The others look cool, too, but not too exciting. I like that they're doing Omnibots, but I'm not sure if those are the best molds to use for them.

And maybe you'd have to both love the '88 toyline more than any other year of TF, and just happen to have received him and no other Decepticon for Christmas that year to feel this way, but I'd really much rather have Grimwing repainted into Flamefeather. Yes, it'd be pretty close to Darksteel, but FF stood proud and...well...short for 2 and a half decades as the closest thing to a Transformer gryphon before that Ursagryph mold came in for the tie, so he's due.
Maybe a head remold will sell me on it being Silverbolt, but Tigerhawk would honestly work a bit better.
I hope these are all in the works because they look worthwhile...except Autobot Drift Black Version. Maybe not the exact same idea as SG Drift, but still redundant.

It's a poll/vote to determine the next Million Publishing Generations figure.

Before Transformers the G1 Sunstreaker toy was released in Diaclone in two variants: red and the white "Police Type". It's the white one that this choice is based on.
Remove the Superchanger and switch the head, and he could double as either RiD Prowl or eHobby Clamp Down

Downshift was a flying car as well, Camshaft had the rear weapon deployment. It helps to know that in Japan their names are switched (so Downshift is silver, Camshaft is white). Downshift being a silver Ironhide may have its roots in RiD X-Brawn.

Just makes me want to go out and buy a Universe (2008) Onslaught and get it customized into the Fallen...
Posted by Sabrblade on May 14th, 2014 @ 9:57am CDT
But I'm scratching my head at a few of these ideas: The Fallen from FOC Onslaught, G2 Smokescreen from Universe Smokescreen, Drift Black Ver., Goshooter from Nightbeat.

Alpha Trion using the Generations Scourge mold-
i have the old botcon version, but i could see him being replaced by this. might look strange with devcon sharing the mold now.
Smokescreen using the Universe Smokescreen mold-
its be cool to have a smokescreen to go with dreadwind(wing?) even if it is a car instead of another plane mold.
Beast Wars Silverbolt using the Beast Hunters Grimwing mold-
i have no idea where he's go in my collection, but id be down. loves me some beast wars.

I like the Omnibots, but I REALLY don't like the Universe Ironhide/Ratchet mold, even if it does evoke Cam...(?!)-shift more than I thought possible.
And I agree, the FOC Fallen choice is just odd. Who would he logically combine with? Just the other Combaticons painted black with purple highlights and said to be random corpses reanimated by dark energon? Hmmmm, now that I think about it, that would be a bit more appealing than some of the new Kreon gestalt teams we're getting...super-evil dude keeps tacking corpses onto himself like Leviathan or...Legion! Yeah, let's redeem that name from being just Fandom's worst memory of Kiss Players!

I'd rather Downshift still feel at least a little like the old Celica/Supra, not Ironhide.
Still, if they make them, I'll get all three.

For transformation you'd spin it around at the new joint above the hinge and end up putting the windshield over the clasp for the large sword/gun that's supposed to be on the back. You'd also spin the arms around 180 degrees so that the elbows bend the correct way (the wheels on the inside of the arms don't get in the way), switch the fist and turn the head. What this all would accomplish is make the car front shoulder kibble point forward kinda like the IDW Bumblebee/Nightbeat mold. While it's not quite a car front on the chest like it's supposed to be, it's the visual cues in robot mode along with what the alt mode can do that will make this.
In alt mode, if you detach the doors and lower them down and fold over the windows, they look like wings. They also happen to be in the correct location of the wings of G1 Overdrive. If they're really feeling inventive, there is a lot of room under the front of the car where the head is for some type of weapon to be stored there that can be deployed if you open up the front end like you're transforming it for robot mode. That new weapon can also be deployed over the chest in robot mode making it look even more like the G1 version. As a bonus, having the arms backwards means the shoulder kibble would move above the head instead of below when you move the arms forward so that they're out of the way and no longer bump into the back of the figure.
Those of you with a shattered glass Drift (or regular or Blurr) could switch the arms at the shoulders to better see what I'm getting at.
Camshaft aka Downshift as Wheeljack can only be more perfect if it was a new mold dedicated to the character.
Downshift aka Camshaft as Ironhide though, is different. Someone said that it could homage X-Brawn and if that's the case it's fine so long as they're using the shattered glass Soundwave retool. However that is unlikely as the Asian three pack releases of Ironhide and Ratchet don't seem to. If it's not meant to be an homage then Classics Bumblebee might be a better choice. The arms can be deployed in car mode like the G1 toy and they could even retool the jet ski into a missile pack that can attach to the spoiler of the car mode.
Alpha Trion looks amazing.
FoC Fallen, too small. I'd rather see the new "leader" class Megatron redid as the Fallen without even having seen the mold yet. Someone said to use the Universe Onslaught mold instead. Maybe that's something that could be done soon as the company that did the ko for that mold is making repaints and retools based on different characters. They're currently doing Strika and Impactor retools of it and plan on doing more.
Sunstreaker police type, meh. Cool but uninteresting.
Smokescreen, if that's meant to be the G2 version then why not just use Energon Starscream? Or any deluxe jet for that matter. I'd rather an Alternators Smokescreen than a G2 Decepticon Smokescreen from the Classics/Universe mold or you know, blue Bluestreak.
Deadlock/Decepticon Drift, meh again.
Beast Hunters Silverbolt, awesome. Give me BW and Universe colors and Tigerhawk and Razorclaw retools. Oh and Windrazor too.
Goshooter is kinda cool I guess. It's more than a "meh" anyway.

On BotCon Soundwave it's not the neck joint that was retooled, rather the head was designed to permanently "look up", thus offsetting the slanted joint problem that plagues the mold.

I think using the Decepticon Jet deco on his Autobot namesake is rather clever in a twisted sort of way. Makes good food for nonsensical bios

I totally called Wheeljack as a potential Omnibot mold when it first came out. The other molds seem a little stretched though.
Go-Shuta looks okay. I'd love to see a new mold for Nightbeat/Go-Shuta/Minerva (with a retooled head and torso) (and yes, I know Nightbeat and Go-Shuta transformed in opposite directions, I don't care) (apparently I talk in brackets now)
Posted by T-Macksimus on May 14th, 2014 @ 8:26pm CDT
And yes, I'm quite aware that they used molds over again back in the original series but way back then there was this thing called moderation. Nowadays, they go absolutely ape-sh** cranking out repaint after repaint of any given mold and it's just sickening and insulting.

Show some respect for the characters by either giving them their own new molds or don't even bother trying.

Well Million Publishing doesn't have the budget to crank out a new mold so the options are basically: a repaint that is a character that has very low odds of getting its own mold or literally nothing. And I'm sure there are a bunch of people who would rather have and Alpha Trion or Go-shuta who is a repaint than none at all.
And the thing with repaints, Hasbro or otherwise, is that no-one is forcing you to buy them. Are they taking up space on shelves and blocking production of new molds? Quite the converse; Hasbro have established time and time again that using repaints lets them stretch the same mold budget further and produce more new molds.
In addition, Hasbro are getting increasingly smart about doing repaints better. Alternate headsculpts? Great idea.
I'd love to see new molds for all characters. But if it's a choice between getting a smartly done repaint or nothing at all, I'll pick the former.
Posted by shajaki on May 14th, 2014 @ 10:47pm CDT
yes. in the past their reuse of molds have been quite lazy. just simply repaints. but lately theyve been giving us new heads to boot. which may not sound like much, but it goes leaps and bounds to please me at least.Diem wrote:In addition, Hasbro are getting increasingly smart about doing repaints better. Fellow user BraveMax wrote the following about the info Snakas wrote:
BraveMax wrote:Snakas has more info up. This is from the Generations Book to be released this weekend. It's a vote for the next book's exclusive, who will figure prominently into part two of the "Train Wars" story. You vote for it when you send in the post card to buy Shouki.
These are all mockups (photoshops, I think), so some will vary from the final product.
Going down the list; his comments with addendums from what I can make out from the pic. I've got the book incoming soon, so I'll update when I get it in hand:
1. Alpha Trion from Scourge. Will come with Vector Sigma. The rest of it is hard for me to understand - I think it says the Vector Sigma will be a repaint of a Sparkbot? That or "the Vector Sigma that appropriated the Sparkbots" - so maybe some reference to a specific story?
2.The Fallen from FOC Onslaught. The combined mode head will be Ruination's, not Bruticus'.
3. Sunstreaker (Police Type) from Sunstreaker. It notes that this name is a placeholder, and says that he'll come with sirens and a partner.
4. Smokescreen from Smokescreen. Notes that it's using the same colors as the G2 Bomber - as in, the text below the picture does. So... Making that reference official?
5. Autobot Drift (Black Version) from Drift. Notes that this name is a placeholder.
6. Overdrive from Prowl. No notes.
7. Camshaft from Wheeljack. Notes that Tracks' weapons will also be included. (Snakas says it will use Tracks' weapons, but the picture says that "Tracks' parts will also be included.")
8. Downshift from Ironhide. No notes.
9. Metals Silverbolt from BH Grimwing. No notes.
10。GoShooter from "Goldbug Bumblebee" (IDW Bumblebee). Says the head will be Nightbeat's, and that it will come with his partner, Gou Shuuta, but that they haven't decided what toy that will be yet.
Snakas also notes that they're planning on including Microns and other forms of partners with all of these, though I haven't found that info in the pic yet.
Posted by Jelze Bunnycat on May 15th, 2014 @ 9:34am CDT
1. The Sparkbots may refer to the Kiss Players Sparkbots, who are repaints of the BWII EggBeasts. All three transform into spheres, the exact shape of Vector Sigma. I think the EggBot is the most natural form Vector Sigma will take after transformation.
2. Ruination's head has the same kind of "mouth" as Dreamwave's The Fallen. So that could give way for possibilities, like the combination mentioned before.
6. So Overdrive comes with a lightbar? Odd.
7. I wonder which Tracks parts they'd use? The back and bumper bits?
10. Can't wait to see what they'll pick. If Daniel is anything to go by, probably another PCC Mini-Con.
Posted by Sabrblade on May 15th, 2014 @ 9:39am CDT

It's a Japanese Publishing company, so no. Maybe Hasbro or even the Club will take of the less complex ideas (SG Smokescreen anyone?)

Possibly. They sold the Skids and Screech 2 pack a little while ago.

Short answer, no. Long answer: Million Publishing are a Japanese company that publishes TF art books, as well as these Generations books, which are in-depth guides to TF product. They offer exclusives like this which, even in Japan, can only be purchased by buying the book, mailing in a post card that comes in the book, and waiting several months. As such, there certainly isn't an easy shortcut for those outside of Japan to get them.
