Not really surprising; I mean, Tomy painted Classics Megatron in "G1 accurate" colors.

Takara just knows how to do stuff right.

I find myself always willing to pay more for Takara brand.

I don't have much of the classics line, may start with these badboys.

Excelent, it looks really awesome. Thank goodness we have Takara Tomy! Maybe they could move to Portugal :D he he. Hopefully they'll release a show accurate G1 Astrotrain reissue on the Encore series . If they do, I'm on first line for it!

I find it odd that Takara is the one coming up with the Show Accurate colors after giving us the original MP Starscream in such Thundercraker-like coloring. Kudos to them, though. The colors look good.

My rear end. How can it be show accurate if he never appeared in the cartoon with that body?

Also the colors are nice but the figure is still the Worst classic out.

In all fairness, zodconvoy, your title is not leading one to believe that this is anything more than a debate on what colors it is, or could be.

I am sure that the story will get edited with your name as credit.

I ordered another one of these cause I like the colors so much!

i never realized how many people disliked this toy. he's my favorite in the classics line to date. I always loved the character and the original toy too. This repaint looks great, really makes me regret not getting that e-hobby repaint.

All right, I earned a cookie! I agree that the toy is umm crappy but now it's G1 Accurate crap. And that's what really counts.

Umm, how can it be show accurate? Especially when thats a bullet train and not a steam engine lol

But, all criticism aside, I'm loving hese colors! I may pick this one up instead of the Hasbro version.

It's nice that TakaraTomy has made there Classics more G1 toon accurate colors but they missed a spot on two of the figures. Starscream should've had a blue nosecone tip and the front half of the train on Astrotrain should've at least been alternating purple and grey stripes not purple and white.

However, I love their take on Classics Megatron over Hasbro's colors but with a third kid on the way I can't shell out that extra cost when I already have Hasbro's Classics Megatron. #-o

Even though I already have Classics Arstrotrain, I might pick this up if it really is repainted like in the pic.(though I'd rather pick up the Grimlock or Mirage repaint, even though I have them also)

Cartoon Starscream didn't have the blue nosecone though, that was just the toy.

Meh, I'm going to wait until we get some better close up shots before I make a final judgment on getting this guy over the Hasbro version. All the pictures are either too small or too blurry to really make out any signifigant details.

Classics Astrotrain and Megatron were the last two from the Classics line. I had been trying to find good prices on ebay but these Takara paint schemes are far superior so I just placed my order for these two over at BBTS

Classics Megatron looks better in G1 accurate colors. Astrotrain, however...is a good repaint...but... I'd recommend this one to people that might have for some reason passed on him to begin with, but for those that picked the US version up already...Why be bothered with this version? Pass.

Cliffjumper was for the most part perfect the way he was. The only way TakaraTomy can do better is to muzzle those who want the G1-accurate head by (needlessly) creating it for their version.

I appreciate the homage, but frankly, I always thought his G1 color-scheme was hideous.

I also find this amusing, considering how excited some of us were when G1 Astrotrain was reissued in realistic white-and-black colors.

Now if they make the missing Seekers...then I'll be buying.

See, now that I will gladly import!

Not that I'd use them, but how much do you think the BBTS mark up will be on this?

After Stealth BB, I'm pretty sure they have an eye on the forums and set prices by our levels of emthusiasm.

So, BOO, this figure sucks! How can I hate it more, by having it at a fair and affordable price!!!

Yeah I'll gladly import it, so I can burn it!

(just trying to help)

heh, you pay import prices for a mold that's the worst (but considerably better than some of the current TF toys) of the Classics line, for what? a gray and purple repaint that doesn't even begin to look good. i could find better stuff to drop that cash on. good thing i already got mine a long time ago dirt-cheap, saves me about another 2 deluxes for the price.

There's no denying the color scheme looks better than that of the original Classic, but I noticed one thing: the new colors really highlight the train kibble in shuttle mode and make the train mode look even lousier than it originally did.

I appreciate the effort and would probably get it if I didn't have the original, but my biggest misgivings with the original were not the colors, anyway.

^^I agree. It's still pretty good, but I wish they'd copied this custom which minimises train kibble showing in shuttle mode.

The Bot & Train look better but the Shuttle looks worse than the Hasbro one in my opinion.

I'm conflicted, on the one hand this looks better than my Hasbro one(which has appalling paint apps) but on the other this mold sucks balls and I don't want to buy it again.

This is kind of where I'm at. I wouldn't call the G1 color-scheme hideous, I just like the white and black better. This is for those who either passed on the original Classics Astrotrain, or for those who would rather have the G1 show-accurate deco.

I actually think in these colours the toy looks significantly worse in both train and shuttle mode. However, he looks much more like Astrotrain in robot mode and that's what he's displayed in 98% of the time, so I'll be picking up this one along with Megatron.

I reckon Mirage is an improvement as well, but I don't have enough of a beef with the original one to warrant buying another.

Sweet. Astrotrain was one of my big beefs with the Classics line. I really never liked the white decos of him. This is much more like it.

I think this means I will not be buying Classics Powerglide and will wait for the TT anime accurate one.

to be honest i was not impressed by Hasbro's white version when it first came out here (and apparently, a lot of others too seeing that Astrotrain became the pegwarmer of the Classics line in our country) but seeing the Alt modes the colors fit the mold perfectly, and he grew into me over time.

this versions' colors, though relatively "show-accurate", just doesn't fit the Alt molds right. the shuttle mode looks hideous compared to Hasbro's version, and i guess this is the first time that i have seen a dark gray-colored bullet train.

ah well, to each his own i guess. i'm just looking forward to other TFs i could purchase by passing this one over.

It should be pointed out that the original white Astrotrain was not without merit.

Serveral versions of Astrotrain over the years have sported the white/realistic colorings.

Maybe instead of bashing the old version, we should be happy we have a choice in the matter (or in my case, yet another glorious repaint).
