It looks like a nice homage to the original, but I just don't see it meshing with my collection.

This is the main reason I hawk AmiAmi (even though i like Transformers just fine).
Just waiting for this guy to show up.
I hope these toy fairs yield some new pics of the pilots.

I dont think this should be treated under the same scrutiny as a transformer toy. This is a mech, not a sentient being and thus he whole point of the machines is that they do have components of the larger robot, like Powerrangers. So a visible head is a bit more forgiveable.

Same. Seeing it coloured ... there's just something about it that disappoints me.

It is the original stereotypical "heroic" colors of Japanese super robot genre. Optimus too shares the colors old red, white and blue. Gundam, Starsaber, heck even Starscream (sort of)

Theres another japanese robot toy that shares that same color scheme. Cobotron, would you care to illuminate us?

But are you comparing it to standard transformers or to its original source? This technically is more akin to a megazord than a combining transformer.

I know all about that but in the video animation we saw it was a perfect transformation. Besides in 2015 a MP grade combining figure should at least have the option to do perfect transformation. SOC Voltes V did that, and then you could "Enhance" the look with part swapping.

If this is to be redecoed into any Transformer, should be the one who was based on Diabattles in the first place: Stormbringer.Windsweeper wrote:The silhouette of the robot mode reminds me of G1 Skyquake.

Well, it shouldn't be read as "Diabattle" anyway (a typo seen throughout this thread). Its name is "Diabattles".Burn wrote:That and every time I read it I read Diabattle as Diabetes.

I wouldn't mind a series of these, of course if there were, I would have to admire it from a distance because the price for keeping up with this series, would probably be pretty obscene.

D-Maximus_Prime wrote:Quick Question: Why is it that japanese original combiner-types love to use 3 members so much? it just seems a bit odd to me
The idea of 3 members combining as one is not just rooted in their culture but in most cultures around the world. As far as TFs, Hasbro did it too. It was Kenner at the time that thought of having the beast combiners be 3 members. We even got that armada minicon team last year which was also 3 members combining into 1. I think the reason why 3 for a combiner works is because there are 3 main parts divisible for a humanoid body (look at any character creator out there): the legs, the torso and the head.
Posted by Sabrblade on September 27th, 2015 @ 11:26pm CDT
It might have something to do with there being three primary colors (red, blue, yellow) and Japan's affinity for color-coded heroes using those three colors, so a lot of Japanese hero teams end up doing things in trios based on the three colors, which we also see here in Diabattles's deco.D-Maximus_Prime wrote:Quick Question: Why is it that japanese original combiner-types love to use 3 members so much? it just seems a bit odd to me
