for people waiting for the scorpion toy we talked before, disappointed news:it's not a new mold.just Energon Scorponok repaint.
1000 limted???
If this rumour pans out, and if the reported limited numbers are accurate, it is most likely that this may show up as a Botcon 2010 atendee figure. Given the scattered theme of figures that we've seen so far in the atendee figures, ranging from mid G1 (Sharkticons), to late G1 (Slicer) to G2 (Rapido); there is really only one figure in that scope that would make sense, and that would be Double Punch, released in Europe in 1991.
Is this rumour true? If so we'll find out at Botcon!

And yes, Double Punch is based on Masterforce Black Zarak.

pretty vaguely based on Black Zarak, but Double Punch would fit in well with the colours of the rest of the set. Looking forward to seeing it.

But it's the closest thing we have to a scorpion type figure that is not a Movie figure, and that's what matters most.

Forgotten wrote:=P~ I hope it's true. I was saying not too long ago that I would like to see that mold in a G2 neon color scheme.
Why? The original Energon Scorpy had neon colors. Those colors not garrish enough for you?
If they are going to do a repaint, I would rather see a G1 Scorponok Repaint. I don't mind the mold, but the previous colors (both Energon and Cybertron) were lackluster.

Wow. That sums it up best. that's pretty funny when you think about it. Things come full circle, eh?

If the rumor is true, Im betting on a movie Scorponok in the famous green and purple paint scheme from both G1 and Energon series. Kind of like the Dead End made from the Sideways mold. Just an easy way to pay homage and make a profit. Who wouldnt buy it ??? it's not like they ever got the colors movie accurate on either previous mold so why not radiate him with neon colors ???

The problem with that is Fan Pub are not allowed to use the movie line for their repaints and Botcon exclusives. That is the reason we haven't seen any to them as exclusives yet. Besides, Movie Scorponok!?! Why would you want to pay upwards of $40 for a repaint of that mold? It doesn't even have an alt mode (it is dead to me).

Well if the thing about movie line figures is true, that sucks. But give them a few years after TF3 is old news and the movie line will be part of Botcon, guarenteed. Theyre not gonna sleep on a money maker forever. Theyll buy the rights when Hasbro has juiced all they possibly can out of the line.
Sure movie Skorponoks robot mode sucks, but he has one bad ass scorpion mode !!! By movie standards, he is not even supposed to have any other mode but the scorpion, which is how most collectors display him. Just like nobody, displays Ravage in "entry mode". I would love to have this beast in G1 colors just like the Long Haul they made for Toys R Us. Its all about G1 homage...

No, he doesn't.

Energon Scorponok is about as close of an homage as you're likely to get. He's definitely close enough. Stating opinion as fact, doesn't make it true.
As for me? Sure, sounds like a fun repaint of a mold I really enjoy. I'm fairly certain he'd be based off of the remolded Cybertron version. So, would he actually include a Cyber key?

I would not count on it. The designwork will always be Paramount, even if the molds are all Hasbro and TakaraTomy; that's where the main licensing fees come from.

I think you're a little confused here, the figure you're seeing in the news post is Actionmaster Doublepunch, it is believed that the upcoming Energon Scorponok repaint is going to be in Doublepunch colours as a homage. The image is just there to serve as an example to what colour scheme to expect.
