Target getting all the G1 reissues for the US distribution was quite an interesting move for the chain. While SDCC revealed all the exclusives Target would have we still didn't know what the prices would be. Well now we at least know the price for the Autobot Intel Ops set featuring Perceptor, Blaster and 3 casettes. This is thanks to a listing from Target showing it at 99.99$. There is no stock as of now, but keep this link in your favourites for when it does becomes available. It is actually 20$ cheaper than at TFSource (which is sold out there anyway). And stay subscribed to this thread if you want the latest info on this set's availability and the others being released this year.

Is it just me, but do these prices seem pretty terrible? I remember the older re-issues were fairly tame at about $30...

Last time Perceptor was reissued, he was running at 34.99 at TRU. This set includes Blaster and cassettes in addition. Seems a bit, but not entirely unreasonable.

Wasn't soundwave released with his cassettes once for a more reasonable price?

Soundwave is much smaller than Blaster. This Blaster is actually the reissued set from 2010 which was an SDCC exclusive, I dont know how much it cost then, but it was going for 140$ onTFsource before it was sold out.

And plus, you get new exclusive accessories you never had before. Plus inflation from 6 years ago (remember how much a deluxe cost back then?). This sounds very fair to me.

Last I recall Soundwave being reissued was way back in 2007... and I think he only came with Laserbeak & Ravage:

At the time he was 29.99.

I think there was an SDCC version with more cassettes, but that definitely went for more.

Well, fenrir's in Singapore or thereabouts (right?). These Platinum editions have been hitting there earlier than the US.

Ah, right, I forgot he was in singapore, yeah makes sense.

And Hellscream, you can always wait for a discount. I paid my predaking only 100$ and I am waiting for the coneheads to go lower too.

That price is easier to swallow. The hard pill is the Insecticons for $79.99 at K-Mart.

A couple of weeks ago,I was over on a side of town I'm not in that often, and remembered there was K-Mart there. I stopped to see if they had the Insecticons. Indeedy do they did. At least 2 full cases worth. The pegs were baron, although I did snag CW Rod and Warp (suprise! ), but there were plenty of bugs.

I predict these well simmer until Xmas super sales. I bet they will be very easy to snag at a more palatable price.

:-$ P.S. K-Mart is a dump. :(

On what site? Plus it has to be a super good price, as I am working on no money and still intend to get the rest of the cw line :BANG_HEAD:

Good thing is Target is not shy about clearing things out at reduced prices. This set is timed right so that if it sits it will be discounted by the end of September to get ready for the holiday shipments.

Walmart.ca (only available to canada). Well look, we all have choices to make. I chose to not get CW Megs (any of them), none of the none G1 CW Voyager torsos, none of wave 4 and no MPs. Instead I will try to get the conehead and perceptor/blaster reissue, the Legends Ladies (Blackarachnia and Slipstream), Legends Arcee and TAV 21. I buy whatever makes me happiest with the limited income I have. Choose what makes you happiest. I personally want to experience G1, and these prices are as fair as any other (way more fair than 20$ for a deluxe) but it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

Oh, I know all about that, its the reason why I basically haven't bought tf's in recent years, I was saving up for the inevitable line that I would go semi-completionist on. But there is something to wanting that little sliver of history in your collection, ya know?

Aside from the "slides" and the extra autobot decal on Perceptor's chrome "mirror", I'd say you have better luck getting the TFC versions cheaply. Then hunt for the Encore cassettes.

If the price is very wide in difference then the current SRP will be just fine. Except you still don't get Rewind.

Oh, I totally get that. So much so that I am favoring that sliver of history over other stuff. I find it so cool that we can still obtain nice brand new toys of that era. Too bad it isnt at the price of the Ninja Turtle rereleases though (just got 1988 Shredder brand new for 7$).

At least the price for this set is way much better than the price for the Insecticons. However, I'm not that surprised about the price since everything you buy will get more expensive as time goes by.

I like em. $99 is about right for two reissues of g1 with cassetes. I like that RID Grimlock too. It's a step in the right direction.

I already got a complete vintage G1 Rewind a while ago. It was 20$CAN, but still, I have it. Now, only Blaster remain.

I forget, but we did mention that the platinum triple changer set was at Amazon right? We had been wondering which retailer would have them in the US and it seems to be them (exclusively). It is the only platinum edition sold directly from them and not a third party.

http://www.amazon.com/Transformers-Platinum-Decepticon-Triple-Changers/dp/B00UCTS9UM/ref=sr_1_1?tag=seibertron07-20&ie=UTF8&qid=1439778647&sr=8-1&keywords=transformers+platinum

At 70$ Though, I think that makes it more pricey than what they were selling on e-bay from hongkong.

Dont know if that makes them the official retailer in Canada too.

Amazon discounted something like 20 of these guys to $45 on 'Prime Day' - they went fast. I was lucky to pick it up at that price!

So.... is that Platinum Trypticon ever going to get a wider release? BBTS still haven't had a pre-order up for this thing. One would've thought this could have been a BBTS exclusive or something.

I've only got Ramhorn handy, his only sticker is the rubsign.

Loaded with Freudian smuttery.

It's a SteelJaw with Tampographs I'm most keen to get some where or other for the sake of consistency. It's strange he comes with stickers or without depending on the version (so I've heard). I can't say I've ever heard of a Stickered Ravage.

While I think of it is there any others that were previously stickered then got Tampographs on another release ?

Shame those Dinosaur cassettes didn't get another bite of the cherry with fixed rivets and perhaps Tampographs I suspect that would be super popular. I wonder if the release of the KO's put Takara of releasing their own version reissues of those under the Encore brand - or was it simply to expensive to remake the mould for them ?

I'm sure they could have recuped the cost with repaints or clear versions.

---------

Anyway I notice the Platinum Blaster/Perceptor release is out - that was why I was wondering about Stickers and Tampographs all of a sudden.

Staring at the Seeker/Conehead set - I had a realisation of a real lost opportunity here - Takara or Hasbro should consider a "Rainmaker" set using the G1 F-15 moulds that would sort of awesome !

We already got a Sunstorm so to compensate for that a new one could be a yellow Seeker instead of Dreamwave Orange. alternatively they could forget about Sunstorm and sell a Purple Clone Seeker 3 pack or a pack with a Teal Blue 'Seeker' a a Purple one of a red one or even a Forest Green one.

I think with a bit of careful though you can get a couple of sets out of such an idea and not just the one.

I've always though the Forest Green Seeker was the prettiest But I like the red one a lot too.

I think that is an idea worth pursuing after all we already have the box layout ready to go all it needs is new art and some colour changes. the tray and such is already set out.

-------

One last Q: The recent reissue Insecticons what colour chests do they have are they Orange or yellow ?

I sort of was thinking it might be fun to get a few extra ones and have them distinguished by the different colour chest variation that exists - so I'm looking to see which versions released had which colour of chest compared to the previous reissue and the 1980s originals. It's a little expensive to use EHobby Insecticons as the clones.

The chests are yellow. They are a straight up reissue of G1.

How about the previous reissue - where they orange or yellow.
It looks like the Orange chest version shows up less often than the yellow chest Insections do.

Just trying plan out which ones I need to army build and which ones I would keep as the "Prime ones".

Pity they didn't think to make the purple Metal flake on the most recent reissues there was some discussion of the reissues being sparkly ones on some of the talk about them - as it's not like it's hard to get Insecticons they are still pretty easy to get on EBay even the 30 year old ones.

----

Q: Has anyone done a side by side comparison with G1 Blaster & Perceptor and the new ones anywhere in pictures of video ?

Also was it the old TRU Blaster that was the version that used the Twincast mould ( I really should get a Twincast Mould Blaster if One exists and I didn't just dream it) ?

Yeah there is a lighter yellow and a more orangy yellow variation on the clear parts in the chest. I think the main way I am aware of to get the Orange Chest versions is in Cigi French form from the 1980's >

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vDkFqy0375Q/U ... icons2.jpg

I was thinking the Orange chested ones would make good "leaders" for the the Yellow chested "Clones"

Those sure look yellow to me. I see no differences in color shade from the yellow ones with those in that image.

There also isn't a mention of any orange-chested versions on The Complete Transformers Variants Page.

Ask Maz (on TFW2005) - If anyone knows he will.

Besides being French I expect they are easily overlooked.

It's also likely one of those things that doesn't show up in photos like the difference between the Japanese Manta & Hasbro Manterror they look the same in pics but side by side they are a different colour scheme.

The site I got that picture from of has loads of images and they do look pretty orange to me, I have no reason to think they are lying and I was previously aware of the orange chest variation before I went looking for pics.

No Biggie I only mentioned it as I was looking for some Subtly different Insecticons to act as Prime Insecticons while other serve as clones - but on reflection one of the 3rd Party teams would do just as well.

Just out of curiosity.....does anyone know what the plastic quality of Platinum Edition Trypticon is like? I only ask coz I got the Platinum Edition Blaster & Perceptor....& Blasters plastic quality feels rather cheap! + I've heard it's the same with the Insecticons! not sure if the Seekers suffer the same issue?

I have the insecticons and their quality is as good as G1, which i also own.

There have been analyses on the difference with Trypticon and he seems to be as solid. The only difference is that his eyes are stickers now unlike the clear plastic of the G1 toy.

For all Canadians (and maybe americans), my TRU has brought the Platinum sets over to the collector corner where the electronics are. So they are no longer with the rest of the Transformers.

It's pretty stocked:

I've NEVER seen any of those Platinum sets at my local TRUs. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place. :-?

Robot Kingdom now has preorders for two new platinum sets:

Platinum Series "Year of the Monkey" Exclusive Air Attack Optimus Primal.
119.90$ Start Shipping on 1st October 2015.

Movie 4 Platinum Edition Generation Dinobot 5 Pack G1 Colour.
109.90$ Available on 1st October 2015

It should be kept in mind that Robot Kingdom's prices will be a close, but not necessarily a 100% accurate, portrayal of MSRP on those.

However, these prices tell us that the Dinobot 5 Pack will be the same price or less than the Platinum Autobot Unite 5 Pack or the Platinum Movie Dinobot 5 Pack of last year. We also know that Optimus Primal will be priced between the 2 Year of the Goat released as he is more expensive than G2 Prime but less than MP Soundwave.

We also now have new stock images of the Platinum (G1 deco) Dinobot 5 pack which have been mirrored below.

Well that means the Air Attack Primal will probably be over $200 in Canada :-? That'd definitely be a no.
Those Dinobots on the other hand look pretty good. I wouldn't have used the same color layouts, but something tells me these will be the only classics Dinobots we'll get for a long time ;)
I also wonder how possible it is to switch AOE and This Swoop's torsos out. I prefer toon colors on Swoop

Who's the genius who came up with that pricing on Primal? I can imagine it might do alright at $50, but $110? That's just moronic.

I'm not familiar with the mold of Primal, but it sure doesn't seem worth it at that price point.
