in Titans Return it seems highly unlikely that they'll be revisiting a "-master" line for part three. Same can be said for Pretenders, too.

To clarify, the character was originally named "Black Shadow" when he debuted in the Transformers: Victory cartoon and toyline in Japan back in 1989. Since then he has gone on to appear in Western fiction maintain his original "Black Shadow" Japanese name. However, as Hasbro has evidently been unable to Trademark the name "Black Shadow" for their toys of the guy, the name "Sky Shadow" is what Hasbro uses for their Black Shadow toys instead of his actual name. So while all of his Hasbro-released toys go by the name "Sky Shadow", the character's name remains as "Black Shadow" in the fiction.

Meanwhile, Takara seems to have no trouble using the "Black Shadow" name for their toys of the guy, so the "Sky Shadow" replacement name is only for Hasbro's Black Shadow toys.

Sky Shadow remains one of the most abused of Transformers names it's the sort of name to be randomly slapped on anything, when I hear it though I usually think of the Beast Wars Fuzor Character.

Depends. Blurr and Chromedome share guns and thighs, but it's not a retool. And I hope we get at least 2 different molds for the con targetmasters. I'd be a bit disappointed if they all shared the same skeleton

Seems to me that Sluggy should've been the second one that Misfire were to be retooled into, and then Triggerhappy should've been the new mold. He looks good, but the g1 Triggerhappy was way less similar to Misfire than Slugger. >:oP

I'm not sure how much any of those would affect an attempt at a Toys and Games registration, but it certainly sheds some light on the situation. I guess we'll see what ends up happening.

Names can change for reasons other than trademark unavailability:

- Hasbro is unwilling to use "Slag", "Spastic", "Slapper" or any other name with a negative association tied to it in any country it's active in (funnily enough, most problems seem to stem from the UK). "Spastic" especially caused a stir, so much that the PCC release was hastily renamed to "Over-Run", despite that release never being planned for the UK.
- Platinum Edition Liokaiser has a few name changes from the original Japanese: "Killbison", "Hellbat" and "Deathsaurus" were renamed to "Ironbison", "Fellbat" and "Dezarus". In the same vein, Overboard was renamed from "Overkill". So touchy... It's no recent development, Mega Man Zero 3 had a boss named "Hellbat Schilt", he got renamed "Devilbat Schilt" (uhm...sure, that's a lot better) for the US.

That said, the shotgun and maybe the vigilante group may have Hasbro think twice. They do Google names you know (but with safe search on, ask Nexus Prime)?

I am familiar with all those examples, but had they been reluctant to use the name for any of the possible reasons listed, they probably wouldn't have named the relevant picture files "Blackshadow" or referred to him as such in their presentation. They were very careful to only refer to Breastforce members by their new names when they were talking them up at SDCC, attempted to use the new names for the Technobots as well, although they slipped up a few times and corrected themselves. So to see Blackshadow still seeing some use, which as far as I'm aware is more than he got when they made Generations Skyshadow, makes me think that it's far from off the table. When an official listing for him goes up with his name, or a picture of his box surfaces, we'll know for sure.

I find Targetmasters highly unlikely. Not just because of the reasons mentioned above, but because they've had their main players taken away - Hot Rod, Blurr and Scourge. Not to mention Triggerhappy, the likely retools of Slugslinger and Misfire to come from him, and the rumoured Kup. That kinda leaves you with a small number of obscure bots (... well, you've got Spinister and Needlenose I guess) to form a Targetmaster line around. I'd love it, but very likely not happening - they're bundling all the -master dudes into TR. Same reason Powermasters aren't happening; once you take away Optimus and Getaway, just who are you left with?

Don't forget Overlord ;)

The Autobot Targetmasters (Pointblank, Sureshot and Crosshairs) are untouched for the moment, but I doubt it'll last. If anything, Sureshot has redeco potential as Joyride.

Depends what you consider "real". Hasbro only ever used Sky Shadow as a name for his toy released by them so we will see if that ends up being the name of this toy too. It's the name of the Hasbro listing so far: http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/ ... dow/36300/

And since the news was reporting on the toy, that's the name I felt was appropriate to use. Like that fans know what name to look for when this toy comes out.

I think you are asking if the cab can be separated from the rest, right? If not, I apologize for misunderstanding. If so, the removal of a single screw from the bottom should work to allow the cab to be separated from the trailer. The screw appears to secure the trailer via a large circular capture near the back of the tractor in this picture.

It shouldn't destroy the figure unless the screw becomes stripped or something.

Of course, it's a little bit pointless as there's not much the trailer can do on it's own - unless you just want a small Optimus cab.

The picture for tank mode is battle car mode while battle station mode is showing tank mode. That means whatever his real battle station mode is it hasn't been shown yet and he has six alt modes for seven total modes.

Weird. Leader Prime and Blaster are both shelf warming in northern Indiana areas.

Williamjames88 will call you out for calling them "shelfwarmers"as

"it is defined as is the colloquial term for a toy or product that either fails to sell well or is over-produced, leaving residual quantities on store shelves for months or even years after its original release, generally far in excess of other toys from the same waves."

At least when I call stuff "shelfwarmers". But then again, if its been shelfwarming for four (4) "months", does that not fall to into the definition?

What does that make wj88 then?

Man I want that thing. Still amazes me that Hasbro actually made a whole new figure for an MP release rather than make a repaint the only change. I don't care if it didn't come with the trailer; that's an impressive amount of effort.

Didn't like this review.

If buying a possibly faulty figure that "fell off a truck" is the cost of being the first to review it, you're doing the figure and the viewers a disservice.

We still don't know what we're getting.

 My TRU would never have me as an employee, I think they hate me (and my awesome legal cost saving methods!).

Anyways, calling anything from TR shelfwarming is absurd. The line is way too young and its impossible to know if the stock you keep seeing week after week is the same stock or a restock.

Although I do find some retailers pricing to be puzzling. With such a "young" line, Wal-Mart cutting their prices for deluxes to $9.88 U.S. (slightly less than a legends class??) Perhaps this is a strategy to avoid product sitting on shelves? Though pretty much everywhere I go, I still see CW Leader Class at $45 (Mostly Skywarps, but now some Starscreams also, and still the occasional sightings of both Megatrons). I would have thought retailers would have cut cost on those a while ago to free up shelf space for new product.

And if the TRU employee tells me a TR stock has been there for like a month or two (it falls under the definition of "months"). So technically it is shelfwarming. One month, then it ain't. 2 months up it's months then it is shelfwarming...by the definition.

Now if you will demand TRU inventory records, from your's truly then I'd be happy to oblige but only if you also demand it too from other posters who use the term.

This is what happens when people argue how many angels can sit on a needle's head 8-}

I don't know if this has been mentioned, or reported yet, but target has dropped the price on Titans returns deluxe figures to 9.99

william-james88 wrote:Depends what you consider "real". Hasbro only ever used Sky Shadow as a name for his toy released by them so we will see if that ends up being the name of this toy too. It's the name of the Hasbro listing so far: http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/ ... dow/36300/

Okay, I forgot about that product listing. That's the missing piece of information that pushes the likelihood of this toy into being Sky Shadow rather than Blackshadow. I will not bring it up again unless it gets confirmed as Blackshadow and someone still uses Sky Shadow. ;)

I'm having quite a run of luck today. First, I tried to return a Brainstorm to a physical Walgreens. I only ordered 2 for free shipping, and planned on releasing one into the wild. However, the store was completely clueless on how to process a return from an online order. I then spent about 10 minutes on the phone with customer service to get the issue fixed. Long story short, they refunded me and told me to just keep the figure. Basically it wasn't worth it for them to have me ship it back to them. Not sure why they didn't try to have me return it at the store with clear instructions for the staff, but no complaints here.

Next, I was just messing around on BBTS and checking to see if anything else from TR wave 3 had sold out. I was hoping to see SixShot sold out to confirm that preordering it was the right choice, cuz I'm weird like that. It's not, but I did notice that Gnaw was no longer sold out. I thought that must be a mistake, so I tried to preorder it. It didn't take the first time, but it worked the second time. I'm not sure if BBTS got additional stock or if someone decided to cancel their order. But I think I snagged the last one, if there is one to be snagged. Of course it could just be a computer glitch, but I do see the preorder in my account.

So now I get to internally debate if I should keep or cancel my preorder for SixShot and Gnaw. BBTS lets you cancel up until they receive their stock.....
