Itching to own a San Diego Comic Con 2016 Transformers exclusive figure or set? Waiting to hear news on their availability on the legit online market? Hasbro Toy Shop have posted an FAQ to answer most of the questions you might have about it all! Including, of course, the availability date: 9th August.

When will the Comic Con exclusives be available on the site?

Although subject to change, we are planning on having the Convention Exclusives available to order on Tuesday, August 9th.The product will be located in the EXCLUSIVES category. No phone orders will be accepted. All Convention Exclusives are excluded from any promotions and discounts.

What will the limits be for the figures?
The limits will be the same at the show and on the site once they go live. These limits are per person and per household.

Can I get on a waiting list for Comic Con items?

No, HasbroToyShop.com does not have a waiting list for any items including Comic Con items.

Can I preorder Comic Con items?

No. We will not be preselling the Comic Con items.

The products were in my cart, yet when I went to check out, they were gone! How does that happen?

Placing an item in the cart does not reserve the item(s). Product is not committed until you actually complete the checkout process and receive a confirmation email with an order number. Due to the high demand of these items, an item can sell out while you are attempting to finalize your order. Should that happen; you will be required to remove the sold out item from your cart before you can proceed with the rest of your order. Please note, if there is a problem processing your order, you will be notified immediately. Failure to promptly respond accordingly may result in your order being cancelled.

Why was one of my orders canceled?

If your combined orders exceeded the maximum quantity limits set for each item, orders over the set amount are canceled. These limits are per person and per household

Will phone order be accepted for comic con items?

We are not accepting orders via phone for any comic con items. All orders must be placed online.

Can I use discounts or promotion codes on Comic Con items?

No. The standard HasbroToyShop.com policy does not include exclusives, including Comic Con items, for promotions or discounts.

So when do you think they will sell out?
Last year I got them the night after they were available no problem! But someone said they sold out while they were buying it?!
My concern is that I'm traveling on August 9th and might be offline for a good 48 hr if not more

But I do remember last year the exclusives were available for at least a week I think

I'm considering the 3 Pack: Brainstorm, Windblade, and Sentinel Prime, as the only other way (at this time) to get Brainstorm is through Wallgreens. Plus, that Windblade is a repaint of the RiD line (Warriors class?) Windblade, so would be a unique mold for me. I'm kinda Meh on Sentinel, which is why I haven't completely decided.

Fortress Maximus comes with his Master Sword, which is not coming with the normal Hasbro release. But, since I have acquired a Master Sword, I will not be over-paying for SDCC Ft. Max. (Plus, isn't one of the heads from the Takara set?)

I think there might be a couple of other Transformers related items, but these are the two I've seen the most chatter about.

I'm planning on getting the GI Joe/Transformers crossover set with vehicles based on Powerglide and Soundwave. Going back and forth on Fort Max.

As for hot items, last year the site slowed to an absolute crawl because people were trying to get the First Order Stormtrooper figure. I don't think anything this year will sell out that fast, but you'd better get in early if you want, say, the Magic cards set.

I didn't know that tablet was also a SDCC item. It's pretty neat looking and a similar one has been on TFS for some time now. I would assume the SDCC one will be different?

Hate to rain on parades, but it sports virtually no new paint apps, the SDCC version is nearly identical to the TR version, and the Master sword has no paint apps either, it's just plain red plastic with a plain black hilt |:|

There doesn't seem to be any site wide sale, and the SDCC exclusives won't show up until the 9th. HTS has seemed to me to be a bit slow getting these toys out there lately. I still haven't seen any Headmasters there yet.

HTS has finally put up listings for the headmasters, but they are listed as out of stock and coming soon, so you can't order them. I know that SDCC ones are going to show up on the 9th, so maybe they can be ordered then.

The first wave of the headmasters are finally all released at HTS. The 4 deluxes came in stock (and are still in stock) on the 9th, and the 2 voyagers Galvatron and Sentinel Prime

That would be a different point, independent of the cost of the items, wouldn't it?

[Edit] I didn't want to derail the thread, but your question was rather direct, and I didn't address it. The factors involving shipping are far more complicated than just paying for shipping or not. Here are all the factors that have me saying "YES!" to paying for shipping at BBTS.

1) POL feature. I do not know if Woozymoo has the same feature, but I get to pile several orders together into one shipment, which actually spreads the shipping out among all the items. I have this set as part of my current POL, and if I spread the shipping out among all of my items (approximately $18 for 13 items of differing value, that comes out to what, $1.50 an item rough figuring) that makes BBTS $2 more expensive for this set in question, plus $6 in shipping costs. So, we are talking about why I would be willing to pay $6 in shipping here plus $2 in item cost for a total of $8. (Plus, as more items come in, the shipping will fall even further per item. I love the POL feature!)

2) Customer support. I cannot speak to Woozymoo, but BBTS has top notch customer service! I am very willing to pay a bit extra in shipping costs to get that service. Plus, they package the items really well. I have never been disappointed by shipping damage.

3) They are literally across the St. Croix river from me, so when I hit "ship my POL" it usually is a day, or two if it is a large order to process, and I have my stuff. That is an extremely short shipping window.

So, yes, I am willing to pay the $8 difference (at this time) in total cost to go with BBTS. And I would still maintain that that does not make it a "far better price." Sure, it is cheaper, but at what potential cost?

Oh, I think options are awesome! And not everybody is going to choose to do things the way I do. I just think BBTS has been taking some unnecessary shots lately, implying that they somehow they gouge their customers...

I don't like how any of the figures' prices have been inflating. It's just about driven me out of collecting at all.

But if you are asking about the fact that I can get all 4 for $17.49 a figure and individual at $18.99, I'd say that is a fair $1.50 surcharge for breaking up a set. As is evidenced by Chromedome selling out, some figures will go faster than others. BBTS needs to be able to account for stock held or not sold because some figures are more popular than others. It's all economics. Supply and demand. Etc.

I guess I am just a bit more sympathetic to the risks involved for small businesses. I used to work for a comic book store (and almost bought it at one point) so I am very familiar with this sort of prognostication. BBTS has employees to pay and needs to make money. Indeed, if they are charging too much over the competition, then they will see sales drop. At this point, given what has sold out, it doesn't appear that the customer is ready to stop buying from them.

I really wonder if places like BBTS are receiving the brunt of what is actually overall inflation in toys (and other products). Would these same sorts of discussions be taking place if we were talking about $9.99 versus $11.49?

Ultimately, in my opinion, I prefer to pay the slight surcharge in figure sets, and shipping, to guarantee receiving the product I want over risking not being able to find it and paying a much higher amount in the secondary market. I don't want to risk it. (I suppose it is almost a version of insurance...)

I just looked. Blaster is still out of stock like he was when I checked this morning, and Brawn and Flywheels are in stock, but the other 2 are out of stock, as was the same story this morning

A lot of people have been looking for Grand Galvaron at a decent price. He is still readily available in Japan at the same price being asked when he first came out.
