With Sixshot being a leader class figure, we get a lengthier comic and a chance to showcase all his modes in a glorious fashion through a fight with Ultra Magnus. We even see the appearance of the flying wolf mode, an extra mode the toy can have which is not included in the instructions.
The Broadside comic has a lot of fun with the idea of Broadside's changing looks throughout history with his latest look being the headmaster unit (which was called Blunderbuss when released by Hasbro). They keep the scale established with the aerialbots that are included with the set, making Broadside massive even just as a head. He towers over Megatron and Optimus (who is using his Masterpiece body here, interestingly enough) and Grand Scourge who makes a fun return.
Broadside is gigantic when combined to his transtector, dwarfing even Trypticon.
The Doublecross comic shows us that it is indeed White Leo piloting the Transtector, though the image shows us two different White Leos so i is unsure exactly what is going on without a proper translation.
The Misfire comic has Hayato Sacomoto create some brand new fiction for the grey and black Autobot Targetmasters. Unlike the Decepticons Targetmasters and the three red and gray Autobot Targetmasters, who are smaller robots, these grey and black Autobot Targetmasters are girls.
These are filled the the usual fan service from the artist who takes it up a notch with the addition of anthropomorphised animals through Battle Beasts.
Remember that these must be read from right to left (from up to down).
Enjoy!

Oh Japan. Despite being one of my favorite countries... I still don't understand what the f**k goes on over there.
And is it me, or does Star Saber's brain master look like it has a titan master face on it? Will we actually be getting a POTP Star Saber!? Or is it just the Masterpiece...

Sixshot:
In the G1 World, former Decepticon ninja staff officer Sixshot surrenders to the Autobots to be imprisoned at the Planet Micro Satellite Penitentiary. Recognizing him as a member of the dangerous Six Clan, the personnel neutralize his six-changing ability by removing his head and converting it into a micro-sized robot mode, unaware that Sixshot has already been ostracized from the ninja clan by joining the war, going against their rules to stay secret. This is all according to Sixshot's plan, however, as he's working with Daniel Witwicky to infiltrate the prison and break out Star Saber, unjustly imprisoned by the compromised Galactic Peace Alliance. The Sixshot body held within the prison suddenly falls to pieces as Daniel pilots his real body, already modified into a transtector, out from the lava underneath the facility. Escaping into space with Sixshot and Star Saber, he explains that they'll hide from the Alliance in the Legends World.
On arrival, Daniel seeks out Chromedome, who agrees to shelter him and Star Saber but refuses to help Sixshot, murderer of his friends Abel and Jack. Sixshot turns to leave, but Chromedome changes his mind and lets him stay... in exchange for working as his art assistant, as Chromedome has quit his job to become a full-time manga artist. Sixshot doesn't fully understand the "moe" artstyle he helps ink, but reflects that it's good that Chromedome has found a way to reach out to people's hearts, seeing as he himself is only good at killing. He also notes a certain resemblance between Chromedome's original character and Arcee, causing the Autobot to grow flustered while the others tease him about his old crush. Suddenly, Ultra Magnus arrives on their doorstep, having been tasked by the Galactic Peace Alliance with capturing the fugitives. Not wanting to cause any trouble for his benefactor, Sixshot decides to act like he's been holding Chromedome hostage and confront Magnus while Daniel and Star Saber escape.
Ultra Magnus is happy for a rematch with his killer, positive that he won't lose with power of Alpha Trion, Matrix, on his side. Sixshot merges with his transtector and attacks the Autobot using several of his modes, intending to finish him off with his seventh Wingwolf mode once again, but this time Ultra Magnus is able to catch him out of the air and throw him to the ground. They both transform into their car modes and ram each other head on, and when the dust from the collision settles, Sixshot stands victorious... until he's suddenly impaled from behind by Nightbird, agent of the Six Clan, as punishment for defying them. Daniel rushes out to his friend, but Sixshot accepts his death, considering it just deserts for his evil deeds, and tells Daniel to treasure his life before succumbing to his injuries and exploding.
But that is not the end: a bandage-clad but alive Sixshot later purchases the magazine in which Chromedome's manga has been published and, treasuring the moment of peace he experienced working on it, resolves to repay him. Having learned that the dead can be resurrected in the Legends World, he seeks out Giga for help, wanting to bring back the friends of Chromedome he killed. Giga explains that the power to do so, the spirit energy used by the Zamojin, is none other than Shinchōkon—"God Super Soul"—and questions if Sixshot has the resolve needed to control it.
Doublecross:
The Legends World is visited by White Leo, leader of the Beastformers, exiled from his homeworld of Beast after being defeated by his enemies, the Laser Beasts. He uses six mystical jewels to transform Neo Akihabara City into a jungle and recruit the unwilling local beasts to fight alongside him, granting them Beastformer armor, though the local humans instead end up as naked as animals (and are offended when White Leo calls them "ape-type beasts"). Unfortunately, White Leo finds that he's been followed by his nemesis Tigerburn, Emperor of the Laser Beasts, who explains that the six jewels contain the crystallized power of the Three Wise Ones and that he wants his hands on them. Tigerburn is seated atop Doublecross, to the surprise of his old buddy Repugnus, and White Leo explains that the Monsterbot has been Tigerburn's puppet ever since the Laser Beasts cut his head off, removing his sense of self. Furthermore, Tigerburn reveals that he's modified his body to become completely robotic, used Legends technology to become a Headmaster in order to combine with Doublecross's body, and acquired the most powerful Laser Beast weapon, the Haywire Laser.
White Leo can do nothing but flee from the powered-up Tigerburn, but his younger sister, White Lune, appears before him with Doublecross's severed head and a plan: if the Three Wise Ones once used the jewels to create the Beastformers by giving machines to animals, they should be able to use them to evolve further alongside machines. The jewels emit a light that sucks in the Haywire Laser and merges it with White Lune, who transforms into a robot and knocks Tigerburn's block off. White Leo himself is merged with Doublecross's head, allowing him to transform into it and combine with Doublecross, whose mind(s) is restored in the process. Doublecross and White Lune blow Tigerburn back into his own dimension with a Spark Fire Attack, after which the siblings prepare to return and continue the war back home, but first they stop to apologize to the Legends locals for forcing them to become Beastformers. Upset, Rattrap and Tigatron tell them to consider how things would be if their roles were reverse: how would the Beastformers like it if they were forced to wear nothing but neckties and work as office workers? White Leo and Lune agree that it would be awful.
Misfire:
The buildings in Neo Akihabara City are being bought up one by one by Misfire, whose luck in gambling and the stock market has made him filthy rich. When the 'bot himself appears, throwing money around and demanding to be called "Perfectfire" from now on, Triggerhappy refuses to believe someone as unlucky and prone to missing as him could pull this off. Hot Rod and Shaoshao Li are also suspicious, especially given the presence of Misfire's Targetmaster partner, Aimless, and that night they sneak into Misfire's purchased Trypticon to investigate. Misfire catches them and fires Aimless at Hot Rod, but instead hits Shaoshao, transforming her into an infant! He reveals that Aimless's mutant ability is to shoot through time itself, allowing him to see into the future and get rich, which in turn has afforded him a transtector that he combines with.
Misfire blasts a hole into the future in order to predict how Hot Rod will move, making it impossible for the Autobot to dodge his attacks... but is somehow so bad at aiming that even knowing the future, he fails to hit a completely still Hot Rod and instead ends up blasting all the stuff he's bought, which disappears to when-knows-where. Hot Rod punches his head off and demands he restore Shaoshao to normal, only for Misfire to miss again and hit Hot Rod, "aging" him into Rodimus Prime. Everything is eventually cleared up and Misfire and Aimless are arrested, though Shaoshao is mad at Hot Rod for not making her younger when he had the chance. Unfortunately, the officer supposed to interrogate Misfire is Triggerhappy, who starts teaching his old comrade how to aim instead.

Also, does this mean Battle Beasts are officially part of Transformers canon now? I mean, I know nothing about Battle Beasts, but if this is gonna be anything like the Ask Vector Prime Gobots shenanigans I can see a glorious outpouring of salt from Walky and co.

The Beastformers (as they're called in Japan) were always part of Transformers. They were released in Japan under the Autobot and Decepticon factions as allies to each, and they appeared multiple times in The Headmasters cartoon.Black Hat wrote:Also, does this mean Battle Beasts are officially part of Transformers canon now? Only the Western version, Battle Beasts, was released as its own line unrelated to Transformers.

In the 2030s of the G1 World, Grand Scourge has interrupted a battle between the Autobots and Decepticons by taking the Stunticons as his limbs and defeating Superion, and is now going after Optimus Prime's Matrix. Prime is saved when Broadside comes leaping out of a gigantic jet, freeing the Aerialbots from Scourge's grasp before transforming into a head and combining with the jet—actually a city-sized transtector that dwarfs the villain. One blast from his 80,000 volt plasma pulse gun sends Scourge flying straight out of their dimension, and the Decepticons flee. Broadside explains that his past seasickness, fear of heights and frail constitution has led him to repeatedly remodel himself in pursuit of self-improvement, and his latest body is that of a gigantic Headmaster.
Broadside and the Aerialbots are later deployed to the current era of the Legends World to guard the dimension against future threats. Impressed by his power, Armada Thrust tries to convince Broadside to conquer the world with him, and when the Triple Changer refuses, he and Trickdiamond take matters into their own hands and steal the transtector. Broadside can only watch as Thrust defeats Metroplex and Trypticon, and is lamenting that the power he got to protect people is now being used for conquest when Brawn and Repugnus show up and offer their help through use of their armor suits. They recognize that while a regular transtector would be of no use to Broadside, they can able to use Blowpipe's clone beam to multiply the mass of Repugnus's suit to the point where Broadside can pilot it.
Using the suit's flight mode, Broadside flies into his transtector and confronts Thrust, who pleads for forgiveness, claiming he only wanted to prove the power of his intellect. Broadside understands his feelings, having made poor decisions in the past because he felt weak and sought power, including working with the Decepticons. He tells Thrust that everyone makes mistakes, and what's important is realizing they were mistakes and changing for the better, using Megatron's current peaceful attitude as an example. Furthermore, Broadside believes that while he himself has trained his body to become powerful, Thrust's strength lies in his trained brain, and he encourages the Decepticon to use his intellect for something good. Thrust takes his words to heart and decides to stay with him and the Aerialbots, though he doesn't particularly get along with the other fliers. They're all shocked when Broadside decides to rest and reveals that the bridge of his aircraft carrier serves as a chair for him.

Looks like the backside of the chair Courage was sitting in. Technically, the original was a Brainmaster with a face in his chest until the MP came along and he became a "cogmaster"

I understand that there is a notable difference, but I don't know. It still comes off as excessive to me. Is the legends line not marketed to children? I have no problem with nudity, but I would have a problem with my son opening up a toy and this comic was inside.

It's definitely marketed to collectors rather than children. The Legends line as a whole is aimed more at older collectors.
Though it is worth noting the Japanese have a MUCH more lax view on nudity than the West (at least, in cartoons). If a kid WERE to read it their reaction would probably be "LOL, boobs!" in much the same way as kids' comics in the West might wedgie gags or the like. AFAIK nobody much in Japan outside of a very small group of moral busybodies (basically "Won't someone please think of the children!?!" types) really cares. Compare that with Kiss Players where the Japanese fanbase were outright disgusted and were worried that Westerners might think that sh!t was considered "normal" in Japan.
To quote TV Tropes, Naked People are Funny. A shame then that TV Tropes isn't anymore.
But yeah, either way it's really nothing to get upset about. Equal parts cultural dissonance and Sakamoto exercising his ability to not give a toss thanks to an older audience.
(Of course, given that Sakamoto-senpai is actually pretty familiar with the Western fanbase it's entirely possible he's doing it just to upset certain silly individuals.)

We really don't know how long after the Masterforce cartoon the year 2021 takes place, as the Masterforce cartoon still has no official year placement of its own. For all we know, the Headmaster Juniors could all now just be one year older than they were in the cartoon, which would make Minerva merely 16 as she was 15 in the cartoon.Black Hat wrote:That's something of an exaggeration. It’s post 2030. The intro to Broadsides comic took place in 2030 so the kids are in their 20s now if you’re saying master force was 2021 and they were 15-16 so that would put the master force trio on their mid 20s

So there’s time traveling or has 9 years just passed in the legends univers? because there has been a lot of stuff that’s happened in the legends universe. I’d honestly be okay if just time has passed.

Time in the Legends World is grossly out of sync with time in the G1 World to the point of nonsense. For instance, Megatron arrived in the Legends World from the G1 World's 2030s. Then, the Headmaster Juniors, Headmasters, Targetmasters, Twincast, and Soundblaster all arrived in the Legends World after Megatron, but having come from the G1 World's year of 2021. And now, Broadside and the Aerialbots have arrived in the Legends World after all of those guys, but came from a point in the G1 World's 2030s before Megatron's original departure date in that same G1 World's 2030s. It's like anyone can just come and go between worlds at any point in time in the G1 World, only to arrive in the same era of the Legends World completely out of chronological order from the G1 World's timeline and all within a reasonably close proximity to each other's arrival time in the Legends World.Randomhero wrote:Sabrblade wrote:No no no. For all we know, the Headmaster Juniors could all now just be one year older than they were in the cartoon, which would make Minerva merely 16 as she was 15 in the cartoon.Black Hat wrote:That's something of an exaggeration. All that and people get pissy over Sakamoto drawing what some(not me) call controversial things. This entire universe is a giant joke. I’m reading the tfwik articles of each comic right now and am at LG Megatron and all I can do is shake my head.
People take this comic too seriously to get offended by its content.

Cab drags Shūta along to peek on Minerva in the shower, trying to defend the violation of privacy as "appreciating beauty", and they end up caught in the act when Godbomber chimes in using telepathy and Minerva overhears his thoughts. Ginrai interrupts to bring them all along on a delivery to Bonapar Island, but as they fly across the Pacific Ocean on Godbomber, they get shot down by the Gigatank firing from the island. Godbomber transforms to robot mode fight back, only for the Megajet to appear, blast the Headmasters off of both Super Ginrai and Godbomber, and capture them.
Giga and Mega haven't accounted for the Headmaster Juniors traveling inside Godbomber, however, and Shūta is able to kick the head-mode Minerva and Cab at the Super Ginrai and Godbomber transtectors, allowing them to become "Super Minerva" and "God Cab". The two combine into "God Minerva" mode and recover Ginrai and Godbomber from Giga and Mega, who make their escape with Ginrai's shipment—new Master-Braces made for research purposes. While Ginrai and the others are left wondering why their old enemies have come back to life, Giga revels in the fact that he and Mega can once again operate a transtector and finally get their revenge on Ginrai.

That’s your perspective and again, Takara publishes it. They look at the comics too and if they find it just fine and meets their standards who are we to judge?
Oh there are. Not gonna get into it too deep but let’s just say someone was so out right offended they were blowing up not just this just other sites boards demanding the sites change stuff around to accommodate them and their personal views. Tfw2005 ended up deleting entire pages of posts.
Honestly I’m just going to say this:
If you repeatedly get upset over the content of the Legends comic over and over every time new releases happen then stop reading them. After so many times why continue clicking on the articles? It’s not like complaining does anything. Unlike some comic artists and writers, Sakamoto is not part of the community outside Japan. He doesn’t know know English. He has to have a translator when he goes to cons and has to have scripts from IDW translated to Japanese when he does work for them. He doesn’t see the complaints.

Oh wow. I wish I could have seen that little tirade before they deleted it!

It’s happened a couple times in the past couple months but the one I’m mentioning was certainly a thing

Fan service is quite common in manga and anime for older children. Read and watch some, and you'll see how much we censor it
Moonshot wrote:I love these Legends comics. So crazy and out there but still working to connect Japan G1 lore. Sakamoto has been great here and on his TFCC stuff.
To be fair, the Legends manga is nothing more but fanwank deep down with hints to every single corner of the overall fiction, to Japanese pop culture in general, and then some, without any desire to connect it to anything. That's all there is to it.

So let me get this straight.
You expressed your dislike of the Legends comic when it was all one thread and demanded the comics be split into their own thread because the sight of cartoon skin pains your posterior. Your demands were accepted and the threads were split...
...And you then came into the comics thread SOLELY to stir sh!t up, knowing full well there would be material within you disliked, which had been split into this thread thanks to your bleatings?
Posted by Burn on December 3rd, 2017 @ 6:35pm CST
You've made it perfectly clear you don't approve of these comics, so I have no idea what you're doing in this thread other than intentionally starting shit.
Which is why I deleted your post.

I asked for a separare thread for a number of reasons:
- it was interfering with discussing about the toys.
-some people found the comics offensive.
- Having a place to discuss, negatively or positively, the comics
is important. It's not the "Let's extol the virtues of these comics", it's a DISCUSSION. Thus, people should be free to comment or criticize such content.
My original post was not racist, sexist or offensive in anyway. There might be people that didn't agree with the views contained in it, but removing it, while keeping the original (which is media that HAS caused offense) seems to not be in keeping with the promotion of free speech. At worst, it seems to be supporting the right to post such comics, while removing criticisms or parodies of such content.
