It appears the rumors are true, Takara will be releasing Classics Ultra Magnus in the Asian market. Earlier in the month Seibertron member Primeultimus reported purchasing what was assumed to be an unreleased prototype of Henkei Ultra Magnus, which sparked quite a debate regarding the figure's authenticity. Since then Seibertron member 千代爸爸 has also reported purchasing one of these figures off TaoBao, and has went on to post some in-hand images of the figure (see below).

Now site sponsor Robotkingdom has confirmed that Takara will be releasing this figure in the Asian market late September/early October. As you can see the figure sports a new deco and chrome. They have also posted a pre-order, the figure is priced at $67.90. A great opportunity for those who missed out on the Target exclusive version!

*Full body in white colour, different colour with the Hasbro version, more G1 color accurate!

About damn time Takara, how long has it been since Henkei started? It's a shame it won't look good in City Commander. Too much white will show in it. Though, I wonder if Fansproject are rubbing their hands together and planning a rerelease of the armor. Maybe even a new limited run in slightly different colors.

O, I prefer chicken myself.

I did have doubts at first, I admit, but with TakaraTomy confirming it, well... Color me surprised. I wonder what brought them to this. I already have the Hasbro one, so I see no need to get him.

BTW I thought Asia was Hasbro Asia territory.

His being too white matters not. The armor cover him anyway and the lower extremities is just as it should be just like the G1 version.

Money. Did you see that price tag of almost $68? I'm glad I have the original release already. Ignoring the price tag the paint is awesome. I like it.

only thing I can see as maybe being a problem is that his thighs are silver. the hasbro one has white thighs which make the CC armour look more G1. so it's actually not a case of "too much white will show", but quite the opposite. Still, the KO Magnus I have has the armour sitting all wobbly. Hopefully this one will fit it better.

Im happy with the Hasbro one. I got one fairly cheap with no guns and the KO guns matched perfectly.

Takara superior. :APPLAUSE:

Hasbro inferior.

Six years in the past, Takara made these toys all right. But they let Hasbro be the first to release them as Classics, but their way (wrong details, neon Megatron). Two years later, Takara wanted to show Hasbro that their doing them the wrong way. Luckily, Takara made these as Henkei figurines but this time, the G1 way.

Another reason why Takara is MUCH more better than Hasblow.

High hopes for UM's own trailer.

Im sittin here lookin up at my authentic city commander armor with henkei optimus inside and I just cant imagine him looking any better. (dont care about the truck mode)
The red arms look so much better than the white, he doesnt look like he's wearing an AC slater shirt showing off white abs because the red blends in, his legs are silver so his kneepads pop more and the dark blue works fine and is hardly noticable. Plus the red gun looks better than the white one with all that silver trim. of course the silver machine gun looks cooler than a black one.
Its cool that asians can get a classics magnus though. seems more like dreamwave style with the white legs. I dont see it looking very good in the armor though.
anyone rockin their magnus with henkei prime? back me up on how sweet it looks! :BOT:

Like you are going to look at the based figure with the Power Armor on. Its the armor that makes Magnus.............well Magnus. Btw, if you own a G1 version, just look at how the all white figure works.
Re: Takara to Release Classics Ultra Magnus in the Asian Market (1414096)
Posted by MGrotusque on August 27th, 2012 @ 11:50pm CDT
I think this mold looks spectacular painted white! I really like it a lot. I do think, however, that i like the Hasbro version just a tinsy bit better with the blue legs but i certainly won't say that i "dont't" like this total white one. Especially because of G1 accuracy.

I'm glad i have the Hasbro version already but i'd be tempted to buy this "naked  " Magnus to stand beside my FP armoured up one.

68 bucks is a little steep though but not too bad i guess. Not including shipping of course.
Re: Takara to Release Classics Ultra Magnus in the Asian Market (1414154)

The arm kibble completely spoils this mold for me. I do not own one and do not regret not owning one. I will easily pass on this one. My only regret regarding this mold was that I skipped the 2-pack with skywarp and I do regret not getting skywarp when I had the chance.
Re: Takara to Release Classics Ultra Magnus in the Asian Market (1414155)
Posted by fenrir72 on August 28th, 2012 @ 8:28am CDT
Well, the mold IS a shell former of sorts hence the kibble. The things you have to pay to make him look like a truck at the same time.GF Convoy on the other hand......now that's how you do a modern Convoy!

Not that I have anything to complain about this mold either, oh wait, no 'stacks while in 'bot mode

Hmm.... Only just noticing how very white he is. Heaven's Warrior Magnus?

That armour breaking off of him looks bland enough that I hope they're not bothering to produce it.

Well it's officially ... A big fat hoax.

For those still believing this is official, let me say, 1 the pic picture is amateurish at best.

Takara would never use a 3rd party item to promote its toys.

Takara has never used the term Classics. Heck not even Hasbro used it. It's a fan term.

Combined with All the cloudiness surrounding th figure, I'm calling it a big fat, ugly, and worthless hoax.

1) Why wouldn't they? They KNOW it'll sell, and they have every reason to produce it. What's Fansproject going to do? Sue them? Somehow, I think not.
2) Okay? So they can start. Nobody used the term "Generations" before 2008/2009. Everyone already calls it the "Classics ____" mold, so why not use a term that's engraved into the fandom?
3) There's...really no cloudiness anymore. I mean, it was under debate at first, but there's no reason to doubt the authenticity at this point.

Those armor pieces actually look like the G1 toy, not the FP City Commander

Overcracker wrote:Takara has never used the term Classics. Heck not even Hasbro used it. It's a fan term.

And Fan terms can be made official. Like "kibble" and "faux-part" are now used by Hasbro's design team. Besides, we may import a lot of Japanese figures, but the opposite has also happened: Japanese importing Hasbro figures, and using our terminology as well. Don't underestimate our influence!

Fans project city commander armor is Flying off of him in the pic.

Why on earth would they use an American term for an Asian Exclusive (which by the way, Asian exclusives are a Hasbro thing not Takara) where nobody calls it that or knows the term?

Too many inconsistencies... Call me a scheptic but, I don't buy it.

Robotkingdom has already confirmed that this is an official release. These images come from an official website that was recently set up to promote all the new Asian market exclusives. The images look similar to the promo images e-Hobby used to promote Stepper and Artfire, and that's not FansProject CC armor in the image, it's G1 Ultra Magnus armor. As far as the Classics terminology, this whole Asian exclusive market is a new deal, they seem to be doing whatever they want.

Granted your SIX years late to the party but it's cool bro :p

The Magnus is sick, Is it better then the U.S. version?

Too early to say. Personally, myself, I always found
classic magnus more eye catching and striking then
classic prime. The white just oozed detail & win.

I find it utterly depressing how many people on a dedicated transformers forum don't recognize the 80s G1 Ultra Magnus armor. That's the armor flying off in the promo picture, for those don't recognize it. It's not Fansproject's City Commander (which really does not look much like the 80s toy), nor is it an entirely new armor. I'm pretty sure it's just supposed to be a reference to the fact that the Classics/Generations line is supposed to be "neo G1".

As for the use of the term "classics", Asia is not somehow unaware of the fact that the line is well known as that in the US. Go look on Ebay at all the sellers in China, Hong Kong, Japan, and other Pacific/Asian regions properly labeling TFs as "Classics". The only thing I find odd is the mix of Classics and TakaraTomy being mentioned at the same time. Most "Asia" (not Japan) items are Hasbro, not TT.

No, that's "Classic Ultra Magnus" spelled in Japanese. To be exact it says:

"Ku-ra-si-kku U-ru-to-ra Ma-gu-na-su"

There is no armor.

Sits with shotgun while on Troll Watch Duty.

Seriously, incase you havent noticed how the two armours are different, think of this, the G1 chest piece is somewhat thin, FP CC chest piece is bulky.

Look at picture, see chest piece? Good. Now, chest piece thin or bulky?

Anyone who says that chest piece is bulky, then... :BOOM: :BANG_HEAD:

How can anyone confuse G1 Ultra Magnus armor with Fansprojects City Commander? Look at the bad head, the full chest guard and the long shoulder stacks. That is the G1 armor. Anyone else hopeful that by including the armor in this picture, we might be getting a new Masterpiece Ultra Magnus with armor sometime in the future?
