I managed to snag 1-step Springload over the weekend, and got Jazz as a Christmas gift too. For being underpainted, Jazz is still very cool, and I love little Springload. He looks mean and he really does look like a frog. And I can't stop singing "Ribbits in disguise"

Still on the Robots in Disguise topic, our very own Scotty P found 3-Step Thunderhoof/Blizzard Strike Drift at US retail. They were found at Toysrus in Raleigh NC for $22.99 each.

Exactly. And even though this Optimus's shoulders aren't ball joints, they still look to be a whole lot better than the Warrior's, whose shoulder joints are some of the worst ones I have ever encountered.Cobotron wrote:Ya, Maybe. When did this ever happen? He seemed like a great figure - apart from the mis-assembled thighs

The Warrior's shoulders are absolutely terrible. Aside from their ability to rotate (which every shoulder ought to do anyway), they are stuck in a completely static position with no mobility at all.Hellscream9999 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Exactly. What he's saying is that the shoulders on the Warrior had to use the transformation joint to actually move up and down, whereas this one has a ball joint under the armor to move, making it look a bit more natural. Now mind you I still love my warrior but I can see where that nitpick about the transformation joint also being the shoulder vertical movement being a wee bit of a pain

I used a pocket knife and a file on my pocket multitool. One side came out like a factory job, they other is a loosey goosey, but holds just fine.

2 things to say to this:
1: The scout class has returned in scale alone, but not in spirit. The best part of the scout class was that it was as detailed and coplex as the deluxe class but fo characters that were simply smaller and thus needed to be part of a smaller scale to fit wth the other deluxes. These battlepacks are not made to scale with the warriors. It seems like RID toys are not meant to scale across classes (or even their own). Legion Fixit does scale wonderfully with Warrior Bee though.
2: If you like ball joints, then you may be dissapointed that Takara opted to replace some ball joints on UW Devy for pin joints attached by mushroom peg.

Oh all the fgures I bought this year, he is the worst by far. The transformation sucks hard, his head doesnt lock in, the peg hole on his back serves no purpose, his arms look terrible and his shulder articulation is very awkward. I bought the COTF version for 10$ and still feel I overpaid. He also doesnt scale with anything. Easily the worst RID toy of the bunch.

I disagree, but only because I have a soft spot for 3 inch action figures.william-james88 wrote:The scout class has returned in scale alone, but not in spirit.
True for some of the Gen. scout releases, but not for Beast Wars and Energon. They were heavily simplified. Especially BW with their flippy gimmicks, but no less detailed. The best part of the scout class was that it was as detailed and coplex as the deluxe class
True to all of this, but that soft spot has got me. Even though I'm a little rubbed to get more of the same characters, these just have great play value. These battlepacks are not made to scale with the warriors. Ah but you forget that Beast Wars werent Scout Class figures, they were basic figures. The first ever Scout Class figures were for energon and Signal Flare, Divebomb and Strongarm are as complex as deluxe Hotshot and Mega Ironhide for instance. Cruellock had less steps but that was due to design of the toy. Same with Ravage. A deluxe Ravage would not have been more complex, would it?
This same reviewer puts 9 steps for Signal Flare and 10 steps for both deluxe Prowl and Hotshot.
We dont even have to look there, just look at your most recently aquired Scout figures, TAV Frenzy adn Rumble. Are they less complex than any of the deluxe CW figures?
The Scout class was just a smaller deluxe without sacrificing detail and complexity and I will stand by that. Some Legends toys have done a good job sticking to that idea, such as Blackjack, who is also as complex as both his fellow deluxe class TFs AND combiner wars Silverbolt.
Oh and Sabr, yeah that Optimus scales with Megatronus. I just didnt think about him since I dont own him yet. I hope to soon, just so that Optimus isnt as alone.

With that in mind, legion Fixit is more articulated but with a simpler transformation (he just kinda lays down) than the warrior class figures in the RID line. Would that make him a super scout figure? Mega legion?

Point is though he looks awesome.
Posted by Cobotron on December 21st, 2015 @ 2:14pm CST
But OK, you have me on your better grasp on the chronological time line of the name change of these classes. They're all the same with a different name in my book. Remember Legions used to be Legends?
Details!
These guys are most akin to Cyberverse Commanders, hence they are considered so by their makers. Those Commanders are some great figures.
But in the end... Will! I thought you were excited about these guys?
I like Mega Legions.
Divebomb IS the best!

Also they waste the Bludgeon name on that lil thing? Although trying to look it up on tfwiki meant I came across the Beast Hunters Cyberverse Bludgeon I had never seen before (had avoided most of the BH line cos I wasn't much into Prime and the majority of BH figures are pretty ugly) and I actually like the look of it and now found it at a cheap price on eBay and looking forward to getting it and posing it next to my Blood-enhanced RotF Bludgeon perhaps as a Metallikato apprentice (maybe call him YoungBlud ) So yeah that'll do for me, as for this RID release, nope nope nope.

FOOL! You have obviously been duped by his clever disguise as a ball with a handle on it and are thus incapable of seeing that this is none other than the one and only master of Metallikato, the invincible BLUDGEON!...G1 Bludgeon that is! To a master of Metallikato, the seemingly impossible act of transforming from a Type-90 JSSDF tank into a small, roughly human-sized sphere with a conveniently placed carry-handle is simplicity itself!

I never said I wasnt. I just said these arent scout class figures since the whole idea of scout class is that they are supposed to scale with deluxes and voyagers. I am still excited about these and the small haul I will post later will be testament to my liking of the rid line in all its facets.

You would have never seen that BH Bludgeon since it was never released in the states. I am also quite surprised you found it for cheap in light of that fact. It was fetching a pretty penny last year for sure. Glad you are getting it, he is awesome and a great example of a well done retool.

You know, you are right. Maybe What I mean is there are examples of molds people find to be just crap but I find pretty decent because of the Takara paint job. Like Sjybyte. I legitimately think it is an amazing transformer. But no one cares because Hasbro butchered that deco. And for some reason, that Gen Whirl mold became much better when it was made all purple for Cloud Shockwave.

Yeah, that's exactly it, I'd take my Nightbird any and everyday over gen. or legends arcee...
I mean, it would still reek of cheapness in the hollow flimsy plastic (TT couldn't change the thickness of the plastic) so if it's squishy in the hasbro release, it probably wouldn't be much better from TT, just look at legends UM

oooooh, good one Delta; that certainly fits the 'non-frilled' design to a 'T' as much as the horned lizard; it even has the gaping maw - the one thing a horned lizard never seems to do, be photographed with it's mouth open, must be a desert thing

I'm in UK but yeah I wasn't visiting TF websites much around that time so missed it too. Yep I bought it second hand for £8.99 with free delivery. Complete with sword, missile and instruction sheet. And despite MyHermes delivery firm's best efforts to hide it(they seemed to think I wasn't home then left me a card bizarrely dated 30th December and said it was left with my 'neighbour at 93' except I'm in 93, I eventually found the package at 97), he arrived today so just in time for christmas.
Here he is being my RotF Bludgeon's 'minicon' of sorts as they go up against Springer & Arcee in a sword fight.
