After having his face shown off for the first time earlier this week it appears as if Cogman is getting a toy! Weibo user 变形金刚改造工厂的淘宝店 has shown off another one of those packaging images that revealed the Infernocus combiner, deluxe Megatron, voyager Nitro, and deluxe Skullitron. No name nor robot mode is seen on the box art, but based on the alt mode seen and the rumors, this would appear to be Cogman. Check out the image below, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

Either a one step thing or they weren't able to acquire a licence to model toys to an accurate Aston Martin the symbol is on the side of the car though.

Probably more of a rotf Sideways situation then a Dino/Mirage one.

The fact it seems to have the Aston Martin symbol makes it a licensed model. One-Steps always have some design compromises in order to accommodate the gimmick.

Speaking of models, is there a list somewhere of all the models used?

Which Faction is Cogman - and do we even know why he's called that ?

It's not a compromise thing, it just doesn't look like an Aston. The details are all off.

Cogman is an Autobot Headmaster and it's just character name made up for the movies which is fine new characters keep thing fresh.

This is his headmaster's robot form notice the gears and cogs in his details.

Image

Here is his bio as described by Tfwiki

Cogman is a Headmaster, diminutive in size for a Transformer. As the faithful manservant of Sir Edmund Burton, he's very polite and proper, but suffers from... "anger issues."

Honestly after Rogue one and the fact that Alan Tudyk was already in DOTM I'm getting that feeling in my guy that Alan will be voicing Cogman.

I thought Cogman was a silly name when I first saw it but it's grown on me especially from what we know about the character so far.

Have to admit I love those cog details on him too. A lil too intricate to work on the toy though? :P

Cogman isn't an entirely uncommon surname in England which puts the character in rare company with Shrapnel (the shards of exploded metal and debris the Insecticon is named for comes from British Lieutenant General Henry Shrapnel). The name cogman originally comes from the seller of coarse cloth or cogware. Incidentally, a cog is the tooth of a gear, not the gear itself.

There are a few more TF names out there that are also human names, be they first names or last names.

Dino is a good example I used to dislike the name but when I think of how he was supposed to be named Mirage I think it fits since Dino sounds a bit exotic which fits with G1 Mirage being high class.

And it sounds cool to say dee-no just like mi-raaagee

My head canon (which is not a fact OK) in the movieverse transformers with more "human" names were of the higher class and rich citizens and most of them were killed during the war because of stereotypical most rich people are incompetent tropes.

I know, I didn't say they were the only two, just that it's rare. I only used Shrapnel as a popular example.

This isn't entirely related to the toys, but are those teeth on Cogman's cheeks? It kinda looks like he has a huge mouth and the scuba mouth thing is covering the front of it.

Uhmm, okay, that's not an Aston in any way shape or form, and it seems kind of strange to just plaster the logo on the side of a car that looks nothing like any car they make. Especially when they could.have put it on the front of the car, like actual Aston Martins. Has anything like this happened before? Like, a one step/legion class Bumblebee that doesn't look like a camaro and the just put the Chevy logo in some random place? Hmm :-?

Jesus Christ, that's terrifying. I just imagine some horror movie where he scuttles on all fours and has this gigantic mouth with thousands of teeth and a super-long pointed tongue. Bleh.

Doesn't Grimlock from IDW have a similar thing going on? Or Mileena from those Mortal Kombat games since they gave her lips?

Don't suppose as a Headmaster his toy will have any compatiblity with Titans Return, hm?

Seems like an ideal promo toy to make either a G1 Fort Max compatible or Titans Return compatible mini-figure.

If he's a Headmasters (head) then

Why the car mode (does he have a tector body or the ability to capture earth tech to make it into a body for him.

Or does he have a partner character he turns into the head of.

He does solve one issue Bay has been reluctant to deal with which is talking in vehicle mode (though Mudflap and Skids did it very briefly). as when in vehicle mode he'd be sitting in the vehicle and if a human was with him he'd be able to conduct a normal conversation.

So just an observation anyway.

That's what Bay did say.

Although I'm sure the Aston Martin is his original body since it hasn't been seen around Decepticons during filming although if it was a con it might not transform until being taken over.

The Dead space one would be cooler but a loud minority of fans would probably be like "It's too violent an Autobot would never do that" while praising characters like G1 Dinobots and Wreckers for doing the same thing.

It fits what we have heard from Cogman's character anyways.

Lets go over the unwritten ground-rules... the ones your not supposed to break that you just did.

1: What comes from Kiss Players stays in Kiss Players.

2: You do not talk about Kiss Players

Gotta get em all eh?

Just like with this toyline (I bought nothing from AOE and I got the G1 Dinobot set with the heads) I only need a Scorn which the new voyager will do and Slash who looks so much better in those colors.

I will buy all the main characters though if I get enough money for them.

A shame those tongues are so...phallic, and the rest of the manga is so horrible, because otherwise the Legion would be legitimately awesome enemies. Flesh-eating Decepticons cloned from Galvatron himself? Hell yeah!

Unlike other inherently dull-storied TF works like the Energon cartoon, the CW cartoon, and ROTF, Kiss Players' faults lie not in its story but in its perverted content. Unlike the other three where the makers obliviously believed that they were making something good, Kiss Players' creator knew good and well what he was doing, deliberately putting that stuff in just to spark a controversial, shocking, freak-out reaction from the readers. But take all that stuff away and what remains is one decent political storyline featuring the heroes on the run from a corrupt government, and a second uber-geeky storyline featuring the mutliverse/Brave Maximus/Primus/Vector Sigma/Unicron/Angolmois/etc.

It's one thing to unintentionally garner a negative reaction from your audience, but it's another thing entirely to do so on purpose for the sake of desired infamy.

The one good thing from Kiss Players were the Autotroopers.

Really out of all the things I actually want repeated in a future show it's them for the same reason as Clone Troopers in Clone wars we can have expendable troopers that are not drones both for giving the cons something to kill and make the Autobots look less like unstoppable machine gods.

Maybe make a couple of them actual characters too or make a "false protagonist" out of one like one of these guys.

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Autobot_rookie
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Under-3

Autotroopers vs Vehicons would be great especially if we get specialists or variety like Tank Vehicons and Helicopter Autotroopers or any one of the Wfc/Foc enemies.

I wouldn't want to continue something Burn just told us not to.

Anyways do you guys think we are going to get more remolds of Generation figures as movie characters like Megatron?

Or how about Cogman as an accurate Aston Martin, the red Mclaren, Canopy or the WW1 tank?

How about all the other cons like Onslaught,Hooligan and Mohawk we got Megatron,Barricade,Nitro and Berserker so far and we are not sure if the last guy is even in the movie. (I think he is because he is in wave one and unlike Slash is a completely new mold why would they make a new mold for someone not in the film in a so far repaint heavy line while giving him a different name from Crankcase?)

I had not seen that before. "cool".

He looks pretty decent.. (I can't wait for the overscale KO with metal parts - laugh).

I realise the Kiss Players conversation was a bit 'naughty' but I found it interesting as it got me thinking about the idea of Generic Autobots - and how they use Generic Decepticons in the Movies and if or how Generic Autobots might fit in - like if Optimus Came back with an army or some such.

They soon forgot about "Starscream's Babies" I wonder if they evolved into some of the Robots hanging around in later Movies or if they all died. or here is an idea - what if Starscream put a part of himself into them all so one of them could pull a B-4/Data like plot and allow Starscream's resurrection via that means ?

I'm guessing the horde of robots that came from the moon account for a good portion of those characters though... but it's strange to think that really there is very little distinction actually offered to where they came from or how long they have been here.

Like for example when NEST were globe trotting the world merrily committing Genocide - did any of the ones they hunted down include the legacy Transformers who'd been there for donkey's years ?

I'm very keen to see the robot mode for this World War I tank Transformer - I'm interested to see if he looks like The Centurion Tank version of Grimlock at all .

While I think of it too - do we know what the 'Dino-babies' actually are yet ?

Yeah what is up with the non-showing of the real Bumblebee robot mode? The CG pic has made it right on my want list for ages but I need to see the actual toy that's gonna go on my shelf.
