Thanks to a heads up from Seibertronian watchdog Shajaki, we have news that the newly revealed MP-36+ toy inspired Megatron has finally been listed up for pre-order!
The pre-orders come to us from various sponsor sites, with the standard price coming to $249.99, the same price as Dinobot, and $20 more than the original MP-36. Now while the pre-orders have been listed, there is no indication as to what will come with the new figure, seeing as how at the moment BigBadToyStore only says the Megatron figure is included in the set and the TFsource listing only states that he is based on his original toy appearance. Considering he is an exclusive, there is a chance he may come with limited to no accessories, and also a chance that he will come with more, but only time will well.
Let us know what you think of the price for the new MP-36+ below!

Crossing my fingers that he comes with comic and/or concept art head just for fun along with the original faces.

I don't believe it actually depicts MP-36+, who appears to have no images on either BBTS or TFSource yet - it may well be a picture of that very KO, though I couldn't say for sure.
the ko didn't have red on the inside of the arms and legs, so its not the ko. plus this image was shown on a official takara reveal image....

Ohh, yeah you're right! As is totally obvious now, I haven't been following MP-36 and his releases very much
Hum, I guess you could phrase it as Takara taking parts from a KO. Personally though, I think it's more likely that Takara decided to do these parts since they're toy-accurate (for the toy-accurate release of the mold), and since it and the KO draw from the exact same source material they look very similar. I highly doubt Takara would actually knock off the parts from the KO.

Exactly what I was thinking. We've seen it with MPM Barricade having the KO released at the same time as the real one and we've seen an OSKO prototype of TF6 MPM VW Bumblebee before the figure has even been announced. The KO companies are getting more proficient at sneaking these figures out of the factory, that's all there is to it.

but the ko apparently took those parts from a 3rd party upgrade kit, so either we are calling a 3rd party thieves, or takara ko'd a ko of a 3rd party kit.

Or they look very similar because they are based on the exact same G1 design.

Why would Takara want or need to knock off anything?!
The theroy of these parts being pretooled along with the original release, and then hiested by Chinese factory thieves is the simplest explanation. There for the most logical one.

1) Both the KO and 36+ toy faces are each original pieces, but extremely similar given the source, and we'd confirm once both were side by side, or
2) The pretool theory, they are the same and was originated from Takara.
Honestly at the time, I just looked at it and went "huh" and went with theory #1 and didn't give it any thought beyond that. But Takara stealing a KO's work? I find that unlikely.

Emphasis on stealing, as that could potentially could land TakaraTomy in legal hot water. "What's the worst that could happen" (Google it), stealing from the thief is still stealing.

One notable feature shared with the previous version version of this mold, is the inclusion of sound and voice clips by Megatron's Japanese G1 voice actor. It does not seem to include any of the other accessories that the original (toon-accurate) version has.
So what do YOU think, fellow Seibertronians? Do these pictures whet your appetite for this figure? If they do, you can use the handy links below to pre-order this bad boy. Even if you don't plan on getting him, let us know what you think!

Also, I think he will come with some accessories. He has an alternate head and chest in this shot.

They look a bit metallic. Did the previous release have metallic parts?

Unless the lighting is off, the helmet part of that face is a different color than the one on MP-36. This is very cool. If this and the new Shockwave were the first versions to come out, I would have totally bought them. But, I can't drop the same money on these all over again.

They look different to me. It means Takara didnt copy anything. And it makessense taht they are similar since both the KO and Takara are pooling from the same source, being the G1 toy.

I'm actually willing to bet that the KO toy face is the same and the 36+. It and the new chest are freakishly similar. These new pics are higher res and such, but are still too small to make out the finer details. On the 36+ face, there's a lot more black added which makes it difficult to confirm. Here's a better pics of the KO though.william-james88 wrote:They look different to me. It means Takara didnt copy anything. kyano13neo shared an image from the toy show, on Twitter, where we see him next to the G1 toy counterpart which is not as shiny since this MP 36 + is based on the Hasbro G1 toy (and thus, the Takara 16-S release of G1 Megatron).

Alternatively you could also say it's the Microman version which also had the chrome. The one in the photo is the Chronicles figure from Dark of the Moon with selective sticker application (including the chest sticker over the tampograph). The original G1 Japanese release was based on a Microman variant that replaced the red plastic with blue while 16-S was chromed like Hasbro's.

Also interesting that for Bomb-Burst, they mention his Masterforce counterpart Blood by name.
But this is the Masterpiece G1 Megatron thread, so I'll stop right there.
