Takara is going all out with their Transformers Masterpiece MPG 01 Trainbot Shouki. They have a whole section on their site for him with lots of new pics and even a video on youtube showing the different features. Those include opening up the front of the train mode to have a minifugure drive. We also see a shot of Shouki with other MP figures and he is indeed MP scaled, which should make for a giant combiner. Speaking of which, we have a silouette of Raiden as well.
Also, there is some misinformation of the price online so please read this carefully. The MSRP of this toy is 18000 yen. Any price mentioned that is higher adds Japanese tax which only concerns Japanese citizens. Also, there will be an inevitable discount on Amazon that is routine with non exclusive figures since the prices sold at retail in Japan are always lower than MSRP. So, the price on Amazon Japan could go down to about $120 USD for Shouki in a week or two. Of course, you will have to add shipping and customs fees if that is applicable to your country (USA is not charged customs fees, lucky).
Here is the place to preorder this toy and be eligible for any price drop which is routine on such listings: https://www.amazon.co.jp/o/ASIN/B09HQPF ... rtron00-22
It will also tell you the time limit you have to cancel your toy if the price drop is not significant enough for you or if you change your mind.

Raiden will look really nice next to PotP Predaking though, although he will likely be 3 times as heavy and 4-5 times as expensive .
These will be my first MP's since I bought MP1 when it first came out, and then sold it in 2007

If it were a generations titan figure, I’d be all over this. It’s final price as an mp will rival unicron’s.

true, but it is a price that is broken up into smaller installments as opposed to Unicron's full upfront price, which is how a lot of people (not me) justify the third party combiner purchases. Some of which are more pricey then this guy.
that being said, I have no connection to this combiner team, so I was initially like "yay, an mp toy I don't need, finally don't have to keep shelling out me cashola"
but then these pics happened

Just to reiterate:
On Sat Jan 09, 2021 10:34 pm AllNewSuperRobot wrote:Some time ago, I mentioned a 3P Raiden set was in the works. Then HasTak alluded to an official something Raiden related and all went quiet on both fronts.
Via TF-Source and Moon Studio, we have the entire team of six up for pre-order. Due to arrive December 2021, $109.99 each. There is also currently a multi-purchase option for $659.94.
I'll update as and when more information drops.
MS01 Dark Knight
MS02 Ice Land
MS03 Iron Arm
MS04 Moon Shine
MS05 Green Zone
MS06 Cool Peak
Note: The images attached are only renders at the moment. They combine to form Radiatron.
On Wed Jan 13, 2021 8:36 pm AllNewSuperRobot wrote:Update on Radiatron:Each figure stands about 21CM/8.27" tall in robot mode.
Combine all 6 figures, Dark Knight, Ice Land, Iron Arm, Moon Shine, Green Zone and Cool Peak to form Radiatron.
For those interested, we have a completely different distribution method and pricing from Omegalock.co.uk
The six Train Bots are being sold as pairs, priced at £159.99. With a £39.99 deposit option available.
MS-01 Dark Knight & MS-02 Ice Land
MS-03 Iron Arm & MS-04 Moon Shine
MS-05 Green Zone & MS-06 Cool Peak
Which in total comes to £479.97 (or £119.97 via deposit). A cheaper alternative to TFSource, in light of customs, shipping etc.

Better now though instead of on the aftermarket.

Also I'm pretty sure his torso mode isn't to scale here.
I think it's enlarged just to show his placement and most likely parts of another figure will cover the obvious train parts to smooth out the sides of Raiden.

Maybe.
Especially because there's a zillion 3P offerings that are overall cheaper.
One thing going for MP Raiden is that only ONE 3P version exist. It's not even out yet and the price is almost the same.

I think it's uniqueness makes it more desirable. But I guess I am the opposite of most. Although UW/CW/PotP wasn't perfect, it has given me a solid representation of most combiners that I have added to my collection. I don't need any further updates to any of them, which is why Legacy Stuntacons don't interest me. So as you see in my list in my signature, any of the combiners that haven't been previously released (or even all new ones for that matter), I would prefer over rehashing the same old 3 or 4 most popular ones again.
The price is tough no matter what, but I'm glad it's Raiden, and not one of the more common combiners.

For me, it would make it sooo much easier to say no if it was Devy or Superion. I already have decent versions of them. This looks like it will be the only version of Raiden for quite some time as I can't see Hasbro deciding to do a Legacy version while MP Raiden is still in production (if ever).

Edit, I see him at 16592 JPY which was a 15% drop from when I added him to my list. However, that converts to $148 US according to Google. Is there another Listing you are seeing with a lower price?

I didn't notice this until I just read the original article again, but that price of 18,000jpy is already the MSRP without tax. The taxed price, which is what Amazon originally posted and can also be seen on AmiAmi, was 19,800jpy. Like everyone else, I haven't seen it priced at $135, maybe it was for just a few minutes? The current price I'm getting is $142, which I think is a good price.

I think with this selling well in japan, and v.saber blown past its original goal, I think this tells hasbro that victory et al is on the table as something we want, there's literally no economic downside to sprinkling in some obscure Japanese figures into the legacy line, they are a after all a big part of the tf legacy, but it might be a little early to see a titan class raiden

Shipping is Free on Pulse (for U.S, residents anyway) for all orders over $50. So yeah, I'd say $145 USD (before tax) on Pulse is the *magic* number, any more, then yes Amazon.jp will be the better deal.

It wont be 145 before tax. Pulse never charged below MSRP for a Takara MP toy. As I wrote above, it will be no less than 160 before tax. Could be more.
You are best to order on anazon now to lock in the lower price. You can always cancel if you find better elsewhere.

Not as big as you may think. Raiden has some pedigree to him, while JRX/Rail Racer doesn't as much thanks to Car Robots not being that popular. Also, don't forget that TakaraTomy has Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion, which features contemporary trains like J5/Railspike's 500 Series Nozomi.

I have disagree entirely. I consider myself a fairly educated Transformers collector. I've got over 5,000 figures. Yet the train bots are not nearly as well known to me as the Rail Racer RiD1 figures. Maybe I'm the aberration but RiD was actually ON TV in the US, while the trainbots were NOT. Frankly, I was hoping that we'd be looking at a MP Rail Racer rather than what we are getting. I think we'd be getting more of our money's worth with the Rail Racer team. I feel like this is a HUGE gamble by TakaraTomy.

Yup, Takara doesn't think of the market outside Japan for their initiatives. This set is pretty awesome for them since it interests several different hobby audiences at once and the fact that this toy is number 1 on Amazon means it's working.
And Sabrblade, to answer your question, I think people were always going to complain about the price, regardless of the character. We've seen it happen time and time again ever since Dinobot, prices on MPs have gone really high it's more of a surprise when it's lower like Skids. Here we have a licenced train bot MP that has 3 modes and is priced between MP Blackarachnia and Tgatron. The only reason why this complaint is more apparent is because buying this one toy means buying 5 others so the high price stings more than usual. I mean, it should have been obvious from the onset but now people are seeing it officially and realize what it actually means to have an MP combiner.
I knew this would be coming so I was never invested in this news. I swore off the MP line in general aside from the BW MPs, prices have gone very high and I have the same satisfaction from WFC figures when it comes to G1 characters (plus, I have no space for these MP boxes).

Precisely, we've seen the pricing on the mps so we shouldn't have been surprised. What probably didn't help was the comments about scale and the talk of Unite Warriors, with people clinging to a misguided belief that the set would be priced similar.
Also trying to gauge what will come next after this is a fools errand, just like people saying that Star Saber will open the doors to JG1 in Generations when realistically, you won't get anything of the sort till after 2023-2024 due to product development times.
On a different note, at least we can relax safe in the knowledge that MP Skyfire will cost more then one MP Trainbot

That's Hasbro's fault for making people think that when we've had any number of Japanese characters in the line. We already know we have Black Zarak and Minerva coming next year and that has nothing to do with Victory Saber.

Good point, especially getting black Zarak's minion a good few months before. Then there was the other sprinklings we've had over the years (and nods such as how Universe Cyclonus could connect with his target master which was straight from the Headmasters cartoon)

Which, ironically, was a completely different Hasbro team from the one that's been giving us all these Japanese characters in the past two trilogies, especially since that older team was from the Archer Era that explicitly lacked that much knowledge of Japanese Transformers fiction (and thus cared little about it).ZeroWolf wrote:(and nods such as how Universe Cyclonus could connect with his target master which was straight from the Headmasters cartoon)
If anything, I bet that feature was something added specifically by Takashi Kunihiro, since he was one of the three designers who worked on that figure.
