"foreign" meaning "Hasbro" version.
Typical Takara placeholders.

At last, now we know. I was pretty sure there weren't any real differences between Takara's solicitation and Hasbro's stock photography. It'll be interesting to see what Takara does with the deco. I wonder if they'll bother to release the "Armada" version as well. Might they go the extra mile and retool it to put the cannon on his hip?

Yeah, I made an edit to the post to point it out.

Takara seems to be avoiding releasing retools of molds from the same line in their Japanese Generations lines lately.Wolfman Jake wrote:It'll be interesting to see what Takara does with the deco. They never released the FOC Wreckers, Doubledealer, Junkheap, Sky Shadow (Black Shadow), Dreadwing, Goldfire, Crosscut (or Skids, for that matter), Jhiaxus, Nightbeat (outside of Million Publishing's Goshooter exclusive), or any of the GDO retoolings (outside of the Cloud line, which is done).

*squeee* Holy crap, 25 centimeters! That's actually slightly taller than MP-10! This is everything I could ever want in an official Hastak Megatron! It'll be even better once someone (and you know someone will) makes articulated hands for it!
Posted by Sabrblade on January 15th, 2015 @ 3:15pm CST
But we've seen how it sizes up to MP-10. It's shorter.Metro Prime wrote:*squeee* Holy crap, 25 centimeters! That's actually slightly taller than MP-10!

For the fans of the imperial system, 25 cm is roughly 10 inches.

Exactly. MP-10 is 9.5 inches, and that comparison photo is tiny, squashed horizontally, and not at a great angle.

It is very possible that HLJ was counting the height added by the treads on the figure's back, which can be raised above the figure's head.Metro Prime wrote:Exactly. MP-10 is 9.5 inches, and that comparison photo is tiny, squashed horizontally, and not at a great angle.

Then again, I still haven't seen Jetfire in person at any store and the new Walmart shelf reset doesn't have spaces for Leaders so I'll certainly have to buy him online.

We dont know if thats the deco Takara will go for since they are using the Hasbro version for pictures right now. For all we know, we might be in a time of reversal where it is Hasbro who has the shinier finishes, which was the case with Jetfire.

If we got a dark grey coloration similar to that of United WFC Megatron, I would be one happy camper.

Shouldnt these be posted on the Generations thread instead? Because this isnt the Takara version.

The listing should be for the TakaraTomy one, but the images are of the Hasbro version, used as placeholders. Common practice.

Yeah, they may be of the Hasbro version, but they're being used to promote the Takara toy.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:william-james88 wrote:Cyberpath wrote:Larger photos from Amazon Japan, click to enlarge:

Sure, but placed above up there without the listing and no other context, it is just a big picture of a toy that is not part of this thread. There is no difference between that post and me posting a bigger picture of Hasbro's Sky Byte.

The listing itself is what's important, and the images we got did come from Takara rather than Hasbro.william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Yeah, they may be of the Hasbro version, but they're being used to promote the Takara toy.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:william-james88 wrote:Cyberpath wrote:Larger photos from Amazon Japan, click to enlarge:

Are we talking about the same thing here^ This post has no listing, just a bigger picture of a toy that should be elsewhere.

It claims to be from Amazon Japan. I took the liberty of locating the listing: LG13 Megatron (really, posting the link is a good habit).

This one features, as they put it, fun everyday drama with Swerve, Phaser, Rattrap, and Trypticon (?!).
The comic has been mirored below for your enjoyment.

:EDIT: ... or not. The yonkoma may feature BW caricatures, but it deals with every aspect of the line's history, so Trypticon is still justified: he "contributed" to Swerve's cartoon appreance by stepping on him.

Yeah, but that was never confirmed. For all we know it couls come from Takara. I was just being a little jokey. We really know nothing at all at this point and a bunch o frumours have not panned out, so I am just having some fun with his appearance here.

Swerve's single major appearance was in the G1 episode "Five Faces of Darkness pt. 5", with a minor appearance in "Forever is long time coming". The first is special because he took part in the Ark's defense, only to get stepped on (rather hurmorously) by Trypticon:
The joke is, in the yonkoma he seems to be a show-off.
Posted by Sabrblade on January 28th, 2015 @ 8:26am CST
Swerve was among the group of Autobots who fought Trypticon in "Five Face of Darkness" when Trypticon destroyed the Ark. Trypticon is included here to show off Phaser's My First Blaster form since Trypticon was the only Decepticon Swerve got to fight in the cartoon, as well as having stepped on Swerve in their fight.william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:So that's why Trypticon's in this.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote::EDIT: ... or not. At any rate, anything pertaining to Transformers history, from:
- the UK comics (Roadbuster & Whirl as Englishmen)
- Beast Machines bodies (Jetstorm and Thrust, much to Silverbolt's and Waspinator's chagrin)
- G1 cartoon (Trypticon vs. Swerve)
- IDW comics (Swerve's singing My First Blaster, poor Phaser)
... to everything else is fair game to be made fun of in these yonkoma.

If you can swap the heads between the two, the Takara one would have an almost perfect G1 screen accurate deco. The reds still a little dark, but the brighter Hasbro one isn't a perfect match either.

Well, Hasbro's is meant to be MTMTE-accurate rather than cartoon-accurate.Wolfman Jake wrote:shajaki wrote:the pic most important to me....

Takara, however, opted for toy-accuracy with theirs.

Yea - the silver highlights on Tailgate (especially on the face) really help the figure.
