Fort Max would be too big and too expensive. It's a nice fantasy idea to get a 5 foot tall Fort Max but it's just not in the cards. This is the choice that makes me think this whole list is BS because there's no way this one would happen.
Beast Convoy seems like an obvious choice at some point with the natural progression of the line, especially if Beast Megatron accompanies him. While it seems like an obvious choice, I don't think Beast Convoy is a good 30th Anniversary figure.
While I'd love to see Masterpiece versions of Star Saber and Dai Atlas, I think I'd like to see their G1 toys reissued first. I also don't think either of those characters are recognizable enough to the general public to be good choices.
I'm not sure how Lio Convoy and Big Convoy got on this list. I love those guys but they would be way down the list of figures that need the Masterpiece treatment. Plus you can't do Lio Convoy or Big Convoy before you do Beast Convoy. Two more choices on this list that I think were there just to pad out the list.
As for Car Robots Fire Convoy, this could be a really, really nice toy if they did a super realistic fire truck. I think this would be the 2nd choice I'd put money on. Give me a Masterpiece God Magnus that can actually combine with Fire Convoy and I think many of us would be super excited about this. However, the size comes into mind again because of how large the originals were, so that makes me skeptical about this possibility.
Micron Legends, Superlink and Galaxy Force Convoys are way too recent of figures/characters to get a Masterpiece treatment. I'd be really disappointed if Superlink Grand Convoy got the treatment, because, well, it's not the greatest toy or concept for Transformers. If I wanted toys like that, I'd be into Voltron (which I'm not into). Galaxy Convoy is the only one of these 3 that I'd be interested in seeing a Masterpiece treatment of, but again, the toy is too recent and the original one is a pretty awesome toy to begin with. And like the Car Robots Fire Convoy, I'd be concerned about the size of this toy if it's truly a Masterpiece.
Super God Ginrai / Powermaster Optimus Prime is the only one of these that I can truly get behind for a 30th Anniversary product.

>>> 99% are Optimus Prime
Seriously, are Transformers fans autistic?

most of the list is BS and I sure hope it won't be a beastformer.
So I'd put my money on Car Robot Fire Convoy or Armada Prime...
but of course, no Jazz yet

Hey, I do take offense to that as I have autism myself. And the poll only had those (Japanese) Leader types as options, we did not have a hand in that. Leader types sell, you know?
Personally, I'd have picked Star Saber or Galaxy Convoy / Cybertron Optimus Prime, simply because they look the best, plus have the best ways of combining with future figures (Victory Leo *hint hint*)

I think this is just Takara's bone that they're throwing to the long time fans from all generations of Transformers who are still around, regardless of what their favorite series is, providing them with the opportunity to select the MP leader of their choice, and whoever has the most votes wins. I don't think for a second that any of these choices are there just to "pad out the list". You guys are thinking about this way too deeply. It is a 30th anniversary fans' choice and may the character/series with the most fans win!
The winning figure/character *could* (and should IMO) play a role in what Takara decides to do later with the MP line, particularly once they're either done with G1 or decide to expand the line to go beyond it.

I can see most of the Primes being done, but Fort max would cost more than most of us are willing to part with.

Personally hoping Armada Optimus gets MP treatment, as that figure needs it badly. The combined mode is a complete brick, outside of shoulder, elbows, and head articulation. But I'd love to see Star Saber get it too, because I like the design and concept of his Brainmaster-ception gimmick. Dai Atlas just seems too obscure in my opinion. Zone only had what, one episode on television and a small collection of manga?
Can't see them doing Fortress Maximus, even if he was as big as a Leader figure.
Beast Wars Optimus Primal, I also wouldn't mind, but not necessary. Same to the two Japanese Beast Era ones.
Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime doesn't really need it, he's good already.
Meh to Energon and Cybertron. Energon because... well, he's a meh design. Cybertron, like Robots in Disguise, is fine just as is.

You underestimate Star Saber's high popularity over in Japan.Seibertron wrote:While I'd love to see Masterpiece versions of Star Saber and Dai Atlas, I think I'd like to see their G1 toys reissued first. And last we heard, Star Saber was in first place in this poll, And Dai Atlas was in third (Micron Densetsu Convoy was in second).
Simple. This poll was to give every single Cybertron/Autobot Supreme Commander from 1985 to 2005 a fair shot at this, and since they count as their respective series' Supreme Commanders, they qualify.Seibertron wrote:I'm not sure how Lio Convoy and Big Convoy got on this list.
Micron Densetsu Convoy the one that would need this treatment the most due to how the original Super Base toy was so limited in its articulation. The original Galaxy Convoy is so good a toy that it doesn't really need an MP, and Super Link Grand Convoy, while not perfect, was also decent enough to not really warrant an MP.Seibertron wrote:Micron Legends, Superlink and Galaxy Force Convoys are way too recent of figures/characters to get a Masterpiece treatment. Technically it was one OVA episode on VHS (and on DVD years later), one manga chapter, and just as many story pages as its predecessors and successors.Mindmaster wrote:Dai Atlas just seems too obscure in my opinion. Zone only had what, one episode on television and a small collection of manga?

Agreed.
Please be Armada Optimus Prime, please be Armada Optimus Prime, please be Armada Optimus Prime...

To me, that would be in line with what Masterpiece is all about - a faithful reincarnation of G1 concepts with modern engineering and a streamlined (or reasonable) scale.

There's also no G-2 Convoy, G-2 Battle Convoy, BW Metals Convoy, BW Metals Powered Convoy, or BWR Convoy.Neurie wrote:Considering this is a list of Japanese leader/Supreme class, its odd there is no Star Convoy.
My guess as to why this is that they don't want multiples of the same character, but the year-based formula of the Micron Trilogy gave them no choice but to include all three of those in this if they still wanted some leaders mainstream enough to represent 2004 and 2005.

Given the other releases from the 30th anniversary line, my money is on Optimus Primal, or Armada Optimus. Those two make the most sense to me.
The one I want the most is RiD Optimus, though.

Also, Star Saber's TF wiki page is somewhat hilarious. I also appreciate how he has a passing resemblance to Superion.

What is this statement based on? It seems like conjecture. I've never heard that Star Saber was "ridiculously popular" with the Japanese fandom before. He's one of my favorites, but he hasn't received a lot of love in the past 25 years since his introduction other than a Robot Masters figure, a Mega SCF figure, an SCF figure, and a Kabaya figure.

Well, he is supposedly leading the poll. Couldn't that lead be from his popularity? Different tastes from both sides of the Pacific. Look at Hotrod, a lot of non Japanese fans hate him and that bugger gets like tons of versions.

Tronus_Rex wrote:Planet-cybering Headmaster Fortress Maximus is my 1st & 2nd choice!!! After that would be god-jinrai (Powermaster Prime), a good candidate but still a distant 3rd.
However, why is there no Ultra Magnus based on MP-10?
Well I have some good news for you, [I may be totaly wrong as it's unusual to know so many of the up and coming MP figures, usualy we know one, 2 if we are lucky and usualy that's a repaint] you have overlooked, that there are several up andcoming new releases, aswell as several repaints, there is Wheeljack, Bumblebee, and yes Ultra Magnus. SO far no prototype figures have surfaced to give us a glimpse, but aparently these are all confirmed furure releases andare already up for pre order.
Back to your choice on 1st and 2nd. I hope you and anyone who actualy votes and has a real influence on what is released will reconsider Fortress Maximus as a contender. I think it would make a great release, but there are other figures that should come before, and in the list he should be the last out of the G1 figures. My reason being is that the MP line is a chance for characters that never met there potential first time round. Also let sface it, FOrtress Maximus doesn't need the MP treatment to transform, as his alt modes are totaly fanatasy. Yeah victory leo is a robotic cat, but there are still proportion restrictions etc.
Fortress Maximus also doesn't have the best robot mode, IMO, and Your next choice of God Ginrai aka Powermaster Prime, had an awful toy robot mode, and we know from the artwork that if he was done right could have an amzing robot form. The recent release of Gnerations Metroplex has MP posability and has the scale, so until the characters the are more deserving of the MP treatment, surelt Metroplex can fill the space for MP Maximus.
There are some on the List such as Galaxy Force Prime, which is a nice figure but Powermaster Prime is the inspiration for that figure and Galaxy Force Prime has no right to get the MP treatment before PM Prime. ANd there are some figures that even with the MP treatment will still be rubbish such as Armada prime, how could they make an MP figure of him before even Galavtron. We need a JetFire and a SKyFiire, as there are definently 2 moulds there, and a shockwave, as this would sort out the mould rights problems, if they have there own official version and they could base the designon the anime and comic stylings to create and overcome any similarity design issues.

Seriously, I get why this list is what it is (thank you, Sabr! ), but I will KILL someone if another Optimus variation gets made into an MP! We already have had how many MP Optimi made??? Shouldn't they start on BB and his myriad of clones? I'm hoping for a chocolate swirl BB with nuts.
But seriously, I'm saying we should prevent a tragedy and NOT do another Optimus variation. It's not to say those aren't some good choices (well, the ones where he's NOT a truck), but come on...
It's pretty obvious it's going to be Star Saber, and I.... ehhh, don't care. I'd like to see Fort Max, just for the inevitable disappointment: some peoples ASSUMES he'd be in scale, but my money is on the opposite: he'd be shrunken down to Optimus height, just to get an affordable price on him (as others have mentioned/alluded).
SXS Not-Blurr looks/sounds better to me.
This announcement of an impending announcement? Just reminds me of how slow MP development and production is in general, and is that really the best idea, Takara? To remind fans of how long they have to wait? I understand quality takes time... when you have 5 employees working on it. Seriously hire a couple more guys and get this stuff organized!

As Saberblade called it......he's insanely popular in Japan. American opinions don't amount to cr@p over the domestic (Japanese) views.
Hopefully this is translated into reality (but then if Saber is made then Victory Leo can"t be far behind?), this may mark a ground breaking trend for a Masterpiece power up fig for the latter.

1. The poll is based on the Autobot Commanders from Headmasters to Cybertron. There would've been no way to vote for other characters. Besides, why celebrate the Transformers' 30th anniversary with a character that could get MP treatment later on when it could be celebrated by making an MP of a Convoy?
2. Star Saber is insanely popular in Japan. It was virtually no contest, he's that popular. And I don't blame them. He has an awesome, streamlined design, in my opinion.
