Then maybe this'll have its price reduced by 80% after about 4 months on the shelves too. Not that it even went quite that low at every Target.EagleTron wrote:If this Grimlock turns out to be anything like that Awesome Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Ultimate Predaking that's sitting on my shelf rite now, then I'm all in on it.
I'm picturing this being something akin to Spike the Imaginext dinosaur a few years back: so much electronics and interactivity that there might not be room for a transformation, but preschoolers will go nuts for it come Christmas.

If it becomes a shelf walmer than that's to bad for collectors and for anyone who passed it up because of their opinion or liking. But if its something like beast fire Predaking then I personally would like it. Not for value but maybe for some toy role play, stop motion and to look nice on my shelf.
Oh, In conclusion, don't be fooled by a figure being on clearance thinking that makes it a not good toy. There are some toys that are currently going for at least 100 $ that we're once on clearance for 20 $ such as Air Attack Optimus Primal and Cybertron Metroplex and Cybertron Menosor.

Sorry if I came across more sarcastic than intended, it's just that I finally bought that toy two days ago when I saw it hit 12-and-change, and it's the best deal I've seen since the PRID Vehicons hit 5 Below, so I couldn't resist pointing it out when you mentioned it. They're going fast too. The Construct Bot Op vs. Meg set is a good one I bought twice before seeing down to $6.24 yesterday. I know some of the best hang around long enough to hit the bargain bins, so I wait n' scavenge n' troop build.EagleTron wrote:Oh, In conclusion, don't be fooled by a figure being on clearance thinking that makes it a not good toy.
But I'm not sure this'll be as collector-desirable as that Predaking, because it sounds like the action features in the name will be all the toy actually does, and the price will reflect size, motorized functions, and durability for preschool play. Just a hunch. Not complaining, because it'll do my heart good to see a Grimlock that big reigning as
tyrant of the toddler-aisle.

Go one older:
But I can also see this being an Imaginext-like dino toy as well. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

If you just said that you bought 60 $ Beast Fire Predaking for only 13 $ I would have to see that in order to believe that.

Sorry my digital camera's still missing, or I could back that up immediately. And at that price, they've already disappeared from many Targets. I'm gonna' canvas the Garden City/Livonia/Farmington stores in a big circle tomorrow to make sure none of the other Preds Rising figures have been clearanced too; it seems to be just BF PKing and that Ultimate Op vs. Megs set that's still $35 elsewhere (the legion vs. sets were clearanced around Christmas), but the prices actually vary from store to store, on the tags and under scanners, so it's got me wondering. At one Target it was tagged and scanned for 17 something, another had them tagged $22 but they scanned for $12+ anyway.EagleTron wrote:If you just said that you bought 60 $ Beast Fire Predaking for only 13 $ I would have to see that in order to believe that.
This isn't the first time either: back in '99, 2 Targets had a $1.50 difference in TM2 Blackarachnia's price, no sale or clearance involved. I'm surprised that situations like the Animated Sunstorm and Shockwave snafu don't happen more often.
But back on topic, if this is a race set, cars going over and through robot dinos' would make a bit more sense than the two above examples with organic carnosaurs, so I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of that. Maybe Bayniverse Sludge will come into existence for the sole purpose of crapping out other TFs! The mind boggles...

Yeah our words might be irrelevant because this is what it seems to ba a race track set which would be great for kids and maybe even collectors also. But I think I saw that there was a leader sized Grimlock in the works so then we could see about how that shapes up.

I live in Houston, TX area and got my Beast Fire Pedaking for $17...My younger bro saw it at his Target for $12, so it's out there.... Might need to look somewhere other than the usual spot if they already reset their planogram in the Toy area.
I picked up the $60 OP at Christmas on Amazon for $16, so I am pretty happy with my bargain hunting

If so, why do I see a pic of Optimus riding Grimlock like a cheap mechanical horse at a grocery store?
Gee...I am shocked he didn't keep this word.

remember the supreme ROTF Devastator? The price was hefty too, and the transformation was pure crap...
I just Hope Grimlock won't turn out to be one gigantic toy with a crappy transformation...

judging by premium first edition AOE prime, a figure that's geared towards collectors.. this line is going to completely outright suck.
if they can't get a leader class figure to deal with kibble better.. i can't imagine how awful smaller, even more simple figures are going to be. it's sad.. i hope first edition prime isn't indicative of the entire line.. but if they think collectors are going to get psyched for this line because of that figure.. hasbro's margins are going to suffer even more.
i've said it before.. but, look at how horribly the superman line did.. same with iron man 3, and the new non black star wars figures.. it's terrible. .. then take a look at the thor dark world figures.. i can't even find them anymore, the wave only had two different thor figures, and they're both based on looks from the movie. those figures sold well, captain america seems to be doing well.
quality and diversity is what people want. people want good representations of what they see in the movies.. they don't want a prime with an entire truck on his back.
i loved G1 when i was a kid because the figures looked, for the most part, how they did on tv. and as bad as some people think the unicron trilogy was.. most of the toys looked like they were plucked right from the screen.. i don't like that hasbro is now compromising that.
as it is, there are quite a few people who don't like the designs of the movie transformers to begin with, then there are some people who like them but don't love them.. now, do you think hasbro is going to attract those people with terrible toys of designs they're not fully sold on to begin with?..
i guess only time will tell.
i just REALLY hope takara produces some AOE dual model kits.. DMK is probably my favorite item out of all of the movie merchandise.
