It is designed by posting toll comes to highbrow and usually developed ago scourge and released later. But so thought cannot make highbrow wants fans, 2 development and at the same time, attempting to balance both design #TT_TF
ハイブロウとスカージは関節が共通なので変形するしないは別にしてこんな感じに自由に組換えられます。 これを応用してオリジナルの変形ロボットを作ったり、好みの関節の色を選んだりして楽しむのも面白いかと思います。#TT_TF
To transform so highbrow and scourge of the joints are common and are not, like genetically modified free will. I also enjoy the sights and color preference of joint, making the original transform robot by applying this interesting. #TT_TF

Weeeell, there is a bit of an argument there - after all, it means their transformation sequences are generally the same and looks are the biggest change; as a toy, you're basically getting the same thing. But as long as they don't go overboard - like, CW overboard - with how many uses they get out of this mold, I think it'll be fine. Maybe one more use for a certain female Lost Lighter?

If someone can complain these are retools, that is sad. They are very different, including some transformation aspects.

I really want my female Lost Lighter. I would be ok with it if the retooling game is this strong. Things are so different

I think the fandom as whole needs to come up with a new nomenclature for this:
1. Complete revamps that significantly change the figure like Metroplex/Fort Max, Highbrow/Scourge, Chromedome/Dead End, Sky Dive/Air Raid.
2. The pieces fit together differently but a lot is the same like First Aid/Offroad, PMOP/Ultra Magnus, and Springer/Sandstorm.
3. Most of the outer pieces have different details, but it uses the same guts like Dead End/Streetwise, Rook/Swindle and Cyclonus/Silverbolt.
4. New head like Prowl/Streetwise and Blitzwing/Double Dealer.
5. Different paint job like seekers.
I think 3 is remold, 4 is retool, and 5 is repaint, but I don't think 3 and 4 are very good descriptions and and 1 and 2 have no general descriptions. I'm not even sure about grouping a lot of them in 1 and 2. Then you can also get into the places where the transformation is exactly the same like Fireflight/Sky Dive/Offroad. I'd really like to see someone like Yuki's thoughts on it.

1. Shared engineering (though, I'd argue that Metro/Max and Skydive /Air Raid are more reshells instead)kurthy wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Quoting what Diem wrote about this in the Titans Return thread:Diem wrote:I think calling it a retool is a stretch, it looks like the only parts shared are the hips, upper legs, and possibly the waist extender and inner shoulders. Yeah, its more shared engineering between two toys designed at the same time. Its not a retool in any sense since no mold for any piece was retooled.

Its pretty black and white actually. A retool is only a retool is a mold's tooling was chagned, hence the word retool. A brand new part is not a retool. Botcon's 2016 Ravage is not a retool since none of the original mold was changed. Its just a redeco with a new head.
Fort Max is totally a retool of Metroplex, not a revamp, because there are parts (like the legs) where the mold was taken directly from metroplex and changed.
Also a key thing about retools is that they must be based on a pre-existing toy. If they are done at the same time, and preconcieved that way (like these and the CW figures) then its not a retool.
"retool" is the term actually used by the people who design and produce the toys. Only actual physical alterations of an existing tooling qualify as a "retool"
None of these toys' toolings existed for one to be based off the other so they are not retools in any way.
Also Remold is not an actual term.

Is triggehappy a new mould or based off an existing figure too?

Wins just about everything save for price. Better paint apps, less hollow, better articulation (especially in the feet), better sculpt, better head...
Literally everything about him is an improvement over the original mold.

No that's just how they are. Look behind them. That's a lot of emptiness. You rotate them anyway and all those gaps are more visible. People are speculation god bomber armor but who knows.

Haha, I think that is a good example of seeing things through rose coloured glasses since the head isnt changed. We all have biases, I am not immune to that, but its important to remember and thus not look down on other toys.
And I dont find the feet superior to Hasbro's in the least.

Not mistransformed. Its Takara trying to recreate the G1 feet:

Also the plastic color doesn't look as nastily brown like the Hasbro one. That alone is a huge improvement.
Now, one thing I noticed about this version is that he has a striking resemblance to Inferno.

Wish they didn't stick so far into the chest, though. Or that the side panels didn't stick so far out in front of them. It makes his chest look like it has a big open gap in it.Kurona wrote:It's the chest windows, really. They make him.

That "nasty" brown is the color of the original from the 80s. The chrome one that keeps getting posted is the Takara release from 10 years ago.

Yeah just because it's from the 80s, doesn't mean it's pretty. G1 Blaster's slightly brown color on parts of him looks good because it contrasts well with the other colors, and doesn't have too much white and silver to clash with it. PMP on the other hand, is like HALF that cream brown color, and ruins itself with silver paint to clash. Silver paint doesn't always work.

At least for me. And the "orange" on Blaster is actually red. And plus, the yellow is not on TOP on the brownish color, but rather in the middle of a bunch of red. The colors are spread right on Blaster, which I can't say about Optimus.
Just look at the bit of silver on his chest in the middle of a bunch of brown. Don't you agree that this is horribly eye-sore inducing?

Yes a prototype. Not the finished product. Prototypes change all the time. And when was the last time Takara showed something mistransformed? They take that stuff as an insult lol
