Nice. The return of the window box (as if there was any doubt) *ahem* but anyway...
I just wonder why Hasbro didn't do this in the first place. I mean when Optimus Maximus was introduced at the end of CW#4 comic THIS (as shown above) was more or less what he looked like (some limbs changed place but you get the idea). Why he magically changed white Battle Core (at Hasbro's insistence no doubt) in the next issue is beyond me.
I mean is Hasbro that greedy so as to swap Body parts thinking everyone would have original Optimus Prime be a Hodge-podge like Cyclonus, and the Battle Core would be the "True" Optimus Maximus?
Well I guess its a moot point, since any fan who wants can just have the standard Optimus along with the Correct "Maximus" Autobot limbs, or just get the UW-05 either way.
I mean I think both Combiner Wars and Unite Warriors are amazing. But it seems Hasbro has had so many misfires along the way, and I have no idea if they were intentional, or accidental (or a combination thereof)
At any rate, I wonder what the future of UW will be? -No doubt they will release Computron at some point, but beyond that is anyone's guess (will TT release Sky Reign & Victorian? , will they create their own release?)
I was thinking it would be kind of neat to repurpose the Battle Core Optimus as Ultra-Magnus and have 4 new (repaint/remold) Autobot limbs to go with him (ala Grand Galvatron), so he would no longer be a Hodge-podge. But then again, they already released Grand Scourge as an exclusive, probably wouldn't want to use that mold a 4th time.

The Mask with Jim Carrey. If you havent seen it, I strongly recomend it. You also get to see Cameron Diaz at her all time hottest. You can put some cheese between 2 loafs of bread next to the screen and she could turn it into a grilled cheese.

However do not (I can't stress this enough) do not watch the "sequel" son of the mask. By all means watch the mask cartoon adaption as it crosses over with Ace Venture and is hilarious for it.

I would guess MegaDump's referring to the fact that Bruticus will do to the Autobots what that meatball did to that poor construction workers stomach.
I get the sense MegaDump nows a thing or two about GI discomfort.

Indeed I do, as the workings of Michael Bay commonly assault my senses. Nausea, diarrhea and vomiting, all frequently follow lol. But no, in this case, my meatball reference was in regard to an episode of The Simpsons I saw years ago, something Milhouse says to Bart or vice-versa. I had completely forgotten about its inclusion in The Mask.

Talk about mental decay - in the absence of anything better to do, I had a look online... I can find no evidence that Bart or Milhouse ever said anything about meatballs lol. I'm actually finding this whole false or twisted "memory" rather disturbing! Is it possible that I didn't seduce Lady Godiva before teleporting back onto the Enterprise to blow up the Death Star?

I dont know. I myself still refuse to believe that the time I made out with JLo was a dream.
But yes, memory has been known to be unreliable. Check this out for some interesting reading: https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/hi ... ble-memory

It's funny you should mention that, I've always experienced a very selective memory... While it was useful at school & got me through university, I'm now reaching the stage where "useful information" is being lost in preference to remembering every line of dialogue from Transformers: The Movie. But if all it takes is "a cursory evaluation of Decepticon capabilities" to indicate a "distinct tactical deficiency," then I suppose I can afford to lose a few patients due to professional incompetence lol.

Oh yeah, and I know most of my high school Trig is gone. But, I actually hand-typed the entire TF:TM script on MS word back in 1995, so yeah, the dialogue is forever with me.

Alpha Bravo is distinct enough from Slingshot to stand on his own and fits with the aircraft motif the Aerialbots have going on (and even in Japan, they're called "Airbots", not "Jetbots") and serves a unique purpose on the team, and Rook really just completes the Protectobot team as a whole, because he's the last sort of "archetypical" rescue vehicle.
I mean, let's look at the Protectobots as a group; we have a fire engine, police cruiser, ambulance, rescue helicopter and patrol cycle; adding Rook gives the group an armored transport, which is the final really big rescue vehicle. He sort of "completes" the protection idea, in a sense.
The only reason Rook could possibly be considered a bad idea is that he's "not from G1"; which hasn't stopped Takara from doing even less sensical things to the Protectobots; I mean, anybody remember Protectobots Heatrock and Skyfeather the drill tank and fighter jet? :p Compared to them, Rook is extremely befitting of the Protectobots.
And honestly, who wouldn't have loved seeing Rook wielding Defensor's mighty fists as his own to bash the crap out of Decepticons back in G1? :p
Posted by o.supreme on February 24th, 2016 @ 10:03am CST
However... I'm not sure Rook really fist the "Rescue" motif. I mean... sure there is a fine line between Fire/Rescue vehicles vs Police vehicles (I mean both departments often respond to Emergencies). But Rook is pretty much a Police Vehicle
I guess it works... But I just cant see Rook in so much of a Rescue type situation (Thinking specifically of the Episode "Revenge of Bruticus" the Protectabots premiere episode. Rook seems to have more of a military application, which I guess would be good in facing off against the Combaticons.

Streetwise and Groove were also both police vehicles as well.
As for Rook's status as a rescue vehicle, he's definitely the kind of vehicle you'd see during stuff like earthquakes or other such things; something that is very sturdy and durable in order to protect the civilians it would have to be carrying. He'd be sort of like Blades in function, really; Blades is a rescue helicopter, which would be used for stuff like high flooding and tsunamis, where Rook's more earthquakes and other land-based disasters.
So not a civilian-type rescue vehicle, but absolutely a form of rescue vehicle; APCs (which is what Rook's altmode is) are used as armored ambulances in combat situations, and presumably would also be able to fufill said purpose during disasters; think a First Aid that's heavily armored and armed with machine guns.

Streetwise (similar to Red Alert)
Groove
But still I get your point. Rook would be more of a use in Natural Disaster/Combat situations rather than residential or woodland fire.

The Rescue Force are barely even characters, really, so I'm not sure if they'd count here. They had no bios and weren't even good as a combiner. Plus they're basically just neutered Liokaiser members, so they're not even Protectobots in Name Only. :p
As for the PCC Protectobots....dude, I really don't wanna remember the PCC Protectobots. I mean, they're not as bad as some other PCC "combiners" (like Double Clutch ) but still...

Of course in the infancy of the internet and TF websites, they were a rife place for spreading TF rumor. However with official printed material, pictures, and video becoming easily sharable, it helped to dispel rumors and inaccuracies in our memories.

Lol sorry to continue off-topic, but my heart soared when I read that. I did the exact same thing years ago. I just assumed it was an obsessive quirk unique to me. It's great to know that I'm either normal or at least not alone with a mental disorder lol

but one thing I wanted to add to the mix is no matter what issues the Combaticons have,
I am constantly going back to the thought that a lot of us have been waiting for a long, long time for these to be released. And yes, that goes for all of these combiners that are G1-esque in style.
It's still kinda crazy to me that it's been almost 10 YEARS since I started collecting the Classics line...
In the grand scheme, I think this line has been pretty solid. Now, I haven't bought a ton; none of the leader class or anything smaller than deluxe.
As of right now, I've passed on almost all Autobots as well (although I'm going to probably get UW Superion).
I only say this because all of the re-used molds haven't been an issue for me.
I do understand why it has been frustrating for people though.
It's also been easy for me to skip over the Autobot figures because I'm more than happy with all of the previous "classics etc" versions I already have. The only one that's even remotely tempting to me is Trailbreaker. Anyway.
I'm happy to have these good versions of Devastator, Menasor, and soon, Bruticus.
Again, they all have flaws here and there. But for the most part I think they're outstanding.
Yes, imo, the PE add-ons definitely help.
But here's a question for anyone interested:
Now that we have all of these combiners from CW, how long will it be before we ever see any of these again??
I have a feeling it's going to be quite a while... Which helps make it easy to just be thankful for what we've recently been getting.
Oh, and lastly, I'm on the fence about Victorion... Not a huge fan, but I'm not sure I'd say I hate it. As of right now, it's a fairly easy "pass".

I'm really glad I have the CW version of Optimus Maximus. There's not a whole lot I like better about the UW version except Sunstreaker, Prowl's chevron, and OM's black on the legs. Not really worth the hefty shipping cost.

There's two things tempting me towards the UW release over the CW version:
1: Groove. More limb molds is always good, after all, and Groove looks pretty nice- and the UW set is the only way to get him.
2: Hot Spot's hips. Apparently he stands up MUCH better than the US version.
The only thing seriously putting me off the set is the colours. Hot Spot has a lot of missing detail- but then again it's detail I could easily paint myself. Also, Streetwise is a rather odd shade of grey, though I think they changed it back to off-white after the initial prototype pics.
I still intend to do the customized "police" combiner with a converted Battle Core Prime, but I'm not sure on the line-up. 3 of the 4 limbs are settled on- Alpha Bravo modified into a police helicopter, Prowl and a customized CW Trailbreaker made into Strongarm. But who should be the 4th limb? If I do get UW Defensor and Rook I can use either Rook or Deluxe Groove- I'm leaning towards Rook as he'd fit with the whole police theme a bit better than a dinky little motorcycle. Or alternatively, does anyone else have any ideas for another custom I could do? I actually considered CW Brawl modified into a riot suppression vehicle (with a water cannon to replace his turret barrel, and of course painted black white and blue) but I'm not sure.
