Well, now we have a little sneak preview at the big leader truck's very own Spotlight coming out in August.
Some Character News Revealed:
#1) Those who wondered where a certain rhyming orange wildbot is within the IDW-verse, pay attention, you might find a clue.
#2) People who like baseformers with rocket modes, will be quite happy with one of the main characters in this issue.
Check the preview out here at comicnewsi.com.
When you're done, come discuss it, and present your own thoughts and theories in the IDW-Transformers-verse Thread.

I agree that IDW's Hotrod need not be RodimusPrime if only to keep Optimus alive... but Rodimus could be the time dislaced one much like Galvatron was in a set of Marvel comics.waaaaghlord wrote:I also posted this in the IDW theories thread but it may be worth another mention here since it relates specifically to the preview. The closest of the two Primes in the back in silhouette, are his wing like protrusions giving anyone else a Rodimus Prime wing/vane feel? If we can have Galvatron as a seperate character to Megs there's nothing stopping Rodimus being realised as a historic character seperate to Hot Rod. Thoughts?
Also about the first silouette, it makes me think of Titanium 6" RodimusPrime with the wings mounted from the shoulders perhaps.
As for the last silouette, I think I've seen an outline of a transtech TF like that before. It could be the transtech Cheetor concept, or even Shockwave's concept art from the best series never made.
If there is any validity to this line of thinking then i'ld wager the two silouettes belong to those who will carry the matrix after Optimus Prime while the colored two represent those who carried it before.
While Sentinel Prime is a given i'm not so convinced the matrix bearer in white and grey could be Vector Prime let alone a mech alt TigerHawk. Hmm... a Nemisis Prime... I think there using a evil Big Convoy for that. If I had to make an out there guess... It could be the same Bigconvoy in BW getting... corupted. He does fit the bill.
The second one we can see could just be some new character they plan on introing...

The term 'Matrix bearer' might not be appropriate here. We know that Optimus doesn't have it and the last definitive thing said on the subject is in the Galvatron Spotlight:
"Prime felt it first, a resonant tug from somewhere deep within the Matrix he carried"
Reffering to the Golden Age Prime aboard the Ark 1, so presumably that Prime (whichever one he turns out to be) is still in possession of the Matrix in the Dead Universe.

I figured it's worth throwing the theory out on the table until we have facts.

I would really laugh if what Wheelie was trying to tell Prime concerned what happened during the Galvatron Spotlight!

Prime is all over the place, I say take a hat, through a bunch of names in it and see what happens...
BeachComber anyone?

(Poor Prowl. Ever get the feeling you're being ignored?)

Nice thought, but Spotlight Galvatron and Spotlight Prime seem to be occuring concurrently. When Sideswipe makes the call from Cybertron Optimus has already left Earth, presumably to consult with Omega Supreme. If this is indeed the case then the most that Wheelie would be able to report on at that stage would be the destruction of the alien vessel near the Benzuli Expanse.

I would like them to make the Guardian robots mythic in nature and Omega special as the only sentient one. As the autobots last line of defense, his use should be rare and epic.
