Fellow Seibertronians, yours truly has spotted the new wave of 1-step changers, featuring Springload, Quillfire, and the new Bumblebee mold at Walmart! This image only shows the Bee mold and the Quillfire figure, but Springload was present and was picked up by said member before this picture was taken. So head on out to your local Walmart's and begin to look as these guys are bound to show up en masse soon!
Still on the Robots in Disguise topic, our very own Scotty P found 3-Step Thunderhoof/Blizzard Strike Drift at US retail. They were found at Toysrus in Raleigh NC for $22.99 each.

william-james88 wrote:You would have never seen that BH Bludgeon since it was never released in the states. I am also quite surprised you found it for cheap in light of that fact. It was fetching a pretty penny last year for sure. Glad you are getting it, he is awesome and a great example of a well done retool.
I'm in UK but yeah I wasn't visiting TF websites much around that time so missed it too. Yep I bought it second hand for £8.99 with free delivery. Complete with sword, missile and instruction sheet. And despite MyHermes delivery firm's best efforts to hide it(they seemed to think I wasn't home then left me a card bizarrely dated 30th December and said it was left with my 'neighbour at 93' except I'm in 93, I eventually found the package at 97), he arrived today so just in time for christmas.
Here he is being my RotF Bludgeon's 'minicon' of sorts as they go up against Springer & Arcee in a sword fight.

Happy Holidays! Thanks for watching the Optimus review. For a comparison here my Battle Pack Sideswipe review as well! While neither figures are bad they are little more than scaled up Legion class figures with silly armor bits and a bakugan. Younger kids might like them but I worry that the kids will lose or swallow the energon bits. (as the father of a 19-month-old I worry about these things)
Oh an on the 26th I'll follow up with my 2016 Wave 1 RID Minicon review.
Again, wishing you all a wonderful Holiday,

At Legion scale I don't expect a crazy amount of articulation given the designs. But at this scale some more articulation would be greatly appreciated.

More articulation than legion or more articulation than what they actually gave us?
Looks like you can pull off some pretty great poses still:

Megatronus is strangely satisfying, I think you'll dig him. Only reason I didn't get Fracture though is cause I recently pre-ordered the Adventure version.
Bumblebee is an odd duck though. He comes with a translucent smokey black sword more suitable for the Night Ops Bee which I recently acquired. I did some modding and swapping, now Backwards Day Bumblebee might be my favorite of the bunch!

I think my reaction to the armour is coloured negatively by the choice of the coloured they decided to cast them in - I don't think any work well at all - If they ever repaint them I hope they pick matching tones to the originals so they can be juggled with the armour from the 1st releases.
Dark Blue or red for Optimus and Red or magenta for Sideswipe for example.
I'm a little surprised that when they designed them they didn't think to make the armour also fit on the vehicles and the minicons in some ways too.
Posted by william-james88 on December 25th, 2015 @ 10:47am CST
These minicons are "Weapon Slipstream", "Stealth Anvil", "Stealth Hammer" and "Cyclone Undertone".

chuckdawg1999 wrote:After the disappointment of Warrior Sideswipe I, and many other collectors, were hoping for a better version of the character. Hasbro must have heard us as this Decepticon Hunter version is fantastic. If I were to have one complaint, it's that the figure doesn't come with a proper sword, instead the main weapon is a mace. Armored up the figure looks really good, and the combined weapon holds together better than Prime's. All in all, a solid buy.

Yeah. And I find that too bad since that energon armour is the extent of the playability they have for me (since I am not buying the deployers). Those extra energon figures were beautifully implemented last time (as well as terribly ignored by Hasbro). Does anyone know if anything extra can be made of these clear armour bits?

Optimus looks like he's a good option for scale fans and has that bonus advantage of being closer to the proper size like Grimlock is too - while not being quite so huge as the Takara "Leader class" version.
The versions shown here are the ones with metal parts - but they may well make all plastic version too.

I thought this was worth mentioning where someone would be more likely to see it than tucked away in the KO forum that is so rarely visited. as it's potentially of specific interest to those likely to read this thread perhaps.

D-Maximus_Prime wrote:It's still not a bad mold, just the arms really
Oh there is way more than that. The feet are right there for all to see, the transformation is overly simplistic with most detail repeating from robot mode to alt mode, there is a random hole in the back that serve NO purpose, the head keeps sinking and as you said, the arms are atrocious with both the terrible shoulder articulation and the giant panels under the forearms. Seriously, I would love to see anyone argue how this is not the worse toy from the warrior class. Sideswipe has a huge flaw, but he is way more interesting than this optimus toy.
Posted by RAR on January 2nd, 2016 @ 7:23am CST
I have no objection to the shoulders of the gap in the back of vehicle mode, I don't notice either in general play.
As for the head dipping down - did you grab it and pull it upwards as it has to "click" into place to stay put properly.
Anyway Warrior Optimus is a perfectly respectable toy by comparison to say Sideswipe. I'm definitely going to get the Oversize Optimus & Drift soon as I can locate a less expensive source for them.
The only slight objection I do have to Optimus is it's not an easy fix to fix the miss-assembly error on his legs.

So, what do you think of the new 'Cyclone' Mini-con's? Did you like Overload's transformation - should other tank-based transformers emulate it? let us know in the comment section below.

I think they are. You could always get a Battle Pack, a cool ball bot, and a super sweet Commander Class figure to PARTY YOUR DASHBOARD!carytheone wrote: I still like his lil buddy though. I hope they release at least one version of the round minicon as a single pack.
His character design is so cool, I wanted to like the toy. Maybe, like Fracture, we'll get a cool Warrior.I had high hopes for Overload, oh well.

I think you already talked me into the OP battle pack. Bludgeon is a cool minicon, but the lil round minicon I want is different than those. I want the one that looks like the ones that Micronus Prime sent after Optimus when he was training with King Kai.Cobotron wrote:I think they are. So far that mold only comes in a 4 pack and with Overlord.
Fracture set the bar pretty high, so one can only hope. I like his spartan look. His character design is so cool, I wanted to like the toy. Maybe, like Fracture, we'll get a cool Warrior.carytheone wrote:I had high hopes for Overload, oh well.

Picked up Overload, and man is he sweet. Excellent transformation, excellent gimmick, striking deco, cool battle mask, and unique articulation for a Deployer.
Honestly one of my top figures of the year in any category.

The treads are badass. I was hoping for more arm articulation. Overlord does have a very cool silhouette. I'll probably get him and deployer Drift if I find a good sale just for the minicons.Hellscream9999 wrote:I gotta say, I wasn't expecting the transformation to be as cool as it was, the way the tank leaves the treads on the ground is awesome; always nice to see new innovations for a standard archetype of transformers
Hoping for a warrior Overlord though. Maybe some of that Fracture lightning will strike twice.

There is one added factor to him being better than the other two deployers: the minicons he propels roll. That makes a huge difference for me since it adds a beautiful element of playability where the minicon covers a much greater distance. It would be like in the Star Wars Prequels where those all droids would roll around and transform to shoot at the jedi.
I might actually get this one if the price becomes right.

Oh its already beating a dead horse at this point.
And anyway, transforming toys as a concept arent Hasbro's invention either.
Posted by RAR on January 6th, 2016 @ 9:40am CST
The idea would appeal to me more if they didn't semi-automatically Transform.
The giftset does show they do look a bit more appealing with some paint on them though.
I suppose they might be considered to be on a par with Prime Microns (kits) and they also had a lack of decoration and didn't do much.
But Arms Microns at least can be "useful" I play with mine almost every day - more than I do Minicons for sure.

Me too, but I think its because the alt modes of the microns can be used by themselves too. The alt modes of these minicons only serves the deployer gimick.
