To jog your memory:
Wave 1:
Ghost of Starscream
Optimus Prime
Bombshell
Banzai-tron
(All G1)
While the next two waves will be:
Wave 2:
Megatron
Grimlock (dino mode)
Bludgeon (pretender)
Tracks
(Again all G1 based)
Wave 3:
Tarn (IDW)
Megatron G2
Aligatorcon (G1)
Wreck-Gar (G1)
So yes, Tarn will be getting immortalised in plastic once again, allowing those who would like an official representation of him (if just non-transforming) on their shelves.
Will you be picking up any of these?

I don't think Needler does, but Razor-Sharp maybe. The originals' transformation wasn't much really, just an extension swinging out and the gun attached for the first wave including Banzai-tron, and swing out the head as a helmet for the EU wave including Bombshell.

The Ultimates line in general seems to be kinda inkonsistent?
The MOTU stuff kinda look like the original Matty Collector Classics, the Thundercats seem to be in the same style.
The Conan ones look like they're trying to be realistic, but have weird muscles. The TMNT look like giant versions of the original toys just made more ugly.

I hope Tracks is also an Action Master, but given Banzaitron and Bombshell have that specifically called out and he doesn't it seems highly unlikely.

For the TMNT line, they could only recreate the toy aesthetic since NECA has the rights to the animation look. As you said, some of those figures look ugly.

Do they want 3rd party to continue eating their lunch? The irony is sick considering this was a character in comics who constantly ran through transformation cogs. And then there's the price for this line..... If some of you love it, fine, enjoy!
To me it feels like HasTak is painting themselves in the corner by releasing the same G1 characters from Seasons 1-3 over and over again, while I can name a good thirty characters that haven't seen any CHUG love in the past 15 years except for maybe that overpriced BotCon mess.
Other than that BW movie what else does Hasbro have in store fore retail two years from now? I mean other than 20 more OP's Bee's, Megatron's and Starcreams...

If rumours are correct, possibly UT based figures, which will please a lot of people.

From the description:
Banzai-Tron comes with his Action Master partner Razor-Sharp, and his Photon Neutralizer that combine to form his massive Semi-Automatic Gun!
They don't mention Needler being able to connect to Bombshell, but it does have a peg on the underside and Bombshell has a peg hole on his back that Banzaitron doesn't have, pluss Needler seems to be segmented in the right spot. I'll be surprised if it can't connect.
Ended up pre-ordering Banzaitron, these don't come out until sometime between December and February 2022 so I've got time to save even if I think they're a bit over priced.

I ordered Bludgeon, but Megatron is nice for those who don't have MP or RED figures, or the WfC accessories set.

bludgeon looks to be the only must from the wave for me, fingers crossed they can do a deathshead or hasbro steps up to do one at some point.

Here's a what's in that wave:
Bludgeon:
Master of the Cybertronian martial art of Metallikato, Bludgeon is a highly skilled, ferocious Decepticon warrior. If you’re not familiar with Bludgeon, he’s a leader of the Mayhem Attack Squad, which should give you some insight into his character. This highly-articulated Transformers ULTIMATES! figure of Bludgeon is inspired by the vintage toy and comics, standing 8.5” in his helmet and featuring interchangeable heads and hands along with an assortment of hand-to-hand combat weapons ready to mete out punishment upon any Autobots that cross him. There’s also a comic-inspired wire bundle that plugs into the bottom of Bludgeon’s head, as if it has been ripped off! You’re not seriously going to pass on the opportunity to add a martial arts Transformer to your ULTIMATES collection, are you?
Accessories:
2 interchangeable heads
Toy-inspired head
Comic-inspired head
6 interchangeable hands
Head wire bundle (comic-inspired)
Katana & sheath
Wakizashi & sheath
Tank blaster
Ion blaster (toy-inspired)
Turret shield (toy-inspired)
Grimlock (Dino):
“Me Grimlock!” One of the most powerful and feared of all Autobots, the only challenge beyond Grimlock’s capabilities is basic pronoun usage, but grammatical shortcomings aside, the Dinobot leader can go toe-to-toe with even the mightiest of Decepticon foes on the battlefield. This 9” highly-articulated Transformers ULTIMATES! figure of Grimlock in Dino Mode features G1 accurate paint deco and an arsenal of accessories that even include his time as a waiter. One more note we saved for the end, you’ll also get Autobot Wheelie, his friend! He can ride on Grimlock’s back, ready to go on the attack! Action, not diplomacy, is Grimlock’s forte, so in his spirit, just add this mighty warrior to your Transformers collection!
Accessories:
6x interchangeable hands
Mind-transfer helmet
Soft goods waiter apron
Serving tray
6x drinkware
Fish
King Crown
Wheelie
Megatron:
“Peace through Tyranny!” Megatron is the big bad of the Transformers universe for a reason. Actually, many, many reasons. Tremendous strength, military acumen, and ruthless aggression meant to inspire terror are just a few of his “finer” qualities. This 8” highly-articulated Transformers ULTIMATES! figure of Megatron features G1 accurate paint deco and interchangeable heads and hands. With an arsenal of other accessories, this figure is every bit as well equipped as you’d expect the leader of the fearsome Decepticons to be. Adding this Megatron ULTIMATES! figure to your collection is as inevitable as the fear he instills in his foes!
Accessories:
3x interchangeable heads
Regular head
Power-hungry head
Head with mind control helmet
6x interchangeable hands
Hand holding Energon cube
Anti-matter chest
Kremzeek
Chemical flask
Laser sword
Blaster
Pearl of Bahoudin
2x energy mace
Tracks:
Tracks is totally awesome! Just ask him, he’ll tell you! Considering that his non-robot transformations are a sports car AND a jet plane, it’s kinda hard to argue with him. The Transformers ULTIMATES! figure of Tracks features G1 accurate paint deco and interchangeable heads and hands, measuring in at 7.5” in height when fully equipped with his wings and missiles. With an arsenal of weapons and other accessories inspired by both the cartoon and the vintage toy, this Autobot diva is equipped to the nines! Love to hate him or hate to love him, either way, he’s a key member of the Autobots- and seeing that he once risked his life defending San Francisco, he’s near and dear to Super7’s heart.
Accessories:
2 x interchangeable heads
Regular head
Evil Alien Robot Head
6x interchangeable hands
Tank (vintage toy inspired)
Ion blaster (vintage toy inspired)
Ion blaster (cartoon inspired)
Blaster boombox
What do you think of these action figures? Any plans to get some?
Please leave a comment!

Bludgeon's 8.5" is about as tall as MP Starscream to the top of his head so I might stick him (and Banzaitron) with MPs. Megatron and Tracks I have no use for, though I might get Megatron if he's on sale.

If some 3P smart-ass make a mini-tank Bludgeon compatible with that turret accessory, we will basically have a MP Bludgeon! One more reason to get him.

That figure is 9" tall. So unless Bludgeon was a freaking GIANT, he'll be right at home in the current Masterpiece display. So in a CHUG display, he may be way too big.

Completely understandable. Especially because these figures are the price of a Leader.

Anyway, he's the only one I would want, on account of him not transforming.
Also, how would this look, standing amongst existing "classics" MOTU figures by Super 7? They should do so of the Pretender Shells like that AND give them how compartments too.

It's mostly because there was never such a big and detailed OFFICIAL Bludgeon figure before, while there's Megs aplenty. Still, if one want to have fun recreating scenes without having to pay 300$ for MP-36, this Megs is a no-brainer.

Yeah, I get that. I just found at amusing to consider that an official Megatron could be interpreted as slyly advocating drunkenness to children - or us poor impressionable collectors!

Well, that scene in that episode was indeed doing that. I think that's why IDW referenced a similar scene with (Kup?) getting drunk on Kreemzeek's special brew cans?
Regardless, some of the G1 Autobots advertised or alluded to advertisements of alcohol (Jazz's "Martini"), tobacco (Mirage's "Gittannes") , etc.

Not that subjective when the figures are expensive, comes with a ton of little parts, and sold online only by specialised geek stores.

Well, even ignoring the fact they're $55 made-to-order figures only available at sites that sell pretty much exclusively to adult collectors...
if we look at the outer box for one of their TMNT Ultimates figures:

Yup. Even if those would be a BOTCON set made exclusively out of Rescue Bots molds, ironically.

The problem for me, is I don't care about any of those accessories... Not a single one.
Even the extra dino hands are unnecessary.
I know those aren't images of the real products, but that little Wheelie almost looks like he is one molded piece of plastic, and another one that's stuck in a sitting pose... Maybe the knees bend? But it sure doesn't look like the hip joints are articulated... It looks like the shoulders swivel, but I wouldn't doubt if the head doesn't.
Similar to R.E.D. Megatron, I'd have to find this on a really big sale to buy it.
Hell, even at $30 I'm not sure this would be worth it.
I like the overall look of Megatron, but his head is a bit large, and I wish there was black outline all the way around the eyes.
I don't like either of the alternate heads, but what's maybe more bothersome is there looks to be very limited articulation at the hips; the second image shows a render that very looks cheated-- his left leg is somehow outside of the black pelvis piece, which isn't even possible.
Then look at his right shoulder... That also doesn't look possible. How is the very top of the shoulder gone? It's somehow disappeared into the upper torso??
I get these are 7.5"+ in height, but for non-converting figures, these look to have really limited articulation.
And these are $55 each?
For someone who doesn't mind non-transforming figures, these are way overpriced for what they are and what they lack.

Lemme point you out toward FIGMA...

If by "new to this hobby" you mean "don't collect anime figures", then yes.
A major difference is that these Super 7 figures seem to have substantially less detail and articulation.

It's a style. And they are WAY bigger and massive, plus the number of accessories is pretty big. So the price is right.
But whatever, there's a golden rule that we ALL abide by: the things we don't like or that don't interest us will ALWAYS be "too expensive" no matter the price. ¯\_( ͡°ヮ ͡°)_/¯
Posted by Jeddostotle7 on August 1st, 2021 @ 9:17pm CDT
Super7's figures are made in really low quantities compared to retail lines, or even some other more limited collector lines. Probably less than 10,000 pieces of each figure, if they're in the same range as Mezco stuff. When you're doing stuff at that low of quantity, you don't get the savings that come from economies of scale, so even if it's something that could be priced at like $30-35 and still be profitable if it were being made in the high 10s of thousands, at this small of a production run the materials etc. costs them more per figure to make it, so they have to price it substantially higher to actually make a profit.

Anytime profit is involved, there's too much gray area to say "the price is right".
And the exact opposite can be said; if you like and have interest in something, "it's worth it" no matter the price.
At any rate, it can also be stated with as much validity that all of this stuff is overpriced.
I'd also say there are plenty of times where someone may not be interested in a figure (even to the point of "not liking it"), and that doesn't automatically then mean they think it's overpriced.

I think Tarn will eventually go to the Cyberverse shelf, he scales better with them it seems than the MMC one, and I want Nickel for the Scavengers, so at this point, we only need a Fulcrum to complete that set!
Posted by Emerje on December 1st, 2021 @ 8:31pm CST
Meanwhile we never got that easy Titans Return Skullsmasher repaint into Alligaticon, the misassembled monsters made from Optimus Prime's parts from the G1 cartoon episode "City of Steel". This will be our first official Alligaticon figure, but he'll also include Prime's severed head, the tower Prime's arm was mounted to, and a Decepticon battle taxi, bet you thought we'd never get a figure of that!
The wave wraps up with less obscure G2 Megatron featuring both his G1 and G2 canons, extra hands, swappable blue and gray faces, a bunch of hands and many weapons straight out of the G2 comic. Then there's Wreck-Gar who comes with his cartoon and toy heads, cartoon and toy axes, Energon treats, a mini TV for Earth broadcasts, wax and cloth for detailing Ultra Magnus, gun wheel shields.
Ultimates wave 3 is expected to be out third quarter of 2022 and cost around $55 each. You can pick these up and just about any of our site sponsors. Big thanks to Seibertronians D-Maximal_Primal via email and AcademyofDrX on the Energon Pub Forums for letting us know.
