Which would be great, if they had any of the new PotP figures, or indeed any Transformers that we didn't have already....

I agree that HTS needs to step their game up in terms of giving us what we want on time. Hasbro needs to take charge so that they don't miss out on making sales. IIRC HTS is run by someone else with Hasbro's permission. Seems like red tape isn't doing to toy industry any good as of late. But maybe it's just me being grumpy.
Either way let's hope these sales are their way of making room for some new stuff.

Its not that simple. If Hasbro starts prioritizing its own outlet, they risk "offending" (and thats an overused word in this day and age, and not a fully correct one) their main customers:WalMart,Target, Meijer, etc. Why would we go to those stores if we can go straight to the source? In the grand scheme of things, Transformers sales isnt much, but why should a major retailer support a toy company that can and will undercut the retailer's sales? Its just not good business, especially in a digital sales economy. So as a way to serve the fandoms, Hasbro has an online presencr, but in order to appease their biggest spenders, the wevsite is lightly stocked, and/or stocked last, after all other retail orders have gone out.

WreckerJack wrote:I understand those concerns, but looking at LEGO they always have great stock on their site and in their stores yet their sets are well stocked in brick and mortar stores (pardon the pun). I just don't see why other brands don't follow that model because it is really great.
Apple does as well.
The reason others don't is because this is all very costly and may not be worth it for many. It works for Lego due to the fact that manufacture is fully automated and they have less product to focus on (as does Apple) and they have many high priced items (as does Apple). Hasbro has a ton of low priced products, so you need more effort maintaining stock and manufacturing to adjust to demand while making less revenue. These different product types and company strategies, what works for one can easily be disadvantageous to another.

Yes exactly hence why I dont understand why people are puzzled over them not always having stock. Its like wondering why TJMax doesnt have the latest POTP wave.

I'll second that, I've seen PotP OP and Unicoranus Rodimus for $30 at two different Walmarts in Louisiana.Deathsaurus1 wrote:I walked inside of a walmart on estrella parkway, goodyear arizona. Found Power of the primes leader class rodimus prime discounted down to $30!!

It's been slowly dropping all week. Can't predict it but I feel like it'll go a bit lower. It was as low as $10 not long ago.

I found one there last night and can confirm at that price. I'm usually only interested in MP's, but even I couldn't pass it up.
The red Ollie's price tag is there on the upper right hand corner of the box. Don't know how they do it, but they're able to get awesome closeout deals and pass along the savings. A lot of people (myself included) have been getting dirt cheap DC Comics books on closeout from them for the past few months. Good luck to all on the hunt!
For what it's worth, the cashier said she hadn't seen them before and figured they had just got them in. This was at the Callaway, FL Ollie's btw. Perhaps the price/tag was intended for another Transformer, but it does show up as one on the receipt.

While this may sound unbelievable, the person who found it has given photo evidence, along with the product number and receipt in case you want to check out if your local Ollie's has one. For those unaware, this retail chain, named Ollie's Bargain Outlet, sells surplus from other places and is a dumping ground for bankruptcy sales and closeout of other retailers and manufacturers (this might be a dumping ground for Toysrus). Trypticon was found at a store in Florida by Animal Mother, a toy colelctor who posted the finding on the TFW2005 boards. The digits above the bar code are 316 D8 and he item number is 157342. This is by far the lowest a titan class figure has been acquired at retail, beating out that Fort Max at Ross deal from last year.I found one there last night and can confirm at that price. I'm usually only interested in MP's, but even I couldn't pass it up.

Regardless, I hope plenty more folks get to buy a Trypticon that may not have been able to before, even if it turns out to be $40 like Fort Max was.
Also, why does the price tag move from shot to shot
Edit, yet more weirdness: when did they change their price tags to be a lighter orange with rounded corners? Maybe they did, but the other items in the background have the bright neon orange ones with squared corners. I do want this to be real but my BS detector is going off like Brainstorm's Early Early Warning device on this one.

$8, about half of what you'd find them at. Had about 2 boxes of them IIRC.

You misunderstood. I have no issue with the news. I was lazy so didn't quote it, but someone here was speculating it could be a price error or fake. As you probably know, there are pages of TFW users attacking the guy that posted the deal. All this debating on if it was real or not. Was just hoping that wouldn't happen here as well.

The good news is the closest store (i.e. the western most location) is in Hot Springs AR, just about 1600 miles away for those of us in California lol....I calculated the cost in gas to drive would be $300-$400, so I'd have to get 4 or 5 to make the trip worth it. I hope someone responds to you, that's a heck of a deal, but still there's still plenty of Trypticons from online retailers, but who knows, maybe collectors will purchase these, sell them for cheap on eBay, and still make a profit.

A one-off pricing snafu got me a Quantum Leap complete series box set for <$2 at my other Ollie's last month, so it wouldn't surprise me if this never happens again.

Cool. That's 3 of us then. Like I told MangaMike, I'm going to hit the Maryville Ollies on Thursday. If they have Trypticon, and he's $20 or less. I'll snag two extra, and we can meet up at some point.
Have you been to Token in West Knox/Farragut yet? It's like a bar & grill for geeks.

Well of course he has integration with TR/Generations (a much better toyline), pretty much the ONLY reason anyone wants him. , I admit, that's the only reason why I'd buy one, if I ever saw one in the store. Paying $40-$50 online for a $15 dollar deluxe though...nope, not doing that.
