Energon Starscream was repainted/remolded into his G1 not-undead look.
All in all, this seems strange to me. I would have expected a line up based on characters' start of show colors, not their repaints, and if they were doing an Energon homage, I would have expected torso-tron to be rendered in white, blue, and green (start of Energon), or to look more like the American version of CW Cyclonus, the G1 colors a close match to Energon Megatron's G1-Galvatron-style repaint.
Edit: I really feel like his left arm is supposed to look like Cybertron Crumplezone, but except for the torso being Thundercracker (if it uses Scattorshot's head), nothing else seems to line up with Cybertron/Galaxy Force. Plus, if they were doing Cybertron, I'd have expected Hotspot and Groove to be Mudflap and Ransack.
Edit 2: Left arm could be Armada Thrust? But again, the rest don't really line up with Armada.

Ah right. Thanks. I have Ghostscream. Forgot about the repaint.Caelus wrote:Energon Starscream was repainted/remolded into his G1 not-undead look.
I'm not convinced on the homage theories yet, though I'm open to them. I'm hoping it's just some wacky new cannon on Takara's part.

Some sort of meta-homage? Various ut figure homages combining to homage g1 toy galvatron... He even has the two-toned cannon... man he does seem a little out there...
I like it, seriously might pre-order this

Torso looks to be based on Galvatron's G1 toy, with the prominent white/lavender.
You've got G1 Starscream on the right arm, and he (pretended to) helped Unicron in the Cartoon.
Left arm looks like Armada Thrust, who was convinced by Sideways to work for Unicron.
Right Leg might be Animated Soundwave? Cybertron Soundwave worked for Unicron, so maybe it's a loose connection?
As for the Left Leg, the only character I know of with that balance of white and red/orange was the 2007 Movie figure Wreckage, who also transformed into that type of vehicle. Although he has zero to do with the big yellow devilbot, so I don't know.

Man, those painted rims really do a world of good for these figures, I hate that hasbro has cheaped out on paint so much that they can't even paint the rims on their figures
Combined mode still looks like garbage with all that molded detail washed out

Yeah, I can see how original idea's can throw people for a loop in a toyline that has devolved into nothing but homages and updates

Yeah, somebody sig'ed a good one a while back
You gonna do galleries for the uw guys - or, at least, defensor, bruticus, and whatever this guy is, since they'll all be 'new'?

Whoever they are, I'm now interested in them. Guess I ought to start setting some aside for Galvatronus (if that even is his name).
I do like the theory that each part of the combined mode has some sort of association with Unicron.

I'm planning on it but probably only after UW Devastator and other new molds that are out currently. Not until after the new year unfortunately.

Yeah, it's a lot more interesting/relevant/proper than making up some bullsh!t excuse for not giving him his own limbs (especially with two whole sets of dumb '84 limbs in the line)

That's cool, no need to feel rushed on my account, besides, with yuki having tweeted about bigroove most of the last half a year, we've seen about everything there is to see of him. Still wouldn't mind a junkion two-pack of him
(could you please name deluxe grooves gallery 'Bigroove'?)

Starscream was killed by a Unicron-powered Galvatron, Thrust was killed by Unicron's shoulder transforming... hell, Megatron could be considered "killed" to create Galvatron... who else was indirectly killed by Unicorn?

Just thinking about this. IF they are homaging the G1 Galvatron toy, (seems pretty logical) why would they homage Hasbro's?Railbomb wrote:I think the torso could be homaging G1 Galvatron's toy colors.
Takara's looked like this.
Edit: My bad. That is the 2005 re-issue. Helps to read the fine print sometimes.

Yeah, the only figure that I can think of that has those colors of white brown and orange would be armada hoist; but who would cyclonus be in those colors? That botcon pirate guy?
Posted by Sabrblade on December 1st, 2015 @ 11:49am CST
I thought of that, and it's a very out-there idea, but it's all I got.Hellscream9999 wrote:but who would cyclonus be in those colors? That botcon pirate guy?
With the torso being G1 Galvatron's gray toy colors, that would make the Cyclonus modes of the toy also be gray, right? That wouldn't make sense for Cyclonus, but would make sense for Megatron. Now, you might be thinking "But Megatron didn't turn into Cyclonus's jet mode." He did once. In this:
As obscure and unlikely as it is (as I don't think anyone would expect this short to be even remotely on Takara's radar), it's all I got to make sense out of a gray Cyclonus jet mode becoming a gray Galvatron combiner torso.

I think it more likely that they went into this project wanting a galvatron torso in toy colors - the combined mode and theme of the limbs seems to be the main point of the combiner, so cyclonus will suffer the side effects.
But there's no reason that they couldn't cross the grey with the off-white of energon megs and compromise with the torso being energon megs... I wonder if any of the heads are being changed? If so, then there might be more new parts for cylonus too
Posted by Mindmaster on December 1st, 2015 @ 12:15pm CST
(I'd put in an image of Stockade to show my theory, but every damn image I could find of him won't show up here for some reason, so here's TFU's entry of the guy)

Alright, I'll take that theory.

Or maybe they can remold to look like Energon Megatron?
The other thought I had was whether they could paint the top side of the mold purple to preserve Cyclonus in alt mode, with a grey underbelly. But, then Cyclonus would be grey in his chest area in bot mode, right?

I would be groaning ONLY for the exorbitant price that would undoubtedly accompany it.
I liked and wanted the tfcc combiner from next year, and I also want tripredacus, I'm just not willing to shell out that kind of cash for what would ostensibly be repaints - sorry, mold fatigue forbids it
If hasbro did it (Undoubtedly with about 1/4 the amount of paint TT seems to be using), I would be all over them
Need me more combiner 's

I just got MP Starscream, but I would still like combinable versions of the Seekers, so Starscream would be neat, at least.

If hasbro did this, the only groans would be that it wasn't computron or abominus or some bs like that, or that they are more repaints, if they did them separately, I think a lot of people would be happy to get spare limbs that homage ut characters

Riiight, the main groan was that it was always good guys, I forgot. I thought people hated Hasbro doing random combiners rather than doing abominus or computron or any other combiner from the history. But yeah with all the autobots, I get how a decepticon combiner no matter how random would be welcomed.

Hasbro confirmed demolisher head isnt happening in a recent interview.
And yes, this is almost certainly a UW exclusive, but its not like we dont have our own. Currently, lots of fans in Japan are complaining that they dont have an offroad, alpha bravo, rook, mtmte cyclonus or white prime with star convoy headsculpt which are all Hasbro exclusive toys. Only fair they have some of their own. And in any case its not like we wont be able to get this. We will, but our costs will depend on whether or not its a ttmall exclusive. Unlike all the previous UW releases, this is the one where a UW exclusive box set will hurt the least since we cant get some of these individually anyways.
What i am most curious about now is the individual headsculpts.

Yeah, I wondered earlier what was the point of bringing over the figs if they don't represent the characters they wanted? Because if this is the case, one could say that Ironhide is close enough to Offroad because they share the same mold...
They already lack the colors (and in some cases affiliations) so they may as well change the heads while they're at it. In the end, Japan still won't have the characters they've been asking for, just the molds... (case in point, if they wanted Rook, because they liked his character in the comics, then, they are still sol)
