Is there a difference between tech and sci fi? Because so far I am seeing some sci fi, especially with scattershot and strafe.

Is it Afterburner that is tipping the scale? He seems to be the one member Hasbro is getting the same way. Though I do wonder if Hasbro will be changing his head as well.

Well, there's probably going to be little difference between the afterburners, but the TT computron 'may' have more/better paint apps - a long shot, I know - but the new Scattershot parts, the new combiner head, the new guns, the rook mold, which looks solid (and is based off of a solid figure), over all, it feels like WAY more effort was put into the TT one.
The hasbro one feels slapped together at the last minute; I get the point of the mold re-use was to be safe with the investment, but the line has more than paid for itself already, why couldn't hasbro give us more remolded parts - or wheeljack's figure? I feel like the hands, feet, and Scrounge are their way of saying sorry for being lazy/uninterested in really making him stand out

It's probably going to be the paint job that makes it techy not just the remolded parts.
Lets just wait until we see the painted results before going like "It's shit".

But this Computron...everything so far points to it being the same kind of choice as Hasbro vs Takara Devastator: one is decent, and the other is perfect. The pricing is for the decent one is decent, and the added value of the perfect one makes it a worthy purchase if you can spare some extra cash. The decent one will fill the needs of those who only want to display Combiners, and the perfect one will have all kinds of bells and whistles for man-children (and lady-girls, mustn't forget political correctness).
Either way...Count me in, Takara!!!

He looks good in robot mode, and the weapons are awesome. My biggest issues are with his vehicle mode. The canopy should be up and over the seat; like many have said, Generations Chromia does this perfectly. As it is, Afterburner's altmode looks goofy. The canopy is covering up the handlebars, which, by the way, shouldn't be there. Nor should spokes on his wheels. He just looks like an ordinary Earth motorcycle with an oddly placed canopy/windscreen. A little let down by that. Hopefully we'll see the other Technobots soon.
I get where your coming from, but at the same time I'm also hoping Yuki-san posts a pic of TFCC Marissa Fairborn riding this Afterburner. But yea, I always saw Afterburner as more of a 2 wheeled tank rather than a standard motorcycle.

I'm not sure what my opinion on Bruticus versions is, I'd like to see Blast Off in person. But I remember comments about a preference for a fighter plane for Blast Off over a space shuttle. So, I suppose for some people, Hasbro's Bruticus would win over Takara's.

I think what Takara did for UW Bruticus when it comes to his feet is an example of G1 accuracy failing us.

I would agree, but then why was the update kit below praised so highly when it did something similar?
To me a bigger problem is with the current MPs, which are a bit bland on their surfaces due to wanting to achieve the G1 show aesthetic.

Honestly, I'm not sure that's related. The update was praised for Onslaught mostly. The parts had to be that color scheme due to how that particular Bruticus transformed.

But in the end arent both cases of adding on feet that are colour coordinated with the legs? The way Bruticus transforms in the show is that Swindle and Brawl become legs and feet, like FOC Bruticus. Since the CW toy could not replicate that transformation, they tab on feet that are colour coded to mimick that idea that both are part of their coresponding legs/robots. Its a fake part add on similar to the chest of UW bruticus which imitates being a part from Blastoff.

Because that's how the game model looked. And because the game design was subtle about it and didn't utilize parts-forming, therefore the 'feet' had to be within the color scheme of that particular character as they were protrusions from the body of the vehicles instead of actual feet. Even if you don't get the 3p add on kit, the feet are color coded already, there is no tabbing on of fake feet; TT didn't have to be that show accurate

I can say the exact same for the show model of G1 Bruticus, I dont see how one is different than the other.

Because one was intentional and well done, the other is a 30 year old lazily/hastily drawn piece of crap drawn that way for efficiencies sake, not exactly something anyone should be setting much store by for inspiration. Note that the game didn't include parts, everything was stored within his body - and must be colored as such - whereas the show didn't

Well, if they are released in October, it'll be at the end of the month like the rest - I think - so it'll be well into November before you actually get them

Wi-fi High Five
Surely that'd be a 'Wi-five'
I also agree. Not everything on those G1 animation models should be followed-some of it was god awful! UW Brute's feet are too small, making the 'intergrated look' fail, and it also ruins the scramble aspect-something UW/CW was specifically designed for!!
And Will, my good man, what's good for the goose is not always good for the gander. Gotta size up each decision on an individual basis.

Thats a myth, Takara prices are the same and not related to the amount of paint.
When it comes to the CW toys, paint has had little to do with it. Hasbro and Takara seem to have different paint apps but one doesnt necessarily have more than the other. And prices are the same as well so you arent paying more money. Especially when BBTS was selling onslaught for 30$ and up. You just pay more shipping depending on where you live, but thats the same with hasbro.
