And even more action awaits, when you use their Combiner powers to become a gigantic super robot.

Kind of similar. Difference is we get a decent cartoon to go with the toyline.

- Energon: The show was not good, but the five-bot combiner toys were full action figures
- RID 2015: The show is good, but the five-bot combiner toys are not full action figures

But they are pretty cheap - they only cost a bit more than a Activator combiner does after all.

Tbh, I prefer it that way. The toys are perfect for young'uns (my little brother loves his Beeside) and I find the show fun and entertaining. I focus my collecting on Generations toys, so I'm not overly concerned about RiD's toys. I did buy Ratchet a couple months ago and he's pretty cool, and I have little Legion Underbite who is freakin' adorable.

You know, it just hit me. History has repeated itself for that first bullet point (a bad cartoon with good toys), but with Combiner Wars instead of Energon.Nexus Knight wrote:Sabrblade wrote:The tables have turned this time.Nexus Knight wrote:Kurona wrote:Come to think of it, does this remind anyone of the Energon combiners? Carnivius_Prime wrote:Is these small Legends class things or the normal size toy? Cos it looks far worse than the original G1 set. And the blatant mold re-use in it's own team is really lazy.
You be the judge, we have a bunch of pics of them at the show

The mold reuse within the same team only solidifies the connection with Energon, except there's also minor retooling on the heads, and spoiler in Dragstrip's case. That's one step up

Thank Primus! Was afraid I'd be sacrificing the entire price of a TR leader to experiment with a new, wilder concept. I actually wonder if these are going to be like PCC 'biners since the limbs look a bit, well, awkward.

They will be as simple as the crash combiners we have right now, no need to compare them to anything else. And plus PCC only hanged from vehicle to limb, no robot mode, so we cant compare em.

Oh wow, that is a stark difference.
Too bad the limb bots aren't any better.

Just found at Target in CT. The packaging datestamp is 70161, the same as the plate-less version on the pegs with him.
It's a new addition to the plastic of his face.
The ring pattern on the scanning sticker is also different.

Fun figure!
When you attach Laserbeak, his side guns pop out.
Also, when you roll him in vehicle mode the side guns go back and forth. Very cool!
Not much in the articulation department but...he does have some knee and arm bends.

They are all different - I don't know how different but I've had to look through a lot over the months and I've hardly ever seen 2 the same.
For example I looked through 7 Warrior Windblades to find the one with a straight logo and each logo was unique.
Or Compare this Soundwave to the others shown :

Va'al wrote:Notified by fellow Seibertronian Sabrblade, we checked in with AllSpark user SwiftEagle who reports a Transformers: Robots in Disguise Warrior class Soundwave variant found. The new version has some added plastic to the otherwise entirely lightpiped facesculpt, adding the traditional faceplate, and a different pattern on the scanning sticker.
Is it new sculpting? I was under the impression that the mask was always there, they just didn't paint over it so it would match his Prime look (the added paint matches the package art).

I thought about that too when writing the story, but the person who found it said it was a new piece of plastic - so I don't know, is the answer here.

Wouldn't that be 1% away from looking like Prime Soundwave? Prime Soundwave had a full visored face with no faceplate.ScottyP wrote:Faceplate looks nice, and does get the toy about 1% closer to actually looking like Prime Soundwave.

He's still better protected from them than Drag Strip is.

This new toy was found on Red Mercury, a Japanese import site (since several Japanese Transformers fans feel the need to import Hasbro products and these will cost them $22 each) and it also had a listing an image for another new one step, Heatseeker. This character is getting a lot of attention in the toyline with also getting a legion class toy. None of the other stunticons are getting this much attention.
Enjoy these two new in package images. You can see the robot mode as a render on the side.
