Possible First Look at Transformers: Age of Extinction Drift Robot Mode

We have what could be our first glimpse of Transformers: Age of Extinction's Drift from a bit of an unlikely source. The popwars Instagram account has posted an image featuring a trio of Funko style prototypes, which they are referencing as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Drift. Prime and Bee are obvious, but the third character they've labeled Drift is all new. As you can see the figure has a Samurai styled appearance, and early script rumors did describe Drift as a Samurai type character. These type figures are of course very stylized, but this may be our first look at Drift in robot mode none the less.

"Drift" looks so simplistic compared to Optimus and Bumblebee there I kinda doubt he's really part of Transformers. I mean, I really wouldn't mind TF4 taking a simpler aesthetic, but seeing how Optimus and BB totally aren't I can't help but think "Drift" was pulled from some unrelated samurai line.
Also, I really hope final Optimus doesn't have a derpy spaced-out expression he seems to have here.

Looks smooth to me, especially when compared to the other 2 unpainted prototypes next to it. I can see plenty of intricate detail on them.

Even with Photoshop this "Drift" has a mere fraction of the detail that OP and BB have -- and they're all supposedly from the same movie and presumably at the same stage of development as each other. "Drift's" feet are kinda at that level, but everything else is so smooth and un-Bay-like I'm finding it hard to believe he's really part of the AoE line. A Prime, Animated, G1 character? Sure. Bayverse? Nah...

You'll see that on 99% of the internet, my friend. Or at least where comments can be made. And frankly, this site is really tame with negativity, I've seen way worse elsewhere. Bottom line, you can never please everyone, all the time. All one can do limit the impact and severity, starting by oneself

All that said, I'm willing to give this Drift a chance since it's a new character who isn't the same guy as G1 Drift (whom I don't hate either, but instead find to be just generic and unspecial), so he's starting with a clean slate.

After the sneak peek from a couple of days ago, an eBay auction has appeared, offering the Optimus Prime figure out of the three white figurines. The auction has already ended, but it's possible that Bumblebee and Drift may make their appearance soon too - in the meantime, check out the mirrored images of the Autobot leader below!

This at least proved to me my statement that without the coloration and head, he's almost totally unrecognisable. My friend couldn't recognise him at all, and even I can't even see him in his head, reminds me more of Movieverse's Soundwave's to me, in a way. Not that that's nessecarilly a bad thing, of course. It is here, though, in my opinion. 
Oh well, might not be that happy here, but some of the designs are my only gripes so far. Still more excited than I've been for the last three!

Drift still looks like he's from a different line...
Obviously he's an "authentic" Transformer and all, but you could repaint that figure as Shredder or any other armored samurai character and no one would know the difference.

Walmart.com has a new listing for a gift set that includes a couple new exlusive Funko Pop! Vinyl Age of Extinction Bumblebee w/weapon and Stinger vinyls. Unfortunately on the website they are not available individually but in a gift set with Optimus Prime and Drift. You can check out our very detailed galleries of Funko Pop!
