and, in a surprising twist in the books, we have a new small teaser of a figure not previously known to make its appearance - character or mold - in the toyline: the back of packaging card for a Decepticon Blast Off, which looks suspiciously similar to the Takara Tomy version of the character in the Unite Warriors release for Bruticus (the Japanese version of Combiner Wars).
Take a look at all of them below, and let us know what you think of the surprising find amidst all the known upcoming waves of combiner figures, in this final chapter of the Prime Wars Trilogy toylines.

Probably not. The first one only vaguely looks like a Matrix, I feel like Hasbro would have gone for something a little more on the nose and easily recognized as a Matrix. The second one I would think it was an Enigma it would have five points to represent the five members instead of six.
I'm probably wrong, but I'm going with the top being Primus and the bottom being Unicron. The first one reminds me of the circular formations on the surface of Cybertron while the second reminds me of Unicron's planet jaws as seen in G1 (not the clamping jaws from the Unicron Trilogy).

The CW Combiners were all 6 members. Plus that is the symbol that is actually on the enigmas that come with the PotP Voyagers.

To me it is either fake, or an indication that shuttle Blast Off is not going to be a regular release. May Mayhem or part of a box set perhaps? The multiple languages make me think it is for some type of special release where they can use the same packaging everywhere.

EDIT: Megatronus also suggests the image isn't fake. Molding looks identical between pictures, and when have we ever seen him at that angle?

Qc isnt really the issue here (aside from maybe the tabbing), its just a poor ass design.

Which means its not part of POTP but a single release outside the line. It makes sense to finally release him now since we are back in combiners.
Quantum Surge wrote:Since Blast Off mentions Bruticus, does this mean they'll reissue the Combaticons?
No.

I'm so glad for that picture as well. I thought I was going crazy when I posted about the 15 symbols a while back and nobody believed me.
Also, I find obviously mileage on individual figures varies. I've been fortunate not to have many of the QC issues people are reporting. A couple reviews I've seen for Grimlock are surprisingly favorable. Not that I should suggest you purchase multiple toys, but Hasbro Customer Service may want to compensate anyone who is genuinely unsatisfied with the product they purchased.

First of all - I DID IT!!!
I mean... I know it wasn't actually me... But I did make a directed request for this on Twitter. It would appear I will be getting EXACTLY what I asked for becauuuuuse -
Secondly, the packaging doesn't look fake, but rather, it looks like Skrapnel's packaging. Which MEANS it probably has the Hand-foot-gun and no Prime Master compatibility.
I have hope.
Posted by o.supreme on December 14th, 2017 @ 10:08am CST
But if the color scheme is noticeably different and the QC issues fixed...and its not a hoax... Still I'm holding out hope for other new deluxes down the line to fill out the Voyager Torso's revealed far. I now many people are speculating that these are all just extra Voyagers, but I still remain cautiously optimistic.

All Engimas are differently sculpted, but they do follow a similar design aesthetic, maybe following one of those symbols.
Pretty odd that the cards for the Deluxes are the EU variants...
As for Blast Off, yes please. I will agree with the possibility it's an exclusive, but to what store... we still have a Wreck-Gar at Walgreens that's unaccounted for.
Taking a close look at Megatronus' arms... they match the design of Liege Maximo & Skullgrin, pointing to our third Prime Master retool of the line, after Metalhawk into Landmine, and Cloudburst into Waverider.

Probably a pipe dream tho.
This Blast Off looks to be in white and black — much like Shuttle Gunner from Battle Gaia... or G2 Blast Off. (you can see through the scribbles in some places) Kinda bummed we don't get a G1 toy color version... and that this would leave us with yet another unfinished rando combiner.
Will probably look great, though.
Still hoping for some names and bios for these combiners, Hasbro!! (not just instructions showing random assemblages with dinos and decepticons and cars all mashed together)

Nah man! Gotta get the legit G2 set. I don't care if I'm getting a bunch or repaints/retools. Defensor is the coolest of the G1 combiners, and I'm sick of him being left out!
Also, what Jelze said. Looking like CW-Brown to me. I Am hoping for a G2 one ALSO, though.

The artwork for the head was shown a while back, and it is identitcal to Defensor. I had not considered this, I was kind of hoping might release Guard City. Best case scenario, we could have both .

My hope is that it is an "Under-the-table" version of Guard City.
Given that this trilogy has really come through on the more reasonable fan-requests, I could see this being Guard City, and still getting a G2 Defensor set at some point.
NOW
For a more unreasonable request... UW versions of the Technobots in the mainstream release!
Posted by gothsaurus on December 14th, 2017 @ 10:56am CST
I DO hope they eventually get around to at least finishing out a 5-bot femmebot. We know they have plans to round out Volcanicus and Abominus (in spite of the dinos hanging around on Inferno's leg there.) So the limb combinations shown in the artwork aren't 100% proof of the intended pairings... or of who is coming out and who isn't. Guessing that's all just based on the order of release for the waves.
Chromia & Greenlight are on my list, Hasbro! Make it happen!!

Eh, no. I'm looking at the side of Grimlock's box and spotting Sludge as his right leg, and Snarl's golden feet on the left leg, both Wave 2 figures. Plus, Abominus's leaked art shows him with all 5 Terrorcons, despite 3 of them coming a wave later than Hun-Gurrr.

How's this for a Guard City?:
Inferno - Red Alert - Evac (with a weird deco) - Ratchet - some-motorcycle-guy... Wreck-Gar, I guess?

I didn't have any qc issues with Shuttler, but maybe I was just lucky. I like the way he looks, but that could be because TT reassembled him to flip his chest and back. The same can easily be done with Blast Off by popping of his arms and swapping them.
Posted by Sabrblade on December 14th, 2017 @ 11:48am CST
From all reports, Shuttler didn't have any of the QC issues Blast Off had, but that could have been in part due to the retooling done to give Shuttler his backwards torso transformation compared to Blast Off.Lore Keeper wrote:Randomhero wrote:Clockwork Animations wrote:YAAAAAAY now I don't have to buy the UW Bruticus to get that awesome Blast Off.

Yeah and Strafe had some of the same QC issues blastoff had. Trust me I own both. If it’s real and they’re gonna use the takara mold the real question is which mold is takara lending out? The old one or the modified one that fixed issues.

The torso is turned 180 and the arms are switched. But there was a minor functional retool to make the hinge the head is on less prone to popping out. Such tweaks are usually permanent, so we can safely expect Hasbro Shuttle Blast Off to feature it.
Question is, what would anyone do with Jet Blast Off?

My jet blast off makes up a leg for Grand scourge along with Terrorsaur, Off-road and Hasbro Vortex. I really hope this Blast Off is in toy colors so I can replace Terrorsaur and have a more unified Grand Scourge.

I own both as well, and I only had QC issues with Blastoff, my Strafe is excellent, although to be fair, I got mine only as a result of a quick grab of a pre-order cancellation on BBTS when the item was just being released. Maybe I got a closer-to-end production Computron that had fixed it? Its good to hear about Shuttler though that I wont have any issues once I get Bladigus.

Did you steal my idea, or did we just think exactly the same . I love my unique outlier combiners, oh wait, its not exactly the same, my Hasbro Blastoff is an arm, as is Hasbro Vortex. Offroad and BC Terrorsaur are the legs to my Grand Scourge ..oh and TAV Runabout is the 6th member.

Just the same idea lol. I was going to use Runabout as the sixth member but I didn't want to separate him from Runamuck so I'm just ditching the whole 6th member thing across the board. Except for Victorion.

Speaking of which. I got Slash yesterday. I challenged my son to come up with something, but there's really not much you can do with her. I may wait until I have Grimlock in hand to see if there is any backpack (ala wreck-gar to Skylynx) fan modding that can be accomplished, otherwise, its just using the tail as a "gun handle" in the hand of a combiner (think Shuffler), it really doesn't look good, but I haven't seen anything else...yet...

Because it’s never been the intention with POTP legend class. They interact with prime masters and that’s it. I don’t understand why some are so adamant to try and shoehorn figures into something when it’s not the intention.
It’s so frustrating when the line was shown and people getting mad that they don’t know how slash merges with the others or why it’s not advertised is baffling. Hasbro never said it would!

Obvious-boring guy (me) is doing the Obvious-boring thing and putting him on Galvatronus. Currently, I have Terrorsaur in the final spot using SG-Starscream's HFG. I would LOVE to replace that, though.

Additionally, it seems pretty clear (to me, at least) that even though combination is not the intention, that characters like Slash exist for the underlying purpose of keeping the teams of six. I think that is the ONLY reason we are (allegedly) getting Cindersaur- so that he can be a neo-Terrorcon.
This way, those that like the 6-member teams can have some consistency in their play.

First off this isn't Combiner Wars and none of the PotP combiners have six members. It would be strange to base a symbol on an outlier like that when five is considered standard.
And second, none of the Enigma look like that:
Grimlock - Four sided cross shape with blocks at the corners
Starscream and Elita - Four sided cross shape with circles at the corners
Hun-gurrr and Inferno - Three sided like a nuclear symbol.
No six point stars here.
