After this wave being out in Asia, it has finally reached the west and we have a pictorial review of one of the most anticipated figures in this wave, Windblade.

This new Windblade sits at different extremes makes her end up quite average in the end. Compared to previous 1 blades I would say this is the best-looking one. She has as much paint as I would need especially in her face, which is gorgeous, with a really nice Sarah Stone look and the best detail we have seen so far in the west.

I like how slender yet tall she is, she stands perfectly fine and has a decent heft to her. She is four more fun to pose than any of the previous Winblades and her alt mode is also slender (unlike the chubby RID one) and doesn't have gaps the same size as the first one (yet there are some gaps still there). So in all these points she is definitely the best of the three so far.

However when it comes to other aspects she ends up at the end. For instance, the weapons. I know that Hasbro really wants to integrate the Titan Masters into these but adding that to a sword takes away the slender aspect of the weapon. They end up looking much bigger than you would be used to and definitely odd. Plus, that you can do with a Titan master doesn't look good anyway as you can see in the image below. that combined form which sits on top of the cockpit just ends up looking silly.

I also have a major issue with the fact that this is the third wind blade and they are still sticking to a very similar transformation where once again to hands are left in the open. I realize that it's because they want more slender four arms for a female robot which means that you can hide yours within the within the forearm you can try something else. That would have added a lot of innovation to a toy which ends up being very plain in the transformation department.

The transformation is my main beef with toy, it is very very simple. The fact that the head does not need to be hidden removes some steps and ingenuity. And since the hands are not hidden you end up losing that transformation step to making both Scourge and Highbrow, who have a similar transformation, seem a tad bit more complex. So the added fact that this is a reused and simplified transformation along with the fact that if uses a similar transformation to previous Windblades make that aspect of the toy very dull.

Her eyes look spooky at certain angles but what an amazingly detailed figure. The alt mode is perfect and those swords are awesome!

And TM Optimus Primal and Toraizer. Well, whatever he's referring to it'll be leaked before it's officially announced.

Windblade looks great! Can the swords be mounted backwards in jet mode to look more like guns?

Doctor Wu. Make some swords supposedly designed for Windblade, the "Drift" sword just about every Maketoys came with for a while might work too.

Speaking of those swords though - anyone know why they are selling a pair of normal looking swords as accessories for her - does she use them in a comic or something ?

Otherwise lending her the RID or Generation's toy's sword seems quite logical. I may buy the white Dr. Wu Swords anyway as they might suit Bludgeon or Drift pretty well too.

Assuming I ever find a Warrior Class Bludgeon that is.

Nah, she hasn't used them in the comic -- or anything else for that matter. It's been quite a confusing point for a while.

I can only imagine they're going to be some ultra-powerful super-duper weapon she gets in the Titans Return Machinima cartoon.

Windblade looks pretty good! The jet mode looks absolutely great, and the robot mode is nice looking too. Her shoulder/neck area looks a bit weird but that could just be certain photos. The transformation looks annoyingly simple but hey, if it works, it works.

The thing that annoys me the most is those swords. Quite aside from the fact they look nothing like her normal sword, who puts a seat on a sword!?!?. They'll be going to someone else methinks.

Not really a fan of Windblade just because of the whole "fan vote" aspect...

anyway, I hope there is no BB in PotP, he's getting his own flippin' movie. TBH , I don't know how they can make a whole toy line out of this, I guess a dozen or so different BB's? But there's been no indication that there will be any other bots or cons in the film, so not exactly sure how that's going to work.

Charizard is shoved in people' s faces all the time and they don't like him? New to Pokemon scene as my boys are interested. Not any of our favorites, but acceptable to us.

I don't mind Windblade. I expect to see her added to the line action movies at some point. Drift as been made into less of a generations toy character and more of an RID, and movie character, minus MTMTE/LL, of course.

Due to some new forms and stuff it got a few years ago, Charizard enjoyed a ridiculously huge marketing campaign; not to mention said forms and stuff it got was far more than its fellow starters. Got quite a bit of 'ugh'ing and sighing from a fair portion of the fanbase.
Though then, of course, a lot of that's due to the whole "It's popular and everyone else likes it so therefore I hate it" thing.

God, I wouldn't be surprised to see Windblade added to the movies. Was almost surprised to not see her in TLK.

Yeah I was actually quite surprised (but happy) not to see Windblade shoehorned into The Last Knight. I actually didn't mind her presence in the RiD15 animated series, she was pretty good. But in the comics I am indifferent, and in Machinima's CW..well... . Anyway, Hasbro's going to do what they are going to do until the next *fan vote* I guess...

I have no plans to get the Titans Return Windblade Deluxe, but I am happy for Fans that have found her and enjoy the final result.

Honestly, {i]most[/i] of the Transformers that get any screentime are pretty entertaining. The AoE crew (especially Hound), Nitro Zeus, Megatron himself... The only actually annoying Transformers from the movies were the Twins, Brains, Wheelie and to some extent Cogman. The rest were either entertaining or at worst nondescript.

Nay, the biggest problem with the TFs in the movies is they're overshadowed by the godawful human characters. Granted, not all of them are horrendous (Simmons is superb when he's actually got a proper role in the movie, and I for one liked Mikaela) but most of them are dreadful and completely stole the limelight from the robots.

Honestly I wouldn't mind a Windblade in the movies provided she isn't pushed too hard (have her as one of the crew and give her some decent lines for sure, but don't make her the Chosen One who can fix everything with WOMAN POWER). Heck, I'd like to see her movieverse design and potential actress. I wouldn't mind Mari Ijima actually, given that she speaks very good English, can definitely act and would make a good counterpart to Ken Watanabe's Drift.

I like Windblade, at least from a design point of view. She's like a robo-geisha/kabuki actress with a cool jet mode and a nifty sword (though IMO it's more like a Chinese jian or dao sword than a katana) and her colour scheme is nice too. I wish she wasn't touted as the greatest achievement in Transformers history but I don't dislike her at all.

Anyway, topic.

I wouldn't mind a con/boxset exclusive retool of Windblade into another fembot, if it were possible to go beyond a mere headswap anyway. Looking at her design, I don't know if it would be possible to use Windblade's robot bits and Scourge's vehicle bits and weapon and make her into Thunderblast? Scourge is too manly to be Thunderblast but has the right alt mode, whilst Windblade has a good robot mode but turns into a jet.
Re: Pictorial Review of Transformers Titans Return Windblade (1899938)

The combined form of Windblade's swords could work as a "wave motion tuning fork" (As TV tropes has dubbed guns that charge up energy between two prongs) kind of cannon. I agree that the seat makes for kind of a bulky hilt, but the marching orders for Titans Return require a weapon that can seat a Titan Master (be it a single weapon or two that combine) so it's not like the designers had a choice.

Regarding Titan Master Optimus Primal, if we don't get him in TR he'll probably turn up as an accessory for the Power of the Primes Optimus Primal.

I went out today and yesterday to get a couple more Titan Masters (Fangry and Ptero) and hoping to get Wolfwire, but the stores around me have obviously not gotten Wave 5 in yet. I didn't want to go home empty-handed today, so after some time agonizing over who to grab as a consolation prize I wound up picking up Breakaway to turn into Minerva (an idea I've seen bandied about a few times and one implementation of). I decided to go with Minerva since I like her and since it would be a more straightforward bash than turning the toy into a more accurate Lightfoot/Getaway (the most straightforward starting point I can think of for him would be the Universe Sideswipe mold). Plus there's room/the potenial to make room for the seat/helmet.

The TR Chromedome mold is not exactly the brilliant translation of the original design to modern form that, say, Hardhead is. It has a substantially different transformation and a reliance on faux-parts. Beyond that, the way they did the canopy was just plain stupid and makes it kind of annoying to open.

Fangry and Ptero are neat, but they have something of a shared flaw in their vehicles' gun modes: The designers only accounted for the mode as a handheld weapon, they didn't take mounting it to a vehicle or base mode into account. With Fangry it's a clearance issue caused by the dragon head, with Ptero it's the angle of the peg compared to the body. He needed an additional peg on the top of the seatback or something... Though at least with Powermaster Optimus Prime one of Optimus' own weapons provides an option. As does the Chromedome mold's large gun, so the slated-for-customization Breakaway has replaced Blurr in my PMOP's trailer.

Dunno about the "trolling" thing. That's just "Bush did 911" conspiracy theory. But yeah, Hasbro did create her for around 90%.

What I want is a REAL fan created character. From the ground up. Go with the basic questions as usual for a month. then the month after, let the people decide on the specifics of the vehicle mode, parts by parts. The next month would be the design of the bot mode, parts by parts. The last 2 month would be to decide the backstory. Overall, the FAN design project should last between 6 months and a year.

Then, and only then, we will have a TRUE "fan created" character.

I think Pikachu is more guilty of that than Charizard, although Charizard did get two new forms not long ago. Back when the game came out, Charizard was the bad-aft starter to have.

Back on topic:

What if the COmbined Titanmaster weapon is supposed to be a RAIL GUN? Huh? Huh? Maybe its supposed to be swords that combine into a cannon?

But I agree, on their own they are kinda sucky looking on her. Someone with bigger forearms might make them look pretty cool though. A Voyager perhaps?

Honestly, aside from my usual gripe about non-headmaster characters having partsforming heads, I am very excited for this Windblade. I loved her original molds alt mode, but the limbs were floppy in between modes. I find this one's body is better proportioned with the Kibble, and captures both an amazing altmode and a good robot mode.

I love that Hasbro has chosen to make working Tilt Rotors a staple for Windblade. With every figure, I dread the day we find out its just molded to look like a tilt but they continue to articulate the fan housings.

Granted, I was more referring to the specific design of Windblade rather than her personality. The fans did choose her most basic elements, but no one asked for a Kabuki Transformer. Now, as far as the character's whole personality is concerned, yes, fans didn't create that, but what we got of her personality is fine (or at least, the IDW comic and RID 2015 cartoon personality versions are fine, while the murderous emo personality of hers from the CW cartoon is awful).

I think the main problem with this Winblade are not the legs, but the head.
In order to fit all the details of the face and hair they had to shrunk it down a lot, and the face ended being too small compared to the rest of the body.
I have the feeling the legs are too square, instead of big, while the overall too bigness of the limbs is due the head being too small.
Can we have a pic of Windblade featuring another headmaster?

What a delightful assortment of stuff. I want that Grimlock Magic card, and I don't even play Magic.

I like Charizard! He's my favorite starter and favorite Pokémon overall. Don't be hatin'!

Also, I've got some thoughts about this TR Arcee reveal. First of all, she looks great, for the 4th retool/repaint of the TR Blurr mold. Also nice that she comes with the Ultra Magnus Titan Master. What really has me curious is that this will be an "early access" purchase at HasCon and presumably available at mass retail later on. Maybe there will be a second new figure in TR deluxe wave 6 besides Slugslinger? Anything said to the contrary at SDCC may be due to the fact that Hasbro wasn't ready to reveal Arcee yet, since she's partially tied to their upcoming expo. Another possibility is that wave 6 isn't the last deluxe wave in TR, and there will be a wave 7, with more new figures, closer to the holiday gift giving season, with the mostly redundant wave 6 being a way to push out some of the harder to find figures from the past two years before the end of the line?

Finally, if Arcee will indeed be available later on to everyone, will she still come with Titan Master Ultra Magnus too, or will that be exclusive to the HasCon release?

The belief is that they're packaged together and will be sold that way somewhere else as an exclusive. Wouldn't surprise me if she's a New York Comic-Con exclusive that will go on HTS after NYCC, not after Hascon.

We already knew that from the file card that was leaked. And it's been the main rumor since there was even mention of Arcee in Titans Return.

I think it's pretty damn awesome. Hopefully it'll be easy to get.
