As the hunt for Titans Return's Wave 4 figures continue, fellow board member TF-fan kev777 dropped by to let us know that as far as the Legends-class figures are concerned, there's already a revision wave! Originally containing Brawn, Roadburn (Chase) and Bumblebee; Entertainment Earth is now stocking a revision wave that replaces Bumblebee with Kickback and Gnaw for all your army-building purposes. Interestingly, as you can see below; each figure in this revision wave is evenly-packed - which was not the case before, as the original wave had 3 each of Roadburn and Brawn but 2 of Bumblebee.

Check out Entertainment Earth for the revision wave at $39.99 if you're interested and tell us if you find this in the wild!

Y'know, Roadburn is really starting to stand out for me purely for that plastic red colour. It just shines so brilliantly, has a really different feel to it. Kinda want him now...

Bummed we can't get a rolling wave change for troop builders. (like the alternate scourge head in Japan). Would love a painted yellow chest Kickback, alternate Gnaw head (or paint scheme), and a Cliffjumper head for ole Chase here.

Seriously. We need Cliffjumper bad. He's first wave toys. In the cartoon right from "more than meets the eye".

Breakaways plural? Wow, that means Hasbro knew what they were doing by shortpacking him. Hot Rod being there makes sense too, since he got the extra figure, but that makes sense since he is the hottest figure of the 4 in that set, at least in terms of the characters' popularity.

Was Trigerhappy and Twinferno ever online anywhere like TRU. Walmart, Amazon or HTS? I know Twinferno was on TFSource for 15.99. I thought you got these already.

Bumblebee21 wrote:bodrock i love your memes.

does anyone think godbomber is the wave 6 leader

I am sure he wont be. He only works with the optimus that comes in the exclusive set so the most logical way we would get god bomber would be in a similar set.

Still holding out for that Deathsaurus leader rumour! And the repaint potential of a Leader Dragon figure is YUUGE!

Incorrect, the first sighting of this toy was in the philippines.

but this isnt about that, its about the first sighting of this toy in Australia.

StJudeDad wrote:It's really sad when Wal-Mart has a better selection of all Transformers toys right now than TRU does.

Thats been the case all year for me. TRU has more stock but since they voerstock on stuff, there is a longer period of time between restocks and new figures sicne they want to get rid of the old stock. Walmart has low stock so I see it change far more often. They will only have one or two cases, but it will be of the latest stuff.

So was Hauler, and he has even less toys than Cliffjumper. At least Cliffjumper has a recent generations legends class toy. So you could use that one and this new Bee and have them both on your team looking different. Thats what I aim to do.

Cliffjumper should get his own mold. :D
Re: Titans Return Legends Wave 4 Revision (1880245)
Posted by gothsaurus on May 8th, 2017 @ 2:24pm CDT
yeah, I'm more on board with that (though the shape of that mold is more like him than Bee, actuall). He was a major character.

I wish they'd go nuts at some convention and give us a box set of minibots in different colors. Tap Out, Glyph, Bug Bite, Hubcap, Bumper, and a few new ones.

He really should since while Bee remolds make sense it also makes Cliff less of his own character and just a repaint of Bee as far as the toys are concerned.

That's probably what lead the "obligatory red Bumblebee redeco" to be turned into Chase. Cliffjumper may get his own mold in the next line, with Hubcap as his retool.
Re: Titans Return Legends Wave 4 Revision (1880251)
Posted by Kurona on May 8th, 2017 @ 2:33pm CDT
Also, I'm pretty happy that a more obscure character is getting a turn this time. Yeah it's as a new-head redeco, but that opposed to 0 previous toys after his original is pretty good. Cliffjumper's had a ton of updated toys; from the Deluxes in Classics and WFC to the Legends figures in Thrilling 30 and whatnot. I'm glad to let someone else have a turn.

Besides, it is just a head. One can very easily get a shapeways head on the cheap if this is your favourite Bumblebee/Cliffjumper mold and you're desperate for him.

I dont follow it much since my phone cant handle it, but does Cliffjumper have a 3D model in earth wars? Its a way we`ve been able to tell if some bots are getting new molds, as was the case with BB (and it seems to be the case with Ratchet).
Re: Titans Return Legends Wave 4 Revision (1880257)

Yeah, I guess part of the reason for the desperation is wanting a set of minibots from the same series and size class. They are so spaced apart (meaning the odd rare guys like Huffer, etc.) that they don't have a consistent look or height.

BUT I'd love to see a whole set of Throttlebot redux guys, too! Really, I'm loving the past year or so. Hoping Hasbro keeps it up to round out what they're doing with Scorponok, Horrorcons, etc.

Cliffjumper and Bumblebee have different models in Earth Wars, but the funny thing is that neither are directly based on existing toys in robot mode. Both do have elements from the Classics designs, but Cliffjumper's vehicle mode is more based on Bumblebee's Generations Legends toys.

yeah but Hasbro proved that their release is completely arbitrary. I had this discussion before but Windcharger being in Combiner Wars and Tailgate being in thrilling 30 doesnt mean they dont scale together. plus, Gnaw has been in the works since thrilling 30 and they are rereleasing Cosmos in Titans return so to me its all proof that we should instead treat Generations as a line instead of the sublines. And in that sense, then we already have a legends cliffjumper :)

To put images to my words, lets just look at this pic below:

Image

While we see BB and Optimus, its the same molds for T30 Cliffjumper and CW Huffer and Pipes so they end up scaling perfectly together.

Re: Titans Return Legends Wave 4 Revision (1880266)

Earth Wars isn't necessarily a great indicator of new toys. Rodimus, Scourge and Galvatron looked nothing like their Titans Return versions and in a stream the dev team even talked about how they were considering making Galvatron a tank. Recent characters like Kup, Hun-Gurr, BW Megatron and Optimus Primal have also had a look at their development where they're shown to almost solely have taken inspiration from the cartoons and a few of their toys in the past rather than anything upcoming. Sometimes we get some surprises like Soundwave right when the game released, but it certainly isn't a hard and fast rule and shouldn't be relied upon.

Then you could go for the Thrilling 30 or Classics or WFC Cliffjumper. To me the priority is getting out characters who have never got an update before; classic more well-known characters like the original 1984 Minibots are likely to get an update at any time just through the virtue of being more popular and well-known. I'm just happy to get Roadburn instead of something much more predictable.

Problem for me is that besides being impossible for me to get toys no longer on shelves anymore is that neither of the three fit into my collections.

Thrilling 30 while perfect scale has the wrong head and has a more alien alt mode also the head is tiny compared to most of the other legends figures I have.

Classics also has the wrong head but it's also out of scale with my TR Bee and other minibots.

WFC has the proper head but it's WFC aesthetics don't match with any of my figures and it's too tall for my collection.

While I do agree with your point about how characters who don't have updates should be the priority I also would love to have a perfect update of Cliff at some point since he is one of my faves.

That's fair; I know the pain of toys of characters technically existing but for one reason or another I want a new toy of them. An affordable Sunstorm, a more IDW-accurate Chromedome, a Nautica that actually looks like Nautica rather than one of the most pathetic mold re-uses I've ever seen... this hobby can be painful sometimes.

Oh I do have them, I'm just surprised Hot Rod is everywhere and so are multiple Breakaways per location, along with lots of Broadsides.

Those figures were at TFsource, but sold out quick. When I was thinking I would need to cancel my Artfire preorder, I had Brawn and Chase on pre-order as well and actually cancelled them. and then they came in stock and went very quickly and are no longer available.

And i am excited for Throttlebots. They're kinda dorky, but I want the whole case of 6.

US Titans return hunters can finally breathe a sigh of relief as our very own board member DecepticonFinishLine has found some of the heavily anticipated TR wave four deluxes (Meaning Perceptor, Kup, and Topspin in this case) at Target in Nebraska! These figures have finally hit mass retail, having only previously been seen individually at various Walgreens stores. FinishLine has taken some very nice photos to share, as well!

If you have any toy sightings to post, let us know in our Toy Sighting Database!

Not quite. It's likely that Hauler aka Grapple was held back one year for unknown reasons, the news reached the studios just in time for him not to appear again until Season 2. Such changes do happen.

Meanwhile here I am in Australia, stunned at the very concept of being able to buy food (let alone Ben & Jerry's =P~ ) and Transformers at the same store!

Anyways, I've had Brawn for just a little over 24 hours now and I have to say I'm quite enjoying the figure. No pictures yet 'cause I'm lazy, but he's absolutely a fun little figure and probably tied for my fourth-favorite Legends mold so far in the line. (Bear in mind that while that doesn't sound like much, I think TR has had some of the best Legends in a while; he's surpassed by Wheelie, Kickback and Gnaw, and I'd put him about even with Bee at this point.) I do still have my issues with him, primarily a few paint blemishes - despite the fact that I picked the best-painted of the three there, he's still got some noticeable smudging on the left forearm - and the fact that his torso seems... oddly-proportioned in robot mode.

I don't know exactly what it is about the torso - maybe it's that having the exact same dimensions all the way to the hips makes it seem like he has a giant 'chest', maybe it actually is a bit too long to fit proportionally. (Upon examining images, it does indeed look like the 'chest' area has been way stretched-out, comparing it to both cartoon and toy renditions.) Either way, it bothers me a bit and makes him a little less dynamic-looking, but by no means does it outweigh any of the positives! ;)^

That aside, there's just something about him that leaves me feeling underwhelmed somehow. Maybe it's the slight imperfections, maybe it's the fact that I've been looking for him for so long that it feels unreal to actually hold him in my hand - but something leaves me with less of an impression than I usually have when I pick up a new TF. I have a right blast whenever I actually play with him and there's no definable quality that really brings him down much, aside from the mis-proportioned torso, but I guess it's just some personal combination of factors that makes him feel like less of an 'event' than a new toy usually does.

Of course, more than usual in a review, I'd say that this underwhelming-ness is a very personal thing. Objectively, Brawn's a pretty great toy! And I don't regret buying him in the least; far from it! :D I just wish he left more of an impact on me, for a toy I'd spent so long pining after.

Hasbro artist Ken Christiansen has posted an image of his concept art for Titans Return Twinferno's toy. You can see what made it and didn't make it to the final toy. For instance, we can see the stark contrast for the organic arms and legs in dragon mode. However, the dragon heads do not have an underbite and the the torso is more wide than it is long.

Enjoy!

I do wonder how it was intended to transform, though - assuming it would use the same transformation scheme as the final TR toy would make for an extremely wonky robot mode. I have to admit that the monster mode does look fantastic there... but where was the TM cockpit originally, I wonder? There doesn't seem to be one on the chest.

Maybe this was like the original Galvatron and Alpha Trion designs; where they weren't initially designed for Titans Return but got co-opted in? It would certainly go some way in explaining why he's randomly there and his two cohorts don't get the same treatment.

Maybe this was like the original Galvatron and Alpha Trion designs; where they weren't initially designed for Titans Return but got co-opted in? It would certainly go some way in explaining why he's randomly there and his two cohorts don't get the same treatment.

Hmm, that might be right. Given that the final product doesn't exactly have the greatest TM integration (cockpit on the front, two pegs on the back), it doesn't seem far off that the design could have been altered to accommodate them - plus possibly some other changes.

In fact, if the original transformation scheme involved rotating the beast heads out to the sides, rather than downward on a single panel as in the final, that could also explain a) what the hypothetical chest space could be used for in robot mode (to store the beast arms that may rotate in there to hide); and b) why the torso is so short, since if there's no need for a cockpit or that huge long folding chest-flap, the body can be as short and stocky as they'd want! That would also explain why the neck bases/robot shoulders seem to be attached directly to the top of the torso, rather than to the inner-front of the chest and then pegged into the top of the torso, if the panel they're attached to was intended to be there (instead of above and in front). :-?

Man, I don't even know if I'm articulating this well at all. It's definitely not an obvious change, more something I'm just sort of constructing in my mind, but at the same time I wouldn't say it's too impossible for that to have been the case originally. TL;DR Hypothetical alternate transformation schemes are fun! I still don't know what they'd do about those teensy robot legs, though...

I love this artwork. My Twinferno is my new fave and I like this beginning to the design process.

Maybe they'd still unfold from the tail end? I do like how they managed to turn him into a TR if this was a previous design. To those that have this toy, I have a question. What is the purpose of his crotch plate being able to flip up? Just for added leg articulation?

Heh, yeah you're probably right. I'd somehow forgotten how Twinferno's lower body transforms (despite having owned him for like four months  ), and had this idea that the puny little lower-monster-body was what turned into his entire lower legs. But yeah, now that you've reminded me how the thing actually works, the tail's probably still big enough to retain fine leg proportions in robot mode.

Yeah, it seems to be pretty much for articulation only. It certainly doesn't do anything for beast mode - in fact, if you have it in any position other than default-straight-down, it gets in the way of a bunch of connections for the legs and tail. So yeah, probably just to let him move his robot hips more than like 10 degrees forward.
(I'm pretty confident on the above, but I understand if you don't trust me on it, seeing as I'm the same guy who totally forgot how the toy even worked an hour ago. :P )

Haha, no prob. I just found out something cool about one of my toys I've had for a long while (don't remember which, so lotta good that did me). Though, I did notice that I'm not the only one who thinks his torso is a bit on the short end. His proportions seem fine in bot mode, but something about it just feels off.

EDIT: I realize we are rather talking of redecos for this BB mold, oops.

A Nickel would be good, and it would be really good if I could get one for a nickel.
God bless, Jason Scott Irelan
