I'm curious how many people exactly would be interested in this set now. Ultra Magnus has the exact same paint apps as in CW, there's a far, faaaar superior version of Blurr thanks to TR (and thanks to Takara, also available in a much more movie-accurate deco), and we're getting a more G1-accurate version of Kup. That leaves Arcee, whom you can get a very similar deco of from Takara; and Springer, who... doesn't look half bad, but the Generations version still looks better.

So, factoring in the price of the figures, it's about a $30 premium for the paint jobs. I'll wait until they're on sale.

I actually have a couple friends getting this. They don't buy figures by waves and so this set actually works for those who wan to get almost the entire autobot cast.

The magnus different. While the layout is the same he has Takaras more rich colors as well as the white portions being white and not that cream color white.

I am not getting it because the decos are not different enough to warrant this purchase and I preffer the autobot cast I made using TR Blurr (and hopefully with a new Kup). The Platinum Sweeps and Dinobots had decos evoking cool sets that were way out of my reach but this one doesnt really give me much that's new. Though for those who dont have these molds yet, this is an awesome set to get and its priced reasonably enough. Its not a deal but its not price gouging either as other sets have been.

Also, magnus is different, you can see it in the gallery images.

I stared at CW Magnus and Platinum Magnus for ages and couldn't see a single difference. Minimus has different (read: better) apps for sure, but I couldn't see any difference between the Magnuses. Magni?

Magnus has the same shiny paint treatment that the other four in the set have, and has several tiny light details his knees/shoulders/etc. painted in that weren't painted on the Hasbro CW release but which were painted in the Takara Legends release.

Which is an extremely weird omission for a movie-accurate pack, since her guns are the ones she had in the movie and the swords are the ones she explicitly did not have until 20 years later.

If this set had comprised of

Leader cl Ultra Magnus with Daniel (minimus ambus repaint)
Takara Headmaster Blurr
Takara Arcee
Takara Wheelie
CHUG Wreck-Gar (I think he was reveal the shield or hftd)
Springer (which they have)
Titanmasters Hot Rod
Kup (don't know if new mold is coming out)

this would be legit

have a Decepticon one with
Titanmasters Galvatron
Takara Headmaster Scourge (with pink claw repaint
Titanmasters Scourge (x2)
Cyclonus (from that two-pack with Hot-Rod, lighter purple color)
CHUG Cyclonus
Titanmaster Legends cl Gnaw (x3)

I'll wait for it to hit Canadian retailers and hopefully a sale, but I'm likely buying this. I'd like a second Magnus (one for movie shelf, one lost light) and a second arcee. I'm a springer fanboy. Friend of mine is a blurr fanboy so will take blurr and likely kup off my hands.

I would like to get this set since I have not had most of these molds before I only have Springer and I would love to own this set even if some of them have better versions of themselves out there.

While there might be "better versions" out there, I will say that all these molds are good :) I hope you get it someday!

It appeared on walmart.ca already (and then disapeared) so its more than likely a walmart exclusive, just like the Platinum BB+Grimlock set.

I'm thinking I'll buy this when it eventually goes on discount, sets this big usually do (managed to get the Planet of Junk set for $50 on BBTS!). My problem is I'm collecting G1 Movie characters AND MTMTE characters, so there's an overlap. I'd also like to keep them in separate sections. Basically I need a second Springer and Magnus in particular, I already have 2 Generations Kup with upgrade IDW heads thanks to ebay and a friend of mine will buy the Kup in this set. I'll probably sell off Blurr and Arcee since I already have them (Generations and Takara Titans Return for Blurr) so if anyone wants those 2, I'd be happy to split a set.

The blue stripe on Magnus' cab is new. Dang obvious too, y'all need to focus up ;)

I'm surprised it's only $149. Given it's in the Platinum line, would have pegged it for $175-200.

Lastly, I enjoy how many of this year's Platinum line molds are in this picture:

I got my Liokaiser today. Overall, I'm impressed, though like many, I would have preferred a split torso and two figures over a Sky Lynx repaint. The head sculpts are amazing. Ryan, if you are following this thread, are you getting this and are you planning a gallery? If so, I cannot wait to see it. ;)^

One thing I might try to post is that goofy pose Hellbat does in that dance thingy...you know, kinda like this:

Oh, one more thing. I seem to remember Sabrblade mentioning several times something about unpaintable plastic. Soft plastics are like that, right? Soft plastic like the vertical tail fins on the jets Hellbat and Guyhawk, right? Yeah, one of the black stripes on Hellbat has really tacky paint and now will forever have my fingerprint. #-o

Crap, now I'm going to obsess over mine until I'm home from a business trip in a few days to see if I have anything to worry about.

Like you, I think the set is really nice for what it is. The headscultps and premium paint apps are worth it, even if Hasbro had to take liberties with the team members.

Soft plastic can be painted, but it needs to be the right paint, otherwise it never properly dries. The plasticizer that keeps the plastic soft seeps into the paint keeping it soft as well.

That soft rubbery plastic isn't the unpaintable kind. Here's a better rundown of what unpaintable plastic entails.

I know it would never happen, but I wouldn't mind separate release deluxes of the left out members. Leozack, Jallguar, and Deathcobra.

Yeah, it's a bunch of previously released molds with "slight" touch ups on the paint apps, but I had to have it after viewing this set at SDCC this past July. It's quite impressive. I own previous releases of these molds sans the CW Ultra Magnus and I had been wanting to pick him up but never found him on store shelves. Can't wait, as mine will be arriving this Friday the 11th. I'll be displaying this set along side the G1 molds of these figures, minus Arcee for obvious reasons. One of my favorite movies of all time. :BOT:

Received my replacement Platinum Seeker set and I really like it. The bots look only ok, and the parts-forming is annoying, but I understand why and accept it. But I really dig the metal giving the figures some bulk, and the plane-modes are glorious. I'm not a big sticker guy, but I think I'll have to put these on. So thus far I love this set and the Predaking set. This has made me just about ready to pull the trigger on the Insecticons platinum set. Any other Platinum G1 sets worth looking into?

Just finished unboxing and transforming all of my Liokaiser components, and - as of right now - Dezarus' joints are soooo nice and tight. All of the deluxe's joint are tight too, this is especially nice for Killbison and Drillhorns' ab sections. And all the paint work is just to die for, this set truly feels like a 'Platinum' release, just on paint apps alone, they're everywhere =P~

Haven't combined them yet, want them to warm up a little after being in the cold weather travelling for the whole week, and I have to get to work. Will update you guys later, but I will say that - based on my experience alone - this set is a nice way to experience a better qc version of sky lynx and brawl.

And on a side note, I do not have a problem with unset paint on the soft rubber of my figures, I was wary of that and fiddled with them with a glasses lens cleaning cloth and then used my hands, and found no problems.

The perceptor and Blaster set. I think it's awesome and it also has tons of value since it has 5 G1 toys at once with a ton of accessories, some even exclusive to the set. You can still find it for a good price on e-bay.

Further into my playing with Liokaiser, my Hellbats knees are to loose to hold up the arm in combined mode, but, whatever. The more interesting part, is that the heads are not designed in such a way as to allow for alternate limb configuration with ease. They can alternate limb configurations with full clearance, but Guyhawks head has to be tilted all the way back, and the tank bro's need to be tilted upward under the turret in arm mode so as to not collide with their own pelvis'.

Still an awesome set - definitely worth it, the tighter joints on Dezarus really help, but he's still top heavy unfortunately. The limbs do look great on Galvatronus though :x

The Hellbat issue may not be one that affects the figure in general, because mine is fine. Both his and Guyhawks legs don't peg together very well, so I've got that going on, but the knees are fine.

I cannot believe that people think that this ridiculous drillbit thing on Brawl is somehow a more acceptable Nosecone than the Unite Warriors one. I know that's off topic for this thread, but Drillhorn is my first exposure to the mold and mod, and boy does it suck. Drillhorn is cool, but having UW Nosecone, I can't accept this as a Nosecone figure at all.

Also, this set is my first Arms Micron exposure. I'm not all that impressed.

I'm well aware that what plagues one figure might not affect another, just reporting on mine ;)^

That sucks though that your figures' legs won't peg together, I don't think that any of my cw figs had that issue.

Well, they were just simple model kits...

I'm well aware that what plagues one figure might not affect another, just reporting on mine ;)^

Yeah, and I was just reporting on mine, so.

Yeah, but I'd heard a lot of good things about them in the however many years since they were first released, so I suppose all of that had influenced my thoughts of what they were. People often spoke highly of them, so I assumed that meant the were things worthy of being spoken highly of. I'm sorry, I guess?

Some of the Arms Microns might have been praiseworthy enough on this own (I don't recall hearing such about the Gul mold, though), but I think most of the praise came from potential created by having many Arms Microns, as a bunch of different ones together as a collective offered a wider range of playability via the many diverse weapon combinations that one could create from having multiple different Arms Microns.

I hope someone sells those Autobots separately on eBay for not horrible prices. I want that Ultra Magnus (provided they've fixed the QC issues with him) but I'm not really interested in the others. I wanna get Sandstorm rather than Springer, Blurr doesn't sit that mold, I've already got PRID Kup who's a pretty good toy, and Arcee, as good as she looks there, doesn't come with her weapons aside from her swords in that release.

For anyone with the Liokaiser set, is he having floppyness issues at all? Peaugh is saying his is pretty floppy and it looks it too:

Looks like Robot Kingdom got their Unicron Platinum Editions in:

That packaging art looks super spiffy. Sadly I'm torn between getting it or CW Devastator. Both are about the same amount.
