I find myself always willing to pay more for Takara brand.
I don't have much of the classics line, may start with these badboys.

Also the colors are nice but the figure is still the Worst classic out.

I am sure that the story will get edited with your name as credit.
I ordered another one of these cause I like the colors so much!

i never realized how many people disliked this toy. he's my favorite in the classics line to date. I always loved the character and the original toy too. This repaint looks great, really makes me regret not getting that e-hobby repaint.

All right, I earned a cookie! I agree that the toy is umm crappy but now it's G1 Accurate crap. And that's what really counts.

But, all criticism aside, I'm loving hese colors! I may pick this one up instead of the Hasbro version.

However, I love their take on Classics Megatron over Hasbro's colors but with a third kid on the way I can't shell out that extra cost when I already have Hasbro's Classics Megatron.

Cartoon Starscream didn't have the blue nosecone though, that was just the toy.Ultra Prime wrote:It's nice that TakaraTomy has made there Classics more G1 toon accurate colors but they missed a spot on two of the figures. Starscream should've had a blue nosecone tip and the front half of the train on Astrotrain should've at least been alternating purple and grey stripes not purple and white.

Classics Megatron looks better in G1 accurate colors. Astrotrain, however...is a good repaint...but... I'd recommend this one to people that might have for some reason passed on him to begin with, but for those that picked the US version up already...Why be bothered with this version? Pass.

I’ll be getting this version, seeing as to how much they changed lets hope we get a better Cliffjumper.
Cliffjumper was for the most part perfect the way he was. The only way TakaraTomy can do better is to muzzle those who want the G1-accurate head by (needlessly) creating it for their version.

I also find this amusing, considering how excited some of us were when G1 Astrotrain was reissued in realistic white-and-black colors.

bonus points for not being white plastic so no need to worry about yellowing hooray

Now if they make the missing Seekers...then I'll be buying.

Autobot032 wrote:Wow. He does look nice. Too bad he's not worth more than $10.00 as a figure. Don't get me wrong, I like him, but he's good only as a $10.00 figure.

You and about eleventy billion others.

Not that I'd use them, but how much do you think the BBTS mark up will be on this?
After Stealth BB, I'm pretty sure they have an eye on the forums and set prices by our levels of emthusiasm.
So, BOO, this figure sucks! How can I hate it more, by having it at a fair and affordable price!!!
Yeah I'll gladly import it, so I can burn it!
(just trying to help)

I appreciate the effort and would probably get it if I didn't have the original, but my biggest misgivings with the original were not the colors, anyway.

I'm conflicted, on the one hand this looks better than my Hasbro one(which has appalling paint apps) but on the other this mold sucks balls and I don't want to buy it again.

This is kind of where I'm at. I wouldn't call the G1 color-scheme hideous, I just like the white and black better. This is for those who either passed on the original Classics Astrotrain, or for those who would rather have the G1 show-accurate deco.

Considering I'd display him mostly in 'bot mode, I'll likely go with this one.

I reckon Mirage is an improvement as well, but I don't have enough of a beef with the original one to warrant buying another.

I think this means I will not be buying Classics Powerglide and will wait for the TT anime accurate one.

to be honest i was not impressed by Hasbro's white version when it first came out here (and apparently, a lot of others too seeing that Astrotrain became the pegwarmer of the Classics line in our country) but seeing the Alt modes the colors fit the mold perfectly, and he grew into me over time.
this versions' colors, though relatively "show-accurate", just doesn't fit the Alt molds right. the shuttle mode looks hideous compared to Hasbro's version, and i guess this is the first time that i have seen a dark gray-colored bullet train.
ah well, to each his own i guess. i'm just looking forward to other TFs i could purchase by passing this one over.

Serveral versions of Astrotrain over the years have sported the white/realistic colorings.
Maybe instead of bashing the old version, we should be happy we have a choice in the matter (or in my case, yet another glorious repaint).
