My idea is Canadian-theme, too. Now if only I can find a way to make realistic-looking fire without actually starting a fire...
Re: The First SEIBERTRON.com Photocontest of 2007 (21289)
Posted by Omega-1 on February 13th, 2007 @ 10:51pm CST
Because the theme is recreate a historical scene and not recreate a historical photo, I've reversed the angle of the scene to create a better photo (so that we are looking at the front of the toys rather than their backs).

Also, why use fake fire when you can use real fire. :P

Great so see everyone being so positive about this theme. We thought it was pretty hard to come up with a nice one. We hope we can continue with a large number of participants, just like the 2nd or 3rd contest.

So if you have any friends who might think this is interesting, just tell them to come to SEIBERTRON.com! Also, tell other members about this contest, maybe you know some people who have entered before.

Your fire looks really good, Cujo, I'll have to do some experimenting.

I'll start work on mine as soon as I can, but I have some school stuff to get out of the way first. What's the deadline, again?

One more thing: Could we have the Photocontest story Stickied in the News? More people would enter if they knew about it, I'm sure.

Thanks, mate! But I meant to have it stickied on the News reel. News changes every day and very quickly, so it would be best if the Contest was stuck to the news, or at least Feature Highlighted on the front page. It'll spread the word better that way. If I hadn't logged on the day the Photocontest story was in the news, I probably wouldn't have known about it.

My entry's up! Questions, comments, anything?

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. The general idea I thought was interesting, and I thought I pulled it off well enough. I used the first capital inaguration cause it looked like the easiest pic to replicate, while adding my own little touch.

The reason why Sparkplug is on Bumblebee's shoulder's is cause I thought it would be funny to have a Mini-con not being able to see well enough from the ground.

I don't really understand the use of Sparkplug. Is there a kid in the drawing? I didn't really give it a good lookdown. I really like how Hot Shot is holding the rifle.

Holy crap, that Harry Defeats Truman one was awesome!

Smallworm's 9/11 photo is very well thought out and executed, without a doubt, if the contest was reproducing a famous photo, I think he would have the contest so far in hand, just because of the attention to detail.

Nevertheless, my personal favorite so far is the Dewey-defeats-Truman one. One of the funniest historical events made funnier with Transformers. To be 100% though it needed to be rendered in black and white.

No kid in the drawing, but like I said, I took some liberties with it. There could have been a kid at the inaguration, and I just wanted to do something a little interesting.

And The 9/11, Truman, and Astrotrain pics are cool. I really like the Astrotrain one, really good representation.
