From Fracture and Megatronus, to the armor and battle packs, via Overload, Quillfire and Crazybolt - ending up at TAV-50 Hyper Surge Optimus Prime, what looks like a Thunderclash-esque deco on a potentially new mold for the Autobot mentor and leader. Maybe he ripped off Tarn's face and wears it as a mask now.
Yeah, that thing looks like a chest Mini-Con or something like that (like on Liokaiser's members in bot mode) but the one sitting on the ground has a different color.

Not really, this one doesnt have a functional trailer. So its not a fix, just a new version of the same design as the deluxe mold. Speaking of that deluxe, both that toy adn the legion have a better truck mode than this one
Lunatic Prime wrote:In vehicle mode the amount of details and everything let me guess that he's at best a Deluxe/Warrior class figure, but I don't get the price point of $75,99.
Thats not the real price of the toy, you shouldnt judge it by that. Thats just the price americans have to pay if they want to buy from TF Source and not ship him from japan. It has nothing to do with the worth of the toy or how much it cost to make.
The real price is probably the same as any leader figure, so 50$. Has as much if not more detail than the leader seekers, so it sounds fair.

I just judged from the vehicle mode. He reminds me of the new Battle Pack OP. I think robot mode just looks so much detailed because of the vast paint Takara splashes on their versions.
And the price, I know that it's more expensive to import those figures but he doesn't look like a Leader class to me. For that the vehicle mode looks too crappy. But maybe it's an upscaled remolded version of the BP OP.

I think instead its a new mold which just takes hints of previous transformation and engineering. Like all of combiner wars deluxes and every RID optimus Hasbro has done. Like they just looked at old designs and made a new mold based on them instead of actually changing stuff to the physical mold.

Pretty sure its a new mold. Which is odd since I thought TT only made one mold per character in their lines. Anyways for those who were wondering, this is what the chest bird looks like:
Oh and he's currently up for pre-order for 48$US at anime export. Get him before he sells out!

With, possibly, the crappiest alt mode ever - I mean, what? This is a TT product right

Unless it's a Hasbro mold that Takara happened to reveal first.Hellscream9999 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Looks to be a new mold.shajaki wrote:Sorry, I'm really behind on this thread. What mold is this new Prime based on?

And the altmode pic seems to be unpainted, as the robot mode parts visible in altmode appear to lack the painted details that we see painted on the same parts in robot mode.

D-Maximus_Prime wrote:I still think it looks like a tweaked minicon 2-pack Optimus upscaled. the truck mode looks exactly the same
While I agree that it's too early to judge it, I do feel deeply let down (maybe, not sure that's how I feel need some more introspection), as I was immediately struck by how unfinished or rushed the vehicle mode looked; but the bot mode looks gorgeous, wonder how that will tie in with the show (if these do at all, the mini-con launching thing did...)

New mold! But in the same vein of transformation as previous optimus toys like Beast Hunters and the like.

That toy has a way better back, it looks more filled out.

So far I like it.
It's got to be pretty big... BBTS states it weighs 1.4 lbs.
Cool.

Here are the translations for the armors:
Kōtetsu Armor: Steel Armor
Jūryoku Armor: Gravity Armor
Kazan Armor: Volcano Armor
Dengeki Armor: Lightning Armor
Also notice how the Mini-Con names relate to the armor names

It's not unpainted, but they're definitely not painted the same way. If you look just a little above the rear tires where the forearms meet the lower legs you can see the white paint from the bot mode lower legs peeking through. Other difference include the feet in bot mode are gray, but the feet in truck mode are blue and gray. In truck mode the parts the wings attach to are blue, but gray in bot mode. The bird is blue on the figure (which appears to be accurate), but blue and red off the figure. I think the bot mode is closer to the final figure while the truck mode is an earlier test version. Similar to the odd color differences seen in the UW Combaticon set so far.

I'll definitely get the Hasbro version of Thunderhoof. The blue looks so much better.
With Quillfire I am a bit undecided. I like the Hasbro color scheme better but the gold on Takara's looks realy cool and they gave him his symbol. But I'm sure labels will fix that and I can give him some gold and other paint details on my own.
Yeah, I'll stick to Hasbro this time.
