Eh, matter of perception. The same people who made this a bad film also vote vampires and zombies consistently the best, so it is simply their bias.

As it is, they're a curious, yet unnecessary, set of oddities I don't really need, but as toys, they would be attractive.

I understand what you mean, but what draws me away is the price of these statues.
The price is so unbelievably high for what you get out it.
If it was $600, than I might consider buying it.

$600 for a non-transforming Transformer? That's half a mortgage payment for something that doesn't actually do anything! Tell you what . . . you give me $600 and you can have the satisfaction of knowing you helped me plug some holes in my collection.

Well I have bought Hot Toys Optimus Prime for 350 and it didn't seem like a complete waste to me XD

Exactly! You can buy a whole bunch of the Masterpieces for that price, and they actually Transform! If they wanted to do something above and beyond for die hard collectors, I'd personally prefer something with an intricate, super-detailed paint job on a Transformable, Masterpiece-like figure e.g. worn paint, metallic, rust spots, etc.

The purpose to be more like a new take on G1. They use similar looks, but newer styles, if that answers your question

... but goddammit, I wish this is how he looked in the movies. It's such a cool design; it adds realism to the base idea and concept while adding a lot of new and streamlined elements without deviating too far from it. You can look at it and easily see Optimus Prime but also feel something very new and different about it.

I am so sick of these super high quality Statues coming out. I mean if Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece lines have taught us anything, it is that you can have statue quality looks, and still have playability and pose ability all in one, without the need for a high priced "breakable" statue. I mean, Resin is not a suitable alternative to straight plastic, as Resin can crumble and deteriorate over time, much more so then a good quality plastic..
Now don't get me wrong, I love the look and the design, and I do agree partly with some that the Movie Transformers live action could have looked like this, but Then again, the Bayformers Optimus Prime has grown on me, along with the fact that Peter Cullen was the voice, and to me, if Peter puts his name and talent to it, then it's Optimus For me..
Anyhow, I would rather have this as a full formed, plastic and diecast action figure with LED.. then pay for a static, or even if it was a poseable statue..who needs a Statue when you have Masterpiece Transformers, or some really cool action figures of them like the Ex Gokin, or the Pat Lee inspired and Dream Wave looking Ori Toy Optimus Prime.. Examples below:
and this is Definitely a Dream Wave version of Optimus, which I will get because the materials and the style will go great as a display in front of my Dream Wave Comic collection..
I know, I know, the Revoltech is much more in line with the Pat Lee works..
but I really hope they make this guy at least the scale of MP-10.. smaller like the Gokin figures would suck..
However, what gives me hope for the Gokin Optimus is that we could be seeing a cartoon accurate Megs like this below coming.. and I will want them both for display with my Transformers DVD collection..
But as far as another "Statue" goes.. No.. I don't want that.. Boring.. and With Kids, or pets.. too much money for something that will just take up space and is easily broken..

I would question this one in particular... Sure it's kinda cool looking. Like the guy on the previous page said, it would be pretty awesome if this is what the Bay movies gave us for an updated Prime. Or even if this was a transforming figure, I could see major appeal in it. But as it is, a thousand dollar statue of a design that really has no place... Other than having more money and space than you know what to do with...why would someone buy this?

I really do not know. I cannot afford these nor really have the inclination to, but who knows. Maye the high cost is because it is built in small numbers for a select few

Waste of Money IMHPOV why buy that when for the money you can get Masterpieces, or even the Wei Jiang Oversized MPP10? That figure is so much better.. but a super high end stylized Optimus Prime....?? Nah.. Pass.. Prime 1 Studios would do better to release their ultra detailed and high end sculpted figures in a Hot Toys 1/6 (12 Inch) action figures with LED light up features in Plastic and Diecast.. I would buy this with a price point of 200.00.
Or the same with their bayformers line.. But as is..
Not worth the cost. even if you're a Prime fan like myself, this is just excess, and not really worth it. I can only see this fetching a value below asking price in the future.. it's just not a figure that appeals to a large variety of masses. they could get more from their talents if they made a higher production run, with a smaller scale and full articulation.
There is a reason Hot Toys figures are so successful..

At least the EX Gokin line had the right idea, as does the upcoming (way over priced) Soap Studio sofubi stuff, but I just don't understand why the higher end stuff has to keep going off the rails. Surely there's more money to be made in making iconic versions over unique designs.

I agree about the comments regarding the "high end statues" that are very fragile. Not sure who they appeal to really. I only know one friend who collects these expensive Transformers display pieces.
I was turned off by statues 15 years ago when Hard Hero sent me a couple of the Optimus Prime statue busts they did. They sent me two, if I recall correctly. One for a contest prize on Seibertron.com, and then an artist proof for myself to say "thanks for promoting them". It was the first time a company had ever sent me a "sample" of something. Unfortunately, my excitement turned to disappointment when one of the antenna snapped off while removing the bust from the package. That was the first and only time that I have ever handled a statue collectible. I'd rather take my chances with GPS.

IIRC the Hard Hero statues were cold-cast porcelain, which is notoriously fragile. Most statues are made of PVC or something similar, which is far more substantial.
