Any idea on if BA will have the same web/claw weapon as the Animated one? It would suck if she didn't.

Takara's "Armada" Megatron is clearly superior, but the TFCC and Takara RiD Scourges are way too close to call.

I went to the Tokyo You show on Saturday at 2pm with a Japanese friend. All the Megatrons and Scourges were sold out. My Japanese friend was shocked, as she wanted to buy Megatron for her son. She didn't understand why they sold out, considering she could easily get the special toys at the previous Transformers exhibition a while back. I simply explained that "This show is free entry, do every scalper from Japan, America and Hong Kong has come here, with their cronies, and bought them all up to sell at extortionate process. They online. They don't care about the fact that toys at a kids you show are for kids, and not does Takara at this point, either."

She went to toys r us and got him the G1 version instead.

Anyway, Takara were bang out of order for not making enough this year and/or not restricting some of the toys for kids only. It's not a collectors' show like winner festival. It's a kids' event.

Isn't this Transformers Legends Thread? Figures in the line are modern updates of the characters we know. Accuracy as in show accurate, more or less belongs to the MP line.

Legends Arcee for instance has those energon blades, from IDW but this version was given the 1986 Movie deco.

Blackwidow more or less from the TFA mold........really not accurate from the original BW fig.

Yeah exactly, this toy is based on a mold for another rendition of the character from a different show and different toyline so obviously it wont be accurate 100%. This isn't an original BW Blackarachnia mold, it never was, so I dont see why anything beyond the deco is in question.

Nothing beyond the deco is in question... the paint/plastic colors are not accurate, and neither are the applications. They nailed Arcee, Chromia, and Windblade, so I don't understand why this is so wonky

How did they nail Chromia? That is not at all how she looked like in the G1 show.

Would you mind pointing where those wheels are on her character model?

Image

The way I see it, that Blackarachnia is as accurate as Chromia.

And I really don't get that comment for Windblade? No sh!t they nailed it, she was a toy first.

That may be a subjective opinion in your part (that or this isn't MP style). Chromia btw was a truck like vehicle in G1. IDW, a cycle but TT still gave her the G1 paint apps.

I'm not seeing the faults with this deco on a resculpted Animated Blackarachnia. I think Takara Tomy did the best job anyone could ask of them. Everything is the right color, as far as I can see. Yes, that red hourglass on her forehead is supposed to be there. It's a faint but nonetheless present part of her character model on the original cartoon. It's easier to see in close-up shots of her face. The striping on the one set of spider legs along her forearms helps mimic her original "pincer" hands. The hourglass and yellow detailing on her waistline are to homage the spider eyes that were there in the original character model. Obviously, they're (the spider eyes) not located there on the Animated mold, but this is a nice compromise that still tries to emulate her screen portrayal as well as possible. Even the purple on her thighs is supposed to be there, although it should be on the insides, not the outsides, but once more, we're dealing with the limitations of the mold.

Thighs and feet should be purple, her upper arms are absolutely crazy and do not match the show model at all, the hourglass on her spider abdomen is bizzare by skipping over the already molded one in favor of painting a slab of plastic that is practically shapeless, and her breasts make no sense... translucent with gray detailing. Not accurate at all.
Glad y'all are fine with it, but I think it could have been done better, just like the remold. She has no stomach, and they could have gotten rid of the front two spider legs and put all four on her arms and tucked her robot legs away in beast mode (which could have stood a remold themselves). It's decent, but if they really wanted to make her Beast Wars accurate, they could have and chose not to... disappointing

Maybe it would help if we observed at the parts that were being considered not accurate enough.

Let's see...
MartianSpyGirl1996 wrote:the chest, the arms, the hourglass, her weapon?
The chest:
Image
Image

The chest is bulbous in both show and toy form with the spider leg designs arranged in similar positions that branch out from the upper-center and curve back inward around the perimeter. The only major difference is that chest on the toy is translucent while the chest on the show is opaque.

The arms:
Image
Image

Due to the limitations of using this mold, the forearms are colored to emulate the claws she had in the cartoon, while the shoulders are colors to evoke the shoulders pads of her cartoon model. Granted, the upper arms are indeed the parts that deviate from the colors of cartoon model's upper arms, but that again comes from using this particular mold and having to make compromises with it. Since the entirety of both arms forms a spider leg, it makes sense for the whole of each leg to have a consistent pattern running its entire length, so the upper arms are the only parts not colored correctly for the sake of not looking weird in spider mode.

Plus, the spider legs are not on the toy's forearms since the transformation calls for them to be attached to the toy's back, what with each arm becoming a spider leg. Otherwise, had the orange spider legs been attached to the robot forearms, then the spider mode would have four of its six legs attached to two other legs instead of the spider's body.

The hourglass:
Image
Image

The hourglass is where it's supposed to be and decently visible, even if the one in the cartoon only mostly visible in close up shots and in proper lighting.

Unless the hourglass on her waist was the intended subject:
Image
Image

That's another compromise made from using this mold, since that hourglass was molded into the waist from the original version. With all the other retooling put into this mold, it probably wasn't in the budget to redo the waist to give it spider eyes on top of all the other modifications made to the mold.

The weapon:
Image
Image

As far we can tell, the Legends toy bears no weapon, so we can't really talk about this one. :PEACE:

MartianSpyGirl1996 wrote:Thighs and feet should be purple, her upper arms are absolutely crazy and do not match the show model at all, the hourglass on her spider abdomen is bizzare by skipping over the already molded one in favor of painting a slab of plastic that is practically shapeless, and her breasts make no sense... translucent with gray detailing. The thighs:
Image
Image

The outer thighs are the same black as her pelvis, and which runs the entire length of her thigh, while only the top half of her inner thighs are purple, with the bottom half being the same gold piece that divides the two halves if each thigh. But since the molding of the Legends toy doesn't allow for this kind of coloring, they are colored black since that was the dominate color of her thighs in the show, with the little slots being purple as a nod to the inner thighs' purple.

The feet:
Image
Image

The feet of the Legends toy are purple like on the show, so moving on.

The spider abdomen hourglass... is not visible in the shots of the Legends toy seen on this website, so I'm not sure there is to complain about here. :???:

Already talked about her chest.

The smaller stomach comes from the original mold, so there's not much of anything that could have been done there short of remaking the entire mold from the ground up.

The proposition about the spider legs and the robot limbs is unreasonable for what Takara was trying for with this mold. Redoing all the limbs combined with having the redo the body (to fix the stomach), coupled with the retooling that has already been done, would end up with essentially leaving nothing from the mold intact, at which point would everyone start asking why Takara would even bother using this mold instead of just creating a brand new one since all the changes that would need to be made to it would essentially (and needlessly) render it as a completely new mold altogether.

As for Blackie, you bunch of saussages call for a MP while that modded Animated chick do the job very well.

Are you dense person #4 or is it #5 WJ?

Not accurate at all.
Glad y'all are fine with it, but I think it could have been done better, just like the remold. She has no stomach, and they could have gotten rid of the front two spider legs and put all four on her arms and tucked her robot legs away in beast mode (which could have stood a remold themselves). It's decent, but if they really wanted to make her Beast Wars accurate, they could have and chose not to... disappointing

Btw, based on the original source quote posted by the Martian, he really has this things about breasts......

Was there ever a time when arguments could be won based on facts and rational thought?

I dont know man, sounds like a pretty dense idea to me.

PS: If there ever was a time, Sabrblade found it.

I suggest some of you (staff included ...) take a step back and calm your asses down. Seriously, calling each other dense? You ALL should know better.

Given an animated sculpt, They did a bang-up job of creating a Blackarachnia that fits almost perfectly with her Beast Wars design. Yes, there are going to be differences (It is animated to Beast Wars!) But it still looks good to me. :BOT:

All this talk of the fatty tissue located in a female mammal's upper torso, I checked on what the original Black Widow looked like.

Well, those dingdongs at tfwiki DID not disappoint

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Black_Arachnia

Going to the extent of calling her an F cup holder (for those of the male gender, an F cup is a breast size measurement on how big a bra would fit).

So, to some extent, this retool of Blackwidow is accurate to a "T" or a "D" or "E" or "F" (pun intended) ;)

The rest was sarcastic, right? (That's how I originally read it.) Might need a sarcasm tag... ;;)

I had thought, given the limitations of the mode, that this was a remarkable homage to BW BA. It's not perfect, but I don't know what would be given the flexibility of animation that doesn't carry over to actual physics...

1. Yes

2. Yes also. For the mold limitation, Blackwidow more or less is a more proportional homage to the original F cupper femme fatale.

Btw, atSabrblade or stovokor if both of you are listening, I made a link to this figure:

http://www.tfu.info/1999/Maximal/Blacka ... achnia.htm

the wiki states that this was delayed for release back then because of some chest armor adjustments. What the heck was adjusted?

Well, if that's how she looked in the cartoon, then I'm glad the toy looks how it does.

Earlier shipments had the blue bra piece more easily removable from her chest, while later shipments had the piece glued on (but still removable with some force).

That's not it at all. The chest armor was always removable, NEVER glued.

I made a funny picture a while ago to show what this is all about:

Image

See the holes where Blackie's nipples should be? There's pegs inside the bra to fix it there.
That is the fixed version.
Try to imagine what the original was?
That's right, Blackie had a great case of the epic erect nipples and the bra pegged there. :x
