While this is technically (allegedly) the Takara Tomy Legends LG-43 Dinosaurer figure, we're choosing to show it in the Titans Return Trypticon thread on account of it being a good look at the new Titan class figure and to give breathing space to all the Godbomber news!

With that over, take a look at this brief video showing the features of the Decepticon t-rex (though not the transformation) and Full-Tilt and Titan Master Necro!

Hopefully so. Tryp and Overlord are my most anticipated figures this year which is saying a lot with all that's been released under the TR line this year.

The former.

ダイノザウラー "Dainozaurā" is what the one from Scramble City was called. The rest of his appearances (and toys) used ダイナザウラー "Dainazaurā".

We have some news not of the best kind for Australian fans, concerning Titans Return Titan class Trypticon - and Full Tilt with Titan Master Necro: retailer BigW has posted a listing on their site, stating the price for the figure at 298 AUSD (225 USD). However, not all is lost, as there are rumours of the figure also being part of this year's toy sale for the retailer, meaning the price might adjust to other international markets (150 USD RRP, to be specific).

The biggest Decepticon ever made is back with this awesome Transformers Titans Return Trypticon Figure! Trypticon . The towering T-Rex converts between 3 different modes: dino, spaceship, and city. When the figure is in city mode, it connects to Titans Return Leader Class figures (each sold separately) to form the giant Nemesis Command. When the figure is in T-Rex mode, it can "eat" Titan Master figures: Trypticon can chomp them down, then you can open his stomach to get them out. Comes with a Deluxe Class Full-Tilt figure and a Titan Master Decepticon Necro figure.

Online price
$ 298.00

Hot on the heels of the unfortunate retail price ($298 AUSD) for Titans Return Titan class Trypticon, Australian fan site Ozformers also confirms that the big purple Decepticon t-rex is in fact starting to crop up in physical BigW retail stores too! The sighting news also reiterates that the item may be discounted in the June sale for the chain, so if you can wait, it might be worth it. Check out the images below, and make sure to flag up this or any other sighting in our database!

We were tipped off yesterday that the very awesome Trypticon toy had now arrived in Australia, and that it was on its way to stores... well, we now have photo proof of Trypticon at a BigW store.

Just be aware that this toy is likely to be in the June toy sale at BigW later this month, so stores may hold onto it out the back until then... but, you might find it available for purchase at those stores that do put them straight out as soon as they get it.

Pretty high considering they had Fort Max for a while if I remember correctly. Although he is for pre-order elsewhere already, if you really want to jump on him.

HTS will likely carry it. I hope they do cuz that's probably the best bet for getting it quickly with a deal. Made the mistake of preordering FM and paying full price.

Oh, I already have preordered. I am still torn on whether I want to cancel the Pre-Order and go through HTS, with my coupon code. HTS stock is always hit and miss, hence my wondering out loud.

It may be movie season, but we also have plenty of other news to cover - and it's a big one today... Thanks to fellow Seibertronian ursinemagnus, we have a full, image-heavy review of the latest figure in the Trasformers Titans Return line, Titan class - that's right, Trypticon has landed! And he brought along Full-Tilt and Titan Master Necro, all visible in the images below, along with size comparisons to other classes in the line, previous Titan Metroplex, and plenty of shots of poses, accessories and features.

Check it all out below, and join the discussion in the Energon Pub!

Ok just so you're all aware from the beginning this is probably going to read a lil like a love letter. He is great, just great. I don’t know if you remember my review of Fort Max but I was a little lukewarm, he's since come to grow on me but that’s beside the point. There is so much to like about the new Titans Return Trypticon.

There are some figures that when you get them out the package really “feel” like the character, I’ve felt it before with figures like Titans Return Sixshot and Generations Springer, and Trypticon oozes that same vibe. He just feels like a big deal.

The three modes are all pretty solid in my opinion, much more distinct than with the previous Titan scale offerings. The ship mode actually looks like a ship (so long as you ignore the dino head on the back) on top of that it feels really massive compared to the others. What I like most about this mode is how much it pays tribute to the nemesis in Fall of Cybertron/Prime where it kinda looks like a dinosaur head. Being able to open the front like a big set of jaws to fit a deluxe size car adds to the playability of this mode as well.

The dino mode is tons of fun and really stable, he's even capable of standing with his tail off the ground for a more authentic Saurian look. With hips and ankle rockers he can throw some really dynamic and menacing shapes. His arms have a fairly free range of motion and the only added articulation I would have like would a wrist swivel just so he could grab and hold Titan Masters the right way up. His head can rate but only with canons raised, when they lay flat against his back they restrict the movement that largely exists for transformation. Both of the head gimmicks are cool, working in a head master gimmick to active the head gun is a nice touch and I honestly don't think I’ll ever get sick of feeding him Titan Masters.

The base mode refreshingly doesn’t look like a yoga nightmare and with it weird shapes and spires definitely looks like somewhere deceptions could call home. The two connectors for the base come down in front instead of to the side like Fortress Maximus so when you combine it with other leader bases it takes on a military stronghold vibe and less of a township like his Autobot counterpart. You can launch Full-Tilt down the ramp that runs along the center and in this mode you can still access the storage area from the ship mode. It feels like there's more surface area and the shape gives it a larger footprint so it feels like your getting a lot more play set space.

Full-Tilt feels more like a herald of Galatus than the keeper of the estate and he scales well with other deluxe class figure. I will say that most other heads look weird on him and make it look like whoever it is has a purple leotard on, fun but not practical for war. He has a great range of motion and a satisfyingly clever and simple transformation that helps him to integrate really nicely with Trypticon's chest.

I do have some minor grievances with some of the panels, namely the tail ramp flopping down and the chest panel with Full-Tilt attached not sitting flush, these of course may just be issues with my particular figure. What may be a drawback to some people is how he scales with the other titan class figures, he does stand a lot smaller side by side but he does feel like he has a very similar mass and even if it doesn’t come through in the photos in person you still get the feeling he could give Metroplex a run for his money. The Sticker sheet is out of control and took me two sittings, a pair of tweezers, some sweat and some tears. It’s worth time time though as those little details work together with the silver highlights in the paint job, and the details of the mould to give it some real visual interest and break up what is a massive toy.

If you haven’t been sold on this figure class before now I would say this is a great place to start.

PREPARE FOR INCOMING HUGE REVIEW. AND NOT EVEN OF TRYPTICON, THIS IS JUST FULL TILT. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GIVE A MAN A SINGLE TOY, THREE HOURS AND A MESSAGEBOARD.

And now, to add to the number of people who have claimed Trypticon as their own, I grabbed one for myself before work this morning! Suffice to say I can't open or play with the big guy yet, but that just means I can focus more on the other things that would've been overshadowed had I tried to give thoughts about all of them at once.

Things like, the box:
Image
(It claims that there's one figure inside, which is kinda wrong however you look at it.)

The collector's card:
Image
Image
(Still nowhere near as strong as Alpha Trion though. (I'm also hesitant to believe that a robot dinosaur the size of an entire city would have nearly 1.5x Blurr's speed.))

The sticker sheet:
Image
(At a glance, I believe there were upwards of 160 stickers! This is gonna take a while...)

The fact that Full Tilt is packaged slotted into Tryp already, making him really hard and really scary to get out without freeing the main attraction as well:
Image
(Seriously, do not try to extract Full Tilt while leaving Trypticon in the package. It felt awful and I'm pretty sure I got really lucky not breaking anything (to my knowledge). Also Necro comes already sitting inside Full Tilt, which is kinda cute and a fun surprise. Like a Kinder egg, except the egg is a plastic toy too!)

And Full Tilt himself:
Image

So, for a quick "review" of Full Tilt. Starting from vehicle mode he's pretty nice looking, even if I'm not too fond of the 'two-pronged-car' look in general. It looks suitably non-Earthlike and in fact has what's usually one of my favorite things to see in non-Earth TF vehicles - a lack of any real 'cockpit' area, instead opting for the general shape of a canopy but done up in the same opaque purple as the rest of the toy. (Kind of ironic seeing as this is the one line where Cybertronian vehicles having cockpits would actually make some sense for once.) On the subject of the colors there's no paint to speak of, but the matching of the 'regular' and 'stress-resistant' plastics is quite good, for better or worse since it means that he really is one single color all over.

Image

As you can see he's a little small next to Topspin (the only other TF I have on hand right now), which means he's basically exactly Deluxe size.

Image

Necro is purple. (In all seriousness there's not much to say; he's your standard Titan Master, with maybe sliiightly looser shoulder joints thank I'd like, but still nowhere near as bad as GXort's were.

Image

Full Tilt has, as far as I can tell, two TM pegs, one on each side by the cockpit. (The cockpit itself does its job perfectly well, but there's really not much to say about it. It holds a Titan Master, yay. It does blend into the vehicle mode's shapes really well though - until I had him in hand I wasn't even 100% sure where the cockpit was, or if he even had one!)

Image
Image

Transformation was actually considerably more involved than I was expecting! I mean it's nothing incredible and I'd still be fairly underwhelmed if I saw it on a regular Deluxe figure, but it had one or two little details that I wasn't expecting. (Worth noting also, that Necro is pretty tough to get pegged into the neck, on my copy at least. Not scarily so though, and all it means is that Full Tilt suffers no bobble-head issues in robot mode.) And once it's done, you end up with an extremely purple robot!

Image

Same applies as in vehicle mode; slightly smaller than Topspin, therefore exact Deluxe size. I imagine he's pretty much the same general mass and volume as Perceptor, though I can't check that right now. The near-unbroken-single-color thing works a lot better for him than it did for Blurr, IMO - maybe it's just because it's such a delicious purple this time but he just pulls the look off really well! :x

He has a decent range of articulation, but it's severely undercut by the fact that his feet are totally flat to the ground. People can say what they like about cut A-stances on their Transformers' feet, but they really do help with making posing not feel awful at least. He just always feels wobbly, and like he's going to tip over - even standing straight but with his legs a fraction of a degree apart makes him feel extremely precarious. I guess it's true that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone. He looks pretty great once he's posed, though - even with my amateurish attempts!

Image

On top of moving well, almost all of his joints are nice and tight, but not scarily so! I say almost because his backpack is comprised of two separate pieces that rotate around the same pin - they have really great friction against each other, but are both extremely loose on the main joint they're connected to, if that makes sense. Basically it means that his backpack just flippy-floops all around, but luckily it gets held down by gravity most of the time (as long as he's not actually upside-down it shouldn't cause an issue). It's also probably just an issue on mine too, so suffice to say he's really satisfying to pose since he holds everything so well. (Except that those feet ruin it. Urgh. :BANG_HEAD: )

(Unrelated-to-anything side note: his arms really remind me of smaller versions of CW/UW Scrapper's. I don't have any particular feelings on that, it's just a really strong connection that I'm feeling here and I felt the need to comment on it.)

Thanks to the extra few transformation tricks I mentioned above (the particular one I refer to here is basically the same concept as the CW Dead End mold's calf transformation), Full Tilt's calves end up being covered from all four sides, which means he looks great from basically any angle! Even, dare I say it, I almost think he looks better from the back than from the front, and that's not an insult to how he looks front-on! I just love the way the back looks, for some indiscernible reason.

Image

And that about wraps it up, I think. Holy cow that was long. I really did not think I had that much to say about one single (fairly plain, all things considered) figure. Long story short, he looks fantastic and is pretty decent on his own, albeit with a few shortcomings that make him a little less fun than I'd have liked. If I were to buy him as a regular Deluxe figure, at full Deluxe price, I'd probably feel pretty underwhelmed even though he's actually quite decent from an objective standpoint. (And I do like him! I'd put him at least equal with Cerebros, his packed-with-a-Titan buddy, if not higher since he can actually function as a self-sufficient Transformer. He just... doesn't feel quite up to scratch for the size-class he's approximating.) But he's not a standalone item, is he? Coming whenever I get around to it: the big guy...

(Bonus head-swap with Topspin! Yeah, he doesn't look great with Freezeout - and I'm gonna guess, probably the same with just about any TM that's not primarily purple, so maybe Apeface'll be good on him? But it looks like Necro's gonna be fantastic on a lot of bots, if his combination with Topspin is anything to go by!)

Haha, I'm not even close to a city-slicker! I just happened to get lucky that my nearby Big W (about 15km away) opens a full hour before my work day starts. I literally walked in there as they opened the roller doors for the day, nipped back out with the dino, and had a few minutes to spare between arriving at work and actually starting work in which I could bust open Full Tilt and stare longingly at the rest.

(Actually I was really desperate to get in right as they opened instead of going after work; I'd enquired on Tuesday and the guy told me he knew what I was talking about, that they only had one, and that they weren't allowed to put it out before Thursday morning, so to get there straight away to make sure I didn't miss out. I got there this morning five minutes before the store opened, searched desperately among the 'Toy Sale' shelves for a good few minutes, and finally found it... along with 5 others. They got me to panic-purchase, those sneaky sneakers. )

15km's is just around the corner compared to 90km's. :-P

Ahh, very true. I guess just about anything counts as 'city slicking' at that point

Well, when you consider that each of Trypticon's steps is a mile and a half....

Awesome pics and review! ;)^

Courtesy of fellow Seibertronian Qwan - another resident Australian - we have an addendum to the full review of Titans Return Titan Class Trypticon, as covered here. This time around, we have an in-depth look at the purple partner in crime of the dino-base-ship: Full-Tilt! Check it out below.

Qwan wrote:PREPARE FOR INCOMING HUGE REVIEW.
